WND coverage of UWSP vandalism of pro-life display quotes Stanek commenters
Yesterday WorldNetDaily.com covered the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point incident, wherein pro-abort Student Government Association member Roderick King vandalized a display of memorial crosses placed with permission by the campus group Pointers for Life.
The WND article included commenters to my post on King from TexasRed Bobby Bambino and Rae Patricia from Canada…
But worse is the fact that despite the students’ complaint, the Student Government Association has declined to take action.
“So much for choice…” wrote TexasRed on Stanek’s forum page.
“Wow! All I can say is welcome to the abortion debate Canadian-style,” wrote Rae. “We can’t protest or debate abortion in Canada because it’s considered a basic human right (since when?).” Never mind that the human baby doesn’t have even the basic human right to life.
“This man has serious anger problems. I wonder how many unborn baby skeletons he has in his closet…?” she wrote.
Actually, I was thinking the same thing Rae.
WND included more background info on the story:
The campus group Pointers for Life had put up the Cemetery of the Innocents display last week, then spent the next morning repairing the damage from someone who had vandalized the field of rows of white crosses representing the victims of abortion.
Then they were trashed a second time, only this time the pro-life campaigners were armed with a video camera.
As students looked on, King led a group of angry students by walking through the rows of crosses and plucking them from the ground and tossing them.
Campus security was summoned, and when an officer arrived, most of the students left. King did not.

Yeah, if you look at the first several comments, you’ll see that it’s Patricia that’s being quoted in the WND column, but they attributed it to Rae.

Hey, that goes for me too! I wrote “So much for choice…” not TR. I think WND thought that the commentators were the names written ABOVE the post, not below. So they would say that Jill Stanek wrote this post. I think that’s how they’re confused.

I don’t think pro-aborts realize the anger they unleash is really, as Obama would say, “the morally wrenching” issues they are struggling with inside themselves. Then they unleash it on peaceful pro-life people. They should legislate these attacks as a hate crime.
The knocked down crosses are a very effective visual representing the reckless nature of abortion. I say leave them right where they’ve landed on the ground as a symbol of each baby’s life which has been tossed away.
That isn’t right. I wish pro-choicers and pro-lifers would respect one another’s right to demonstrate.

I got confused myself, Bobby. I thought there must be another Rae who lived in Canada, and I thought TR was being open minded for once.
I just checked and WND took out both Rae and TR’s names and made them “contributors.” But you’ll get credit here!
I read some of the comments on Michelle Malkin’s piece on this and one guy has no clue about a child’s development before birth. He says there’s no heart beat or brain waves when most abortions are performed. The fact is, the heart begins to beat at 22 days after conception. And Brain waves can be detected as early as 40 days.
You have to wonder if Mr. King lost a sibling to abortion or something like that and this is his way of expressing his anger over it.

Doug and I first ‘met’at the Free Speech Zone discussion boards and chat room on AOL, when I was using the s/n Varid. And Free Speech meant exactly that. We could say exactly what we wanted to. And I did.
I think the guys action was stupid and pointless. But it doesnt alter the fact that there are pages and pages of examples of antichoicers committing acts of violence – and that includes what? 7 murders? – against people who are pro choice. No one was hurt by this bozo pulling up wooden crosses. Its hard to compare that to setting a building on fire, or boming a building, or shooting someone.

The really disturbing thing about this incident is that the proabort terrorist who destroyed the display seems to have the full backing and support of the administration of that university. That suggests that other proaborts will be encouraged to do likewise in the future.
I know its Luminous Mysteries, but I downloaded the Sorrowful to recite during Lent. And since its an abortion related issue, Sorrowful is more appropriate.

Anti-pro-aborts have killed seven people in 35 years across the USA? One for every five years. How many murders were committed in Texas last year? Well, 2007 statistics on murders are not yet available, but in 2000, according to the source below, there were 1,230 murders in Texas, a rate of 5.9 per 100,000. I’d say you are in more danger living in your own state of Texas than being an abortionist in the rest of the country. I’m guessing most of those murders were not committed by pro-lifers either.

I believe in the power of these outdoor crosses/signs on Abortion. When we did our first display a couple of years back on the Parish front lawn…our asst. parish priest commended us on it due to the ‘quality’ of confessions heard by him at the time the display was up. We had about 50 crosses and 1 big sign.
Our Parish priest mentioned that there was a ‘handful’ of complaints and we thought we won’t be allowed to re-do the displays again.
Then PP (Aurora) came in, and the rest is history.
Not only did we double the number of crosses, we now have 3 big signs!
From what I heard from the Parish grapevine, at least 1 highschool teen contemplating abortion changed her mind because of the display.

Hey Carder, a week or two ago you mentioned, on a particular thread, that “Doug will probably have his 12 cents to add” – something to that efffect. Ha! I loved it, and laugh about it still.
Iva is abrasive at times, yes, but she is often factually correct, versus the erroneous information we often see in the context of the abortion debate, and versus the straw men arguments that she has often come up against from the pro-life side.
