Oops, my bad

Short people got no reason to live?
Sure, everybody make mistakes sometimes. But we ain’t talkin’ spilled milk here! From Operation Rescue, “Healthy baby narrowly escapes late abortion at Tiller’s clinic,” February 12:
Last September, a 22-year old woman and her mother arrived at George Tiller’s Women’s Health Care Services in Wichita, Kansas, for an abortion. She had been told by her Reno doctor that her baby suffered from dwarfism, water on the brain, and a number of other fetal abnormalities. He also told her that if she attempted to deliver the baby at term, she could die. Fearful for her life, the woman made the trip to Wichita, KS.
CPC volunteer, Judi Weldy, convinced her to get another ultrasound….
The new ultrasound showed that the baby might indeed have dwarfism, but had none of the other conditions the woman had been told. The physician on duty at Choices Medical Center examined the woman and told her he saw no medical reason why she could not have a normal, safe delivery.
She was told she was in her fifth month of pregnancy. Her abortion would cost $7,000. The new ultrasound revealed that she was actually 24 weeks along. This put her over the legal limit for a late-term abortion in Kansas.
Last week the young woman gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby. The baby had no signs of dwarfism at all! Both mother and baby are happy and well.
Kansas law prohibits abortions after 22 weeks of pregnancy on viable babies. Exceptions include saving the mother’s life or preventing a “substantial and irreversible impairment” to the mother’s physical or mental health. Clearly this pregnancy did not meet any of those exceptions. Didn’t matter to Tiller. Nothing much without $$$ does.
“How many more women has this happened to? Fetal anomaly is not a legal reason to abort a viable baby in Kansas, yet it appears these kinds of abortion take place on a routine basis”, asked Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. This is why a full investigation into Tillers’ late-term abortion operation is so vitally important.

Tiller currently faces 19 criminal charges of illegal late-term abortions and is the subject of an ongoing grand jury investigation.
I inadvertently used a picture without the artists permission and after emailing him about my mistake, have been asked to remove the picture. He was very gracious. I am publicly apologizing to him, and have learned a valuable lesson. Thanks to Sally for pointing out that permission is actually needed. Should have realized that, but I was overwhelmed by the responsibility of getting the posts up. I apologize to Charlie Ledbetter. I would like to add that the painting he did was in response to a bombing in the underground tube in England. I chose it because it spoke to me. He is quite talented.

Who the Hell schedules a termination without a second opinion?
I can’t think of an OB/GYN who wouldn’t demand a second opinion – or at least a second round of testing – just to avoid getting sued into the dirt.
The fact that this woman wasn’t given the correct gestational age, a vaguely correct diagnosis, didn’t demand a second opinion (WAY cheaper than a $7,000.00 abortion) and the father wasn’t present makes me wonder about this whole story.
This sort of stuff happens all the time, FF. Not that the abortion lobby objects.
There’s a kind of Disney quality to prochoice thought, it seems. All the Disney princesses have stories that have the same “happy ending” — a wedding. Well, in Choicerland, the “happy ending” is an abortion. Never mind that it was based on a misdiagnosis, or that the woman was browbeaten into it, or that she is injured or killed. Just like the Disney movies end with the Happy Wedding, Choicerland movies all end with the Happy Abortion.
Just like the Disney movies end with the Happy Wedding, Choicerland movies all end with the Happy Abortion.

1) It rarely or never happens. The looming threat of litigation has made OB/GYNs compulsive testers.
2) If you really believe the “Happy Abortion” scenario, do not bother to seek help. You’re too far gone. No one can help you now.
THIS happened!! It happened and once is too much!! I am thankful that mommy and baby are well!
Christina, great Disney analogy! This is one more reason for women to do their research and find a good PRO-LIFE OB/GYN.

ooooh..maybe it’s the women whose hormones are raging that get the bad news from the doctors that are coercing them into abortions!
FF “I can’t think of an OB/GYN who wouldn’t demand a second opinion – or at least a second round of testing – just to avoid getting sued into the dirt.”

Avoid getting sued? over what? If the woman aborts her baby, how can she possibly sue? The baby is torn into pieces and discarded or incinerated. No body…no case.
You know, with all the big bucks this jerk is making off of late-term abortions, it makes me wonder if Tiller is in cahoots with some doctors that give these women their original diagnoses.

I posted this back in April…
It happened to me.

mk,
Thanks alot! You’re story of Esperanza was so touching, that I have cried yet again. When God works through someone, isn’t it just amazing what He can do! You are truly an amazing person, mk!
Ok, now that that’s out of the way, what on earth is it going to take for this country to pass some laws that have checks and balances in regard to the abortion industry. Making abortion legal was our government’s “baby”, they should take care of it. Oh wait, that’s right…they don’t care how many babies are killed as long as the cash keeps flowing in to their political parties. And then they have the audacity to PROTECT Tiller? Un-freakin’-believable.
This turns my stomach to no end. I’m still new to this whole thing, and just when I thought I heard it all….wow!
Thanks for posting the story, mk.
FF,
So there you have it. The women who will not go seek out a second opinion are the ones who can’t afford to do so. I guess that’s ok with the pro-aborts, though, because if she can’t afford a second opinion, she probably couldn’t afford the baby, which constitues a reason to abort in your opinions. And if she’s a minority, well then, it’s a double bonus for you Margaret Sanger fans.
I think it’s a crying shame that doctors will prey on poverty-level women to profit from their abortions. And we get to pay for this with our tax dollars? SICK!
Didn’t matter to Tiller. Nothing much without $$$ does.

Where in ANY of this does it say she even SAW Tiller? The story said she ‘arrived at his clinic’. That’s all. The fault lies in the doctor in Reno who made the mistake in the first place. The article said she made a TRIP to Kansas, intending to end her pregnancy. It doesnt say a thing about her seeing Tiller or any of his staff, having an ultrasound there, talking to anyone there etc. She saw a CPC volunteer. Obviously she DID go to a CPC. Just WHAT does this story have to do with Tiller, except for your assumptions, inventions, ‘conclusions’ and fabrications? Are you just not CAPABLE of being honest?
TR,
Betcha Tiller would have done the abortion even though she was past the legal gestational age limit to terminate a pregnancy. THAT’S what it has to do with him. He would break the law..therefore, he should be in jail.

So there you have it. The women who will not go seek out a second opinion are the ones who can’t afford to do so.

…And those women can’t afford a $7,000.00 abortion.
If an insurance company or Medicaid is paying for it, you can bet that there would be a second consultation before they shelled out that kind of cash.

Yeah, and then Tiller would send them to doctor #2 who is in cahoots with him, and BINGO!!! Cashflow!
I really didn’t think that you were this naive.
TR,
What makes Tiller so trustworthy to you?
When I went to hear Jill speak in my area she told the story of a couple of married Drs. who decided to have a termination due to a mass found on their babies back during a routine ultrasound. After the abortion, the father went to look at his son in another room. He was a perfectly healthy baby boy with no mass on his back. The ultrasound was incorrect. Two doctors were fooled by the ultrasound and killed their baby.
Great story MK. I also have to wonder why the first quack Esparanza saw would even possibly think he could hear a heartbeat at 18 days with a stethescope. I was always told they couldn’t detect a heartbeat with a doppler until the baby was at least 10 weeks gestation, and for some women it may take even longer to hear the heartbeat.
I guess it goes with the territory of the abortion industry. Lies and deceit at the expense of women and most of all the babies they carry. Was this quack even licensed?
Betcha you would kill your daughter with an axe. Just because you’ve never been convicted of killing your daughter with an axe doesn’t mean you wouldn’t break the law and therefore, you should be in jail!
Well…if that ever happens…I should be in jail..actually I hope they kill me.
But that would never happen. I could have just had her dismembered when she was in my body, so WHY would I kill her now?
Seems kinda pointless to me.
Plus she’s cute as a button and she warms my heart into mush most of the time.
@FF:
Who the Hell schedules a termination without a second opinion?
OBVIOUSLY TILLER THE KILLER WILL SCHEDULE ONE WITHOUT A SECOND OPINION.
I can’t think of an OB/GYN who wouldn’t demand a second opinion – or at least a second round of testing – just to avoid getting sued into the dirt.
WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT AN OB/GYN. THE STORY IS ABOUT TILLER THE KILLER

DOES THIS KILLER ROUTINELY PERFORM ULTRASOUNDS ON WOMEN TO CONFIRM THE DIAGNOSIS? WHY DOESN’T HE REQUIRE TWO MATCHING DIAGNOSES BEFORE HE AGREES TO SEE A WOMAN, ESPECIALLY WOMEN TRAVELING TO HIS CLINIC FROM GREAT DISTANCES. ONE WOULD THINK HE WOULD TELL WOMEN NOT TO BOTHER COMING UNLESS THEY HAVE TWO MATCHING DIAGNOSES. WOULD HE REALLY BE THAT KIND TO TELL WOMEN TO MAKE THE TRIP, DO ANOTHER ULTRASOUND AT HIS CLINIC, TELL HER THE BABY IS FINE AND SEND HER HOME AFTER A LONG TRIP? I HIGHLY DOUBT IT.
She saw a CPC volunteer. Obviously she DID go to a CPC. Just WHAT does this story have to do with Tiller, except for your assumptions, inventions, ‘conclusions’ and fabrications? Are you just not CAPABLE of being honest?

“I leave you with this quote, taken from the San Diego Union. It is made by Dr. Edward Allred, owner of 33 abortion clinics here in the United States. At 500 dollars per abortion, and 50 or more abortions a day at 33 different clinics…well, you do the math.”
“Population control is too important to be stopped by some right wing pro-life types. Take the new influx of Hispanic immigrants. Their lack of respect for democracy and social order is frightening. I hope I can do something to stem that tide;I’d set up a clinic in Mexico for free if I could…when a sullen black woman of 17 or 18 can decide to have a baby and become a burden to all of us, it’s time to stop.”
I couldn’t agree more Mr. Allred. It is indeed, time to stop.

Because his web page doesnt say ‘You have to have a second opinion before I will even talk to you’? As I said, you rely on what you make up – your fabrications, your inventions, your assumptions and then you run with it. According to the article the woman never even SAW Tiller. The problem lay with the mistake made by her doctor in Reno. Why she didnt get a second opinion THERE is anyones guess. But there are all these assertions about Tiller and she never even saw him.

Killing babies is illegal. Stupid people arent quite able to grasp that. You have no way of knowing WHAT she would said to Tiller or what he would have said to her or what would have happened because she never saw him. As I said, you seem to think your backside is a source of information. And Im sure its recognized by other antichoicers as such. But Im not impressed. Being stupid isnt an asset regardless of how much antichoicers try to argue to the contrary.
Sandy,
The first “quack” she went to was the same quack at the abortion clinic. She just didn’t realize it. He had told her the previous day that the clinic she was in couldn’t help her the next day (why the rush I don’t know) but that another clinic could (ours). Unbeknownst to her, he owned BOTH of them!

I dont frequent it “so often”. But you do remind me how important it is to be pro choice, you remind me of how heavily antichoicers rely on misinformation and you do remind me that lies and dishonesty and fabrications are a huge part of the whole antichoice platform.
Yeah, and then Tiller would send them to doctor #2 who is in cahoots with him, and BINGO!!! Cashflow!
I really have trouble believing anyone is really stupid enough to try to pretend thats believable.
Why do you think Tiller is being indicted on 19 counts of felony.
Because he consistently performed abortions on women over the legal limit and used doctors that were on his payroll to give second opinions…it’s the whole point of the charges…
According to the article, Tiller faces 19 counts of “aborting viable fetuses without first consulting an independent physician as required by state law.”
Texas,
That’s twice in one day you’ve accused me of being a liar…an apology is due, though I won’t hold my breath.
You need to read the articles before commenting on them and insulting everyone.
Honestly, it’s not that hard. First you accuse me of lying about a man killing his wife, then you accuse us of making up stories about George Tiller.
THE MAN IS BEING CHARGED WITH 19 COUNTS OF DOING EXACTLY WHAT THIS WOMAN IS ACCUSING HIM OF!
It’s really not that difficult to understand.
Here we go again.
She had an appt to see Tiller. There is no way someone is going to travel to a clinic outside of their hometown without an appt.
Tiller agreed to see her. What doctor will agree to see a referral without first obtaining the medical records and reviewing them before the appt. If he had reviewed her records before her appt, he should have told her that something was fishy and she should get a second opinion before traveling the distance. If he didn’t do that, then he did look at her records. (Even in animal hospitals the vet looks at available medical records before operating on a pregnant bitch.) Of course, he could have reviewed her records the day of the appt, but that wouldn’t be very professional would it? to not be prepared when seeing a client – especially considering every week a woman is pregnant the more chances of complications – it wouldn’t be good for him to review the DAY OF the appt to just send her her away for a second opinion. Talk about a delay!
I’ve seen many, many ultasound pictures. In animals and all the ultrasounds done on me. Ultra sounds are extrememly accurate in predicting gestational age. Even in dogs.
Of course it is easier for the PC’ers to blame the woman. Whenever anything goes wrong when an abortion is concerned it is always the womans fault.
PP not detecting a vaginal infection before inserting whatever was needed to start the abortion. The PC’ers blamed the woman for not going back to PP – even though she was delusional from the infection caused by the insertion. Blame the woman.
The PC’ers blamed the woman in NJ who ended up in a coma after a botched abortion. Something about how she knew the risks before going for the abortion and shouldn’t be complaining now. Even though the PC’ers claim abortion is one of the safest procedures they then turn to she should have known the dangerous. Gotta love that one! It didn’t even bother the PC’ers when the abortion clinic received 106 pages worth of health violations, they still tried to find every way possible to blame the woman.
I believe the girl with Downs that tiller killed was her parents fault for not taking her to an abortionist sooner.
For people that are suppose to be for Women’s rights they sure do fall short when it comes to actually protecting women.
Now, it is a woman who wasn’t hurt because the abortion did go through and it is her fault for not getting a second opinion before making an appt with Tiller.
Good Grief – will blaming the women ever end? Pretty soon the PC’ers are going to want to know what kind of outfits women wear to get an abortion just in case something happens, they can blame the outfit!
Honestly TR,
You just make this too easy…READ THE ARTICLE!
The pregnant woman had been sent to Tiller
I doubt this happened. The source is Operation Rescue, after all.
Reality,
You’re probably right. And there are no abortions. And water isn’t wet. Whatever.
Sandy,

How sad MK.
Funny, I don’t see TR outraged by the lie told to this woman. What about the lies, inventions, fabrications and delusions this quack had.
Funny how it turns into a shouting match about whether or not Tiller is a scumbag, while the abortion advocates totally ignore the fact that there are many documented cases of doctors pushing for abortions when it turns out there’s nothing wrong with baby or mom.
They just dismiss it as “anecdotal evidence” and take the “Dumb woman wasn’t fit to be a mother anyway if she actually trusted her doctor” line.
Christina –
I agree completely! I am getting so sick of the “it’s the woman’s fault” motto the PC’ers keep doing!
Funny how it turns into a shouting match about whether or not Tiller is not the norm, while the abortion opponents totally ignore the fact that there are many documented cases of doctors pushing for birth when it turns out there’s something very wrong with fetus or woman.
They just dismiss it as “impossibly untrue” and take the “Dumb woman had sex so she should be punished with an unwanted pregnancy and a defective baby she can’t take care of” line.
So she only wanted to get an abortion if the fetus had been deformed. What is your problem with this? Don’t you want people to have healthy children? Are only those who are sick or disease worthy of attention while those who are normal should be forced to support those who are diseased?
Misdiagnosis is INCREDIBLY popular in the good ole USA. Do you know why doctors fear to lose their licence due to malpractice suing? Do you know how few people go into the medical field for fear of being sued? Do you know how many american doctors opt to practice abroad because of fear of being sued in their home country? Do you know how many patients go to other countries because the health care in the good ole USA is so terrible?
Huh? Do you know?
Do you know –
My father has been a CFO and CEO of many hospitals in the US. His job was to take hospitals that were going under and about to close and get them back on track so they can provide excellent care to the community.
Do you know how many Canadian, Japanese and Indian doctors my Dad has hired because they WANT to work here instead of in their country? Do you know how many Canadians come here for treatments because they can’t get it in Canada? Do you know how many doctors run away from states like Illinois and come to states like Indiana because Indiana actually has a cap on how much money you can win in a law suit? Do you know that the medical field is one of the hardest professions to get into because of all the medical students graduating from universities now – unless you want to say that the United States Department of Labor Statistics is wrong.
AND the point isn’t that the mother was told her baby would be deformed, it is because the doctor told the mother she would DIE if she continued the pregnancy. OOPS – thats kinda a major mistake, don’t ya think?
Christine –
“abortion opponents totally ignore the fact that there are many documented cases of doctors pushing for birth when it turns out there’s something very wrong with fetus or woman.”
hmmm… no, I dont’ know of many documented cases of this. Can you provide a link or name of organization that has this information?
“They just dismiss it as “impossibly untrue” and take the “Dumb woman had sex so she should be punished with an unwanted pregnancy and a defective baby she can’t take care of” line.”
No, we believe that she had sex and should understand that sex can cause pregnancy. If she cannot afford a baby, defective or not, she should allow the child to live and put the baby up for adoption. Many private adoptions have the adopting parents paying for all prenatal and postnatal care. As a matter of fact, some insurance companies have been going on a case by case basis on paying for this if the couple cannot have children.
Terminating a life is rarely the responsible way to go.
Do you know that the medical field is one of the hardest professions to get into because of all the medical students graduating from universities now
Valerie, heck no I didn’t know that. Dang surprising….
……
Do you know how many Canadians come here for treatments because they can’t get it in Canada?
This is a problem with “universal health care.” I see the attraction for it, but in practice it’s not so pie-in-the-sky.
……
Do you know how many doctors run away from states like Illinois and come to states like Indiana because Indiana actually has a cap on how much money you can win in a law suit?
Exactamundo! West Virginia, where my employer is located, has the same problem, in spades – both no caps and a court system that has allowed some ludicrous verdicts. Tough to get a doc to stay in the state.
Doug
mk,
I see no info about the art used for this thread. Is it legal to use another’s work without crediting them for it and permission to use it? Is it ethical?
Sally,
That’s a really good question. I spent the last two weeks trying to learn how to even get art ON the posts. Never gave a thought to whether or not I COULD put it there. Do you know anyplace where I could find out the “rules” for posting stuff that you find on the internet?
Also, I’d credit the guy/gal now, except I don’t remember where the heck I got the picture from.
This thread is going to be dropped today, or I’d search right now.
But in the future, I’ll be more careful.
Do you know the artist…I mean, do you know OF him?
What should I have done differently? Thanks, for bringing it up, cuz I wouldn’t want to do anything illegal OR unethical. Let’s just hope this artist doesn’t notice this one time.

Laura,
I know, right? His name (I went back and found the picture, looked up his website, emailed him, and put his name on the post..
It’s Charlie Ledbetter.
I am happy to point out that this image was NOT used with my permission and that I disagree strongly with the points of view expressed in this blog.
To Laura (aka-Fetus Fascist), your chosen name says it all. I hope that your take on the world goes the way of the other Fascists throughout history. If you chose to take your feeble mind out of your bottom and really look at what I am expressing in my work, you might find that it speaks to an all-too-familiar condition which is pervasive in the culture of fear exacerbated by your likely chosen president.
Frankly, I am glad that you do not like it.
It shows me that I am on the right track.
