For me, it’s a tie between PP being exposed on an enormous level worldwide for its evil, which brought us “new” pro-life activists out (like me)
…and
The research that developed the adult stem cell breakthrough.
I agree completely! But I’d add the George Tiller story! Thank God he’s on his way out! I feel like we caught Jack the Ripper!
Hi, mk!
Yes, George Tiller, I agree!….2008 is going to be GREAT!!! Can’t you just feel it???
I agree with the stem cell breakthrough.
Then there is also the U.S. Supreme Court upholding the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act.
AB Laura,
After reading these posts, I think 2007 wasn’t too bad either.
Depending on the new pres, yes I think this could be a remarkable year…

Hi there guys. What’s up with Tiller?
HEATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!
How are you!!! We’ve all been so worried about you…is everything ok???
MK, I love that song by the Atlers! Very funny…I was listening to that just the other day on Rick and Bubba.
Everyone has brought back such great memories here! This is a wonderful topic.
I think the Aurora scandal being brought to the open was a great thing for 2007.
The adult stem cell realization was possibly the BEST thing to happen in a while.
Thanks all!! You know I luv ya. Just had to take a slight break. I had a lot of things going on, and I wasn’t able to make time for the computer. However, I am back. So, what’s new? Fill me in..
Heather,
I should have know that mentioning Tiller would bring you back.
We missed you!!!!! How was your Christmas? Where ya been????
Missed you, Heather!!! So good to see you again. :)
MK, I am soooo sorry. I sure hope you guys had a great Christmas!!! Wasssup with Tiller?
Thank you, Bethany!! I really have missed y’all. I consider you guys to be my “pro life” family!!
Have we lost any people? Gained any?
We’re just nominating him as the biggest pro life story of 2007 (getting charged with ? felonies) and the fact that whats his face got fired…
MK, he HAS been charged?…Felonies? DO TELL.
Just the same old, same old…nothing new…
Tiller Grand Jury Set to Convene January 8, 2008
Wichita, KS
Thank you, MK. Let’s hope the dirt bag goes down!
I would have to say the whole stem cell thing, mostly because it’s just cool that they can make pluripotent stem cells out of skin cells- very Star Trek. :D
*geeks out*
And I must also “geek out” about the fact that Jill used a Sims picture. The Sims is one of my absolute favorite games! :D
Hi Heather. Glad to see that you are back.
Carrie, thank you. Thanks to all who e-mailed me. I have not been on the computer @ all.
I would think the mobilization of a community against PP here in Aurora is the biggest story. Then again, it’s going on in my backyard.
yaaaay, Heather’s back…I missed you girl!
And I would say the biggest event would have to be PP being exposed for the liars that they are as a result of them coming to Aurora.
HEATHER!!
WElcome back, love. Missed ya.
My 2007 story: PP Aurora. Swept like a hurricane. And got PP to be pathetically defensive.
Hey, Heather, we just got some great posts by a post-abortive mom, last name Stream. And of course the usual PC barrage against her, with a few exceptions.
And then you missed the undercover investigative report from Spain that showed illegal late term abortions in progress that was televised, get this, on a major TV network in Spain. Several doctors, psychiatrists, and employees from several clinics have been fined and/or incarcerated. You might want to extend another viewing invitation to Hal.
And then we’ve been defending the gospel of mercy against Zeke’s interpretation.
Otherwise, it’s been dull without you.
AWWW, thanks for the warm welcome back! I’m sure that Hal and Laura missed me as well:]…Carder, where is the thread about Spain? Sounds sickening, but typical. I did read Carla’s posts. She’s just what we need! Again, I hope you all had a great holiday. Happy New Year to everyone.
Click on December 21, 2007 archives. It should be at the bottom of the column.
Be ready to dust off your English-Spanish dictionary.
yoy! Thanks, carder:]
Jill, Heather, Carder, Bethany, Mk, Patricia, Elizabeth and so many more —
As a newbie, and sometimes poster, I would like to thank you for your posting here. I found this site when PP blew into my backyard (almost literally). I have learned so much from reading all your posts and have really come to enjoy all the interaction — even with some of the PC’ers.
Such great information is shared here and it has given me real insight into the larger issues at hand.
Happy New Year (almost) to everyone.
I’d definitely say stem cells!
It has been a PLEASURE meeting you as well, LB. I hope you will stay around for a long time. :)
Welcome, LB! My computer has been running so slow. EEsh.
Thanks Bethany.
Now just everyone tighten your seatbelts for 2008. We will be dealing with zoning here in Aurora starting on the 7th. I think we have a strong case and will hopefully close PP down here within the year!
Be sure to send any information you have to Jill as soon as you have it…she’ll be sure to post about it! :) This sounds so exciting!
I think this year’s pro-life victory was the Open Letter to Dr. James Dobson exposing the Brutally Wicked nature of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban ruling.
http://www.coloradorighttolife.org/openletter
In fact there was no ban on abortion, but rather a manual on how to kill babies.
Quotes from the ruling:
“The medical prof
Just watched the Spain/abortion clip. Very upsetting.
LB,
Thank you very much..I found this site as well when PP Aurora went up and have only been posting since about sept/octoberish, but I am glad you are here with us!
Colorado Families Against Planned Parenthood has done some wonderful things this year as well with all the protests against the contractors who plan to build the nations largest child killing facility.
http://keeppeaceinstapleton.com/
I think all the stories mentioned are great…my vote has to go to Aurora PP though, because it’s the one that got me off the bench….
Is it safe to come out yet? Whew. I feel like I’ve been hazed. I suppose I could swallow a goldfish and make it official.
Thank you to those who have welcomed me here. Well, and to those who haven’t. I don’t mind the challenges. Even Sally’s. She reminds me so much of myself so many years ago. The venom from her keyboard…
Anyway, the only reason I posted was to reach out to someone named Zoe. The rest of the PC’s will not have their minds changed by me. Only God can soften those hearts and change those minds.
I would have to say the stem cell breakthrough.
I think the overall assault on Planned Parenthood’s image in the minds of regular Americans has been an amazing success. The Aurora incident(s) brought PP’s shady tactic of lying their way into a city to the limelight, Lila Rose exposed their shadiness in dealing with the woman who come to them, and news coverage of them throughout the year has brought it to the mainstream. I remember being astounded by the number of people we talked to outside of the LA PP headquarters in May who were fully aware of Margaret Sanger and PP’s racist history! More people are now aware of them receiving hundreds of millions in public funding, and they were the main target of the 40 Days for Life protests.
Its to the point where we can wonder if PP’s New Year’s resolution is to “not have to close too many clinics” or “not have to fire too many employees.”
Sorry Jill, its kinda vague (like my pro-life bloggers for person of the year response), but I am just amazed at how the fight against Planned Parenthood has grown in this past year (and I’ve only been involved in pro-life activities for a few years…I can only imagine what someone who’s been around for the long haul thinks).
Hey guys, this is totally off topic but I had to post this….just saw a promo spot about Juno and the actor who plays the dad was answering the question: “what do you think the message of this movie is?
What do you think will be the biggest abortion story in 2008?
My bet: the election of President Hillary Clinton.
SoMG,
Don’t you wish sometimes wish that you could take a vaction…from yourself?
ROFL!!
Carla Stream, I did check out your site this morning. FANTASTIC! I loved how you told women that they were “running from their abortions.” How true it is!! That behavior I observe from sooooo many post abortive mothers. Yet, some of them are clueless as to why they do the things they do.
Clara, I also liked the part about the women being herded like cattle. 2 of my friends described it this way.
{{ oops]] meant Carla. Above post.
OK–rookie question: what does ROFL mean?!
Hooves, it means, Roll On Floor Laughing [[ to MK]]
Ah-ha! Thanks!
Hey guys, I just saw how worried you all were about me on another thread!! Thanks again! That was so nice of you. I’ll have to get my phone # to someone. I was just taking a break from cyber life:]
Hi Heather,
It’s nice to hear from you again.
All,
New England Patriots 16-0!! no losses this season.
the last time this was done (72′ dolphins) abortion was illegal.
jasper, *clapping*…watched bits and pieces of that game yesterday. HOOOOOORAA!
Yes, but as a die hard long time Colts fan it is my obligation to point out that any 16-0 season which includes a $500,000 fine for cheating
DOESN’T COUNT!!!!
(so there….)
(And poking people in the eye should be called…the officiating sucked!)
I don’t know if you guys have seen this letter, but it’s worth a read…
http://www.drlaura.com/letters/index.html?mode=view&tile=1&id=15200
How about the smallest prolife story (being covered up by the MSM)
http://faithfulrebel.blogspot.com/2007/12/shocking-harrisburg-pennsylvania-police.html
Hooves-Maw & Milehimama,
Thank you both for sharing those links. I’ve never had an abortion, but always believed that if I did, that story would be mine…exactly how I would feel. It makes me wonder when I hear that someone who had an abortion never had any regrets, (as some posting here, do) if they ever will someday, or if they are just burying their feelings of guilt for now.
On the second link, WOW! Poor guy! How true, though. If it were a pro-abort getting attacked, the media would be all over it. What kind of world do we live in that the even the police, who are SUPPOSED to serve and protect, take sides with an assailant. These types of stories are getting all too frequent for my comfort!
Anyway, thanks again!
Milehi, that is a horrible story! The article is correct, if the roles were reversed it would have been plastered across page one.
Biggest story of 2007? How about those pro-lifers in Kansas! Two grand juries investigating Planned Murderhood and Tiller, criminal charges against both, and creating public awareness of the corruption of abortion politics. No where in the nation is there such a sustained, complete assault on the abortion industry. My hat is off to them!
The biggest PL story of the year for me would be the Christmas fire bombings of local clinics by a PL domestic terrorist.
I enjoy a nice warm fire….bombing
:p
The biggest pro-life-related story of the year is without a doubt the PBA Ban that was taken up by the Supreme Court and spit out as an abortion manual that didn’t even prohibit in any real sense the specific procedure it dealt with in the ban.
If you don’t believe this is so then just go and read the majority ruling and see where it is clearly asserted that if the abortionist UNINTENTIONALLY delivers the baby past the navel then its OK if the baby is killed that way.
Of course, how would anyone be able to tell if the baby was pulled out that far unintentionally of not? The clinic workers could tell, but then it would just be their word against the abortionists and he can always claim that it was an honest mistake or just part of the typical risks he deals with when trying to perform a navel partial-birth abortion.
This is only part of the reason why this is the biggest story of the year. The other big reason is the fact that close to $250 million was wasted on promoting the passage of a bad law. A law that could not result in saving a single baby from being aborted as James Dobson later pointed out.
Let’s pray for a president who will sign an executive order outlawing abortion across the USA within an hour of being inaugurated.
This is the biggest story of the year for sure!
http://www.americanrighttolife.org/
And stay tuned for more….
“$500,000 fine for cheating”
LOL, no Hooves, the Pats don’t need any cameras, as they proved.
“(And poking people in the eye should be called…the officiating sucked!)”
Hooves, he didn’t poke him in the eye, he just put his finger in his face.
see you in the AFC championship…..
Justify all you want…getting busted for cheating tains your season. And if you think the finger thing wasn’t “unsportsmanlike conduct” and the Giants deserved to get penalized for something the Pats did then so be it….
The post season will tell.
Well, obviously, American Right To Life is a huge part of the story about the PBA Ban since the founding members of it were on the front lines showing how worthless the so-called ban is as far as having any effect at saving babies.
I suppose the best title for the overall story would be The rise of American Right To Life and its filling the vacuum of Godly pro-life leadership in the USA.
I don’t know if this counts as a story. I need to be more well-informed of what is happening. But the movie Bella was a wonderful piece for the pro-life movement, even though it was not created to be a political statement.
Anna, I definitely think that counts. :) Thank you!
“pro-choicer” knocks 69 yr old man unconsciense.
Milehimama,
I saw that the other day, I nominated it for tomorrows QoTD.
“I don’t know if you guys have seen this letter, but it’s worth a read…”
Hooves, thanks, I recommended a comment in the letter for QoTD…
whoot. Spent all day…finally finished shooting for the first part of our film, in which we spoof other music videos.
The one we finished was Fiona Apple’s “Criminal” starring one of my best friends as fiona. It’s all about how people think the video is so hot, but she looks kinda cracked out. So we played with sexy shots and then what drugs are really like–bleeding noses and vomit. And there were some silly spoofs in there too.
I’m pretty excited about this project, the best yet by far.
We also have “Loser” by beck, “Nothing But Flowers” by the Talking Heads, “The End of the World As We Know It” By REM, Scream and/or Beat it by Micheal Jackson on the list. Woot.
Jill or Anybody,
Can you provide for me the name of the Pro-choice journalist who engaged in an online debate with Jill on this blog some time ago?
Thanks.
Happy New Year ya’ll.
Carder,
Is that the one that was defending “Journey” on her question for the You Tube Republican debate? If so, I think her name was Amy…
Carder, I believe you’re thinking of Eric Zorn of the Chicago Tribune?
It wasn’t Zorn. I remember she had posted on a pro-choice website, maybe rh reality check?
ABL, I think it was the gal who defended Journey. Amy what?
Zorn didn’t have the guts to engage “live” on the blog. Too much Tribune.
Hey guys, I have a question for all of you on the thread above. *points up*
Carder, ah, yes. The original post is here:
https://www.jillstanek.com/archives/2007/11/journeys_journe.html
Yes, it was RH Reality Check – Amie Newman.
Thank you, Jill!
Yes, Amie Newman, facility worker-turned-journalist.
Honestly, I wasn’t looking for this but it fell on my lap. I checked out a book on Adolf Hitler called “The Importance of Hitler”. It’s not glorifying the man, believe me, just a biography at the middle school level.
I got to page 85 where the question came as to how the camp guards could do what they did and then go home to have dinner with the folks. When confronted with reports of atrocities, they claimed no knowledge. But…
Said Hans Frank later at his trial:
“Don’t let anyone tell you he had no idea. Everyone sensed that there was something horribly wrong with this system, even if we didn’t know all the details. We didn’t want to know! It was too comfortable to live on the system…”
Then I remembered what Amie Newman said:
“Believe me, women who access abortion KNOW there is a growing baby in their uterus. This is not a mystery to most women. We know that abortion “stops a beating heart” – some women we saw at the clinic wanted to take the fetus or embryo home with them to bury it – this is obviously akin for some women to burying a child. It’s terriby sad sometimes…”
Just couldn’t help but compare and contrast.
Ok, yes, pro-life story, um, Aurora still gets my vote. Already voted, thanks.
Jill, I have to laugh – when I see “Aurora” I pretty much glaze over.
