Tiller mill closed… temporarily?
Operation Rescue is reporting late term abortionist George Tiller’s Wichita mill…
… is closed this week and will not accept appointments for next week, when Tiller is scheduled to be arraigned on 19 criminal counts of committing illegal abortions without obtaining the signature of a doctor who was not financially or legally affiliated with him. Women’s Health Care Services is referring patients to abortionists in Kansas City and Oklahoma….
“We are rejoicing that for two straight weeks, Wichita, Kansas, the nation’s abortion capital, will be abortion free for the first time since abortions began here. Even during the 1991 Summer of Mercy, Tiller was not closed that long,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “We pray that abortions will never resume.”
Tiller’s clinic was also was closed to abortion patients the first week in July. Last month over 500 people prayed for its closure during the Wichita Awakening event hosted by Operation Rescue. It is unclear when and if abortions will resume.

Even if this closure is only temporary, some babies will live who otherwise would not have been killed, and some mothers will be spared lives of physical, mental, spiritual and emotional after-effects.

Somg, you around? I thought you said that it would never come to this. *throws paper airplane @ Somg*
On this note, I shall sleep well. Good night all!
OH HAPPY DAY…OH HAPPY DAY!!!
I understand the happiness at this, and if what is claimed to be true is, it should be happening.
But I dont know about it “saving lives”. I would imagine procedures are simply delayed as they are referred and make appointments at other nearby clinics.
Dan,
Party pooper. And actually some girls will go home, think about it and change their minds. You’re right, some won’t. But Tiller is one of only 3 or 4 that will do late terms. And I don’t think that there are that many clinics in Kansas. So the girls might have to travel some distance. It’s not like New York or California. Do you know that there are NO abortion clinics in Lake County?
which lake county? lol my google search provided me with Il and Ca, since you referenced Ca, I assume you meant there, but I dont know.
and there are few abortion clinics in my area it seems, there are something like 4 that pop up in the Boston area, though that is overall fairly convenient for many inhabitants, even if it is a bit of a schlep

Good-time to MOAB it.
Dan,
I meant Lake County Illinois…knowing that you are from the “Chicago” area I thought you’d be surprised to know how far some girls here have to travel.
When I googled Kansas Abortion Clinics, only two came up…one of which is Tillers. So if his closes, everyone in Kansas will have to travel to
someplace called Overland Park…that’s why Tiller’s closing is such a “happy day” kind of thing…less children will die because less women will be willing/able to travel to obtain their abortions.
This is wonderful news! I hope Tiller’s “clinic” will be shut down for good! At least for 1 week we know that no babies will be dying there!
Right, no babies will die there. They’ll just die somewhere else.
Shouldn’t we be looking at a way to avoid the need to have an abortion, rather than cut off abortions at the source? Getting to the root of the problem is a lot more effective than just plugging the sink and hoping it’ll go away on its own.

Stephanie, How do you feel about making infanticide legal, as long as it’s ONLY for the same reasons that late term abortions are done (you know, disabled children, terminally ill children, etc) and then, once it’s legal, and women have access to clinics where it can be done, we will then try to sort root of the reason mothers will resort to such measures.
You’re right. This is the way to solve problems like murder in America. Just make sure it’s legal and safe, then work it out. Maybe it is wrong that we have cut off a mother’s access to killing their babies who are not perfect, or “fit”…you know, maybe if we provided them with a nice, clean, safe environment in which to kill their newborns, toddlers, etc (wouldn’t want them to get blood all over their carpet, or have to messy up their freezer with a corpse now)…and ONLY the ones who are disabled or don’t have much chance to survive (because that makes it okay)…it would be easier for them (you know, not so emotionally draining on them), and we could even provide counseling for them after the “procedure” is finished. After all, they just wanted what was best for their child, and I am sure the counselor will be more than happy to help them come to terms with the situation.
Stephanie, you’re right. Keeping it legal is the answer. Let’s make it legal, and that way mothers won’t feel, you know, offended, or judged about killing their terminally ill, or disfigured, or mentally ill babies, and then we can try to figure out the root of the problem, so that fewer babies will be killed. As for the ones who do still get killed, well, we’ll just consider that a cryin’ shame.
