Stanek on Bill Bennett, CNN tomorrow
The date and time has changed 3x now, but I think tomorrow between 5-6p EST the CNN segment on Barack Obama and the Born Alive issue is finally going to air. This is what CNN interviewed me for last week.
Bill Bennett is appearing live on CNN’s The Situation Room tomorrow during that time period and specifically requested that the segment await his ability to rebut and refute however Obama, his people, or CNN downplay Obama’s actions against Born Alive. Recall the exchange between Bennett and Obama supporter Donna Brazile last week in which Brazile contended the topic of gas prices was more important than infanticide.
Meanwhile, Bill Bennett will interview me on his radio show tomorrow morning at 8:05a EST about same. Find station listings here.
Do you predict this will make an impact?
I’ll be at work and I do not have TIVO. I’d appreciate if somebody could record it and post it on you-tube.
You mean the same Billy Bennett that gambled his life savings. The same Billy Bennett, the same Bill Bennett that thinks America would have been better if all Black babies had been aborted. Stay Classy, Bill!
Carder: no.

SoMG,
I heard that Vincent Bugliosi is now following Charles Manson. I wonder if it’s true. I heard he has really lost it lately.
Vincent Bugliosi should be tried for treason and sedition. Imagine what the rest of the world is getting from this lousy bum writing such a book about our President.
Bennett argued for “self-control” in ‘The Book of Virtues.’ (Oh brother, what a hilarious title, coming from him.)
Then he gambled away millions of Dollars.

Jasper, Thank you! I should have done a little research myself before posting! :)
Did the interview air?
Sorry, I see it airs tomorrow evening. I knew that.
Not to go back to same sex debate but…
30 Days on FX is playing an episode on same sex parenting right now!
Thanks for the heads-up, Jess. I’m watching it now. :)
By the way, I read the thread discussing HIV the other night, but it wouldn’t let me post. I haven’t read anything that funny in a long time. I thought we were done with spontaneous generation after the dark ages! Hey Jess, I heard rotting meat creates maggots… hahahaha!
xalisae, I don’t know if you saw this but some woman who was raised by gay male parents said she didn’t feel like anyone was appreciating her femininity because they both loved men. So if a white guy marries and has a kid with a black woman, their children will grow up thinking their parents don’t appreciate the beauty of white women or black men just because they didn’t marry them? My Dad didn’t marry a vegetarian, neither did my Mom, but I know they can appreciate it in me.
My Dad didn’t marry a vegetarian, neither did my Mom, but I know they can appreciate it in me.
Jess, Are you sure????????? (just kidding) :)
Interesting thought (10:42), Jess. Sometimes life doesn’t seem fair, but you know what? God loves everyone no matter what. Isn’t that cool?
Yllas,
With Jill’s authorization, you are asked to discontinue posting for the next two weeks.
Take a break. Go to the beach. Do some gardening.
When you’re ready to compose coherent posts minus the insults, we’ll be glad to have you back.
Yours Truly.
I feel safer already. Also, I missed the first half, Jess. Was the woman who was so opposed to gay parents the one who was adopted? I was raised by a heterosexual couple, and I still have trouble appreciating my femininity. DD’s made tree climbing extra difficult after puberty, my dad can be kinda sexist anyway, and I almost never get along with other women because I usually intensely dislike what they like. Get over it. You can’t just blame other people for how you feel about yourself. If people learned to cultivate qualities in themselves they like, they wouldn’t need approval and validation from outside sources, and they would be a lot happier. The world would be a better place.
“Jess, Are you sure????????? (just kidding) :)”
No actually I’m not sure. In fact they often make fun of me for it, see it as unnatural and just a phase, or a fad. Kind of like how some parents treat their gay sons or daughters?
But the point is that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be my parents.
Thanks for reminding me that God loves me though, God loves you to o!
That was funny. Maybe the gay and lesbian couples would have taken her more seriously if she would’ve come back at them with something more reasonable than just “I think gays shouldn’t be allowed to have children. I don’t think gays should be allowed to get married.” The crying didn’t help either, I’m sure. I wonder what that show would be like if they actually used rational, reasonable people, though.
xalisae, I know it’s on around 10:06 pm Tuesday (or around then) and I know some more after that. I would check at their website.
And no the woman living with them wasn’t the one who was adopted.
And I hope you don’t dislike me for being a woman, I’m more like a little girl trapped in a man trapped in a gay man trapped in another little girl trapped in an old woman trapped in my body.
Also covered in bruises. I’m very active, with very little balance or coordination.
Heh. I’ve had to increase my tolerance for pink and cute since my daughter came along, so you’re safe. One of the first things I said to our bass player though was “Well, we don’t REALLY have a female lead singer. I’m more like a gay man trapped in a woman’s body. You can tell by my unnatural love of leopard print.”
I think we’ll get along just fine. ;P
And even if you do happen to like rather girly stuff, it’s not a big deal. My husband and I live together just fine, and I’ve gotten really good at resisting the urge to strangle him when he tries to watch ‘How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days’
Ew I hate that movie, lol.
Although I have been obsessed with Cinderella lately, some guy I’ve had a huge crush on for two years, we were texting last night =) I like to read the story and replace Cinderella and the prince with the two of us. Extreme girliness to a toxic level, right?
I’ve always been obsessed with reading Grimms fairy tales though, I wouldn’t consider any of those stories “girly”. At least not until Disney got to ’em.
TOTALLY. It kinda makes me sick how sanitized everything’s been made as of late. I think it’s good for a kid to learn how rough the world can be, and many kids don’t get the instruction they need just because their parents find it hard or awkward to explain these things to their kids. Watching a newer disney movie or the fairytales in Dora The Explorer with Maggie is just agonizing for me, because I have to stop and explain that the original was nothing like that, and practically tell her the whole thing myself anyway. I don’t see anything wrong with the stories as they were, and they were told that way for a long time, and it’s not like the world imploded because of it. But as far as inserting yourself into popular scenarios goes, ain’t nothing wrong with that…even if your choice is a little more frilly than what I’d choose. It’s fun to pretend though. hehe

I’m not surprised SoMG would like Bugliosi. Maybe she’s attracted the Charles Manson too.
I heard Jill speak on Bill’s show this morning and I am appalled at the stance Obama has taken and still takes on induced abortions. He’d allow an alive, albeit aboted, child to die alone in a waste utillity room? And people will vote for him in November? It is called infanticide, Sir.
Xalisae: It kinda makes me sick how sanitized everything’s been made as of late.
No doubt!
There’s been a movement to change things like “Three Blind Mice” since it’s so horribly violent and traumatizing to kids.

Let kids be kids. They don’t need to know about all the pain in the world while their young. They’re only young for a few years, give them a break.
Kids can still be kids without having everything they are presented with turned sickeningly sweet. I used to play army with my cousins when I was little (I would always get mad because they wouldn’t let me fight. they said I could only be a nurse because I was a girl. -.-)
Also, believe it or not, the world can be a pretty harsh place, even for kids. But I don’t think that letting them know that sometimes people do bad things to other people, and sometimes those bad people get what’s coming to them, makes them any less of a child. For disliking liberals so much, you guys seem to want to raise your kids to be them.
3 Billy Goats Gruff was my favorite story when I was little.
they said I could only be a nurse because I was a girl. -.-)
Geez, X…. That’s just not right.
I have 21 nieces and nephews, and the girls are more willful, vengeful and ferocious than the boys.
One, Isabella, turned 6 last week. Her own father said, “I pity the boys she’s going to date.”
I never said I let them have their way. ;)

Yeah, me too Doug. Especially like when they won’t let young people on the university campuses see the pictures of what an aborted baby looks like. I’m sure those pictures are also very bad since they point out the violent and traumatizing nature of abortion to babies.
“they said I could only be a nurse because I was a girl. -.-)”
My daughter only had female doctors and dentists when she was young. (we didn’t plan it that way, it just happened) Anyway, we told her once when she was four or five that her grandfather was a doctor and she said “He can’t be a doctor, he’s a boy.”
That’s awesome, Hal. :) And, that’s my point, Patricia. Horrible things exist in this world, and if you deny their existence to your kids in fantasy when they are young, it gets a lot easier for the very real horrible things that happen in adulthood to be denied by those same children when they’re older. And on a lighter note, what good is a story without villains and danger?

Janet, if she asks I’d take her. I’d want to talk to her and see how she’s feeling about it. I think by that time – she’d be so much older – I’d know her well enough to have a decent picture of how it’d work out for her, either way.

Patricia, I don’t think people should have those pictures shoved in their faces, so to speak, but I also feel that if somebody wants to know what abortions look like, etc., that they should certainly be able to find out. Anybody on a college campus, or just with a computer and internet access should have no problem there, in the first place.
X,
I think I misunderstood what you were saying. I agree with you.

That wasn’t what I was getting at. Since you mentioned it, I’d rather she rode a bus because at least Doug wouldn’t be morally responsible for participating in an abortion by driving her to an abortuary.
Janet, if she asks I’d take her. I’d want to talk to her and see how she’s feeling about it. I think by that time – she’d be so much older – I’d know her well enough to have a decent picture of how it’d work out for her, either way.

And…I’d be very upset if one of my nieces came to me in such a way…I’d probably start by asking her if there was any way I could help, if she needed anything that I could provide or could help her get that could change her mind…
“I JUST GOT MY “CHOOSE LIFE” LICENSE PLATE! :D”
Good, we need more pro-life rockers!
Oh, and something I just heard that I find rather amusing: Obama just made a beautiful speech about the difference in pay between males and females in our country. In true politician fashion, though, it was nothing more than pandering when one looks at the facts-Obama’s female staffers are paid on average $6,000 less than the men, and on average McCain staff females make about $2,500 more than men. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again (and I’ll say it proudly as a female minority!) DEMOCRATS ARE JUST USING YOU, WOMEN AND MINORITY GROUPS! Republicans don’t care who you are, as long as what you are saying is good.
Thanks, Jasper. Rock on! Hehe
*what you are doing is good, I meant to say.

Hi x! Interesting statistics. Where did you find them?
Public record, Report of the Sec. of the Senate
And hi there, Janet. :) could you do me a solid and copy/paste what I said about the staffers on the most recent obama thread that I just posted on please? I’d do it, but my opera browser don’t swing that way.
It’s “Stanek On Bennet”, if you can. :)

My point exactly. So lets cast out ignorance and find the source. Sperm where it doesn’t belong sounds like an obvious place to start. And oh yeah, other male proteins act as an accelerant. But you just keep believing we caught from monkeys if it makes you comfortable not having a clue. Or if it makes you laugh.
And congrats on your new plates!

We’ll get back to that issue later…. “SWEETIE”,, hahahaha!!!
Fun stuff from Xalisae. And if you have a reference for this I can cite, I’ll headline it on a big website which lots of reporters visit, and spread it around for you as much as I can.

That’s the worst insult to right-to-lifers I can think of right now.
Whoopsie– missed yer cite, and found more too.
It’s being sent out now.

Easy to say SoMG, but not so easy to disagree with. Take it to the HIV blogline. I noticed you couldn’t refute any of my individual posts on the subject.

I might reconsider it at the time, depending on what I thought was best for her.
I know you’re a good and kind and caring person, Janet. You don’t think that abortion can ever really be the best thing for a woman or girl, though, and there I disagree.
Doug,
Do you know anyone who regrets their abortion?
Carla, just people online, like you. I only know a few women offline who have had abortions, and none of them regret it, on balance.
So in reality Doug you know no one personally, in your circle of friends that has had one and has suffered because of it? I would ask that you enlarge your circle just a bit in an effort to provide the “on balance” you speak of so often.
I am wondering because you are so determined to hold to the belief that abortion is good for women or the best thing for a woman or girl and I find that completely ignorant. I am not saying you are ignorant Doug but if you do not know anyone personally that has been hurt by abortion then you do not have an informed opinion. You have not exactly looked at both sides. I am not talking about the studies you bring up either. Let’s not go there again. :)
I am only saying this now because once again I have been with people with excruciating stories of pain and heartache and loss due to abortion. They are speaking out and there is no denying someone’s personal experience with abortion.
I knew nothing about Obama. Guess what?? I know more than I want to now because I read everything I could get my hands on so I could be an informed voter.
You could do the same. Be an informed commenter.

Carla, that’s true – I don’t know anyone like that, but I do realize that they exist, like you. The “on balance” just refers to the fact that most women have feelings both ways, i.e. there may be some conflicting feelings and regrets, no matter what they choose.
….
I am wondering because you are so determined to hold to the belief that abortion is good for women or the best thing for a woman or girl and I find that completely ignorant.
That’s not what I have said. You’re not qualifying it enough for it to be true. I don’t generalize that way, while you are. If there is ignorance here, it’s not realizing that everybody isn’t the same on that.
…..
I am not saying you are ignorant Doug but if you do not know anyone personally that has been hurt by abortion then you do not have an informed opinion. You have not exactly looked at both sides. I disagree – I know there are some women who regret having abortions, on balance. I don’t deny your experience – I believe you feel just as you say you do. I’m plenty informed, there, whether I know a given person offline or not. Whether I did or not, the fact remains that for some women having an abortion is the best thing to do in their circumstances, and that for some women it’s not the best thing.
…..
I knew nothing about Obama. Guess what?? I know more than I want to now because I read everything I could get my hands on so I could be an informed voter.
Have you seen Obama actually be against caring for born babies? He’s repeatedly said that he does not object to that. His objections were to other provisions in certain bills.
I realize some people are pretty much automatically going to be against any Democrat, any Pro-Choice candidate, etc., but the facts do not support much of what is being said about Obama here.
…..
You could do the same. Be an informed commenter.
I think what you are saying is without basis there. If people are going to say that Obama is against caring for born babies, then the burden of proof is on them. I’ve also never said there aren’t women who really regret having abortions, etc.
I guess it is not about just regretting an abortion.
Drinking, using drugs, suicide attempts, suicidal thoughts, loss of self esteem, anger, nightmares, remorse, promiscuity, difficulty bonding with other children, and intimacy issues are some but not all of the consequences of abortion. Not ALL women experience ALL of them.
Just wanted to give you the heads up that there are thousands of us out here Doug. :)
I was not talking about BAIPA and Obama. That is part of it but not all of it. I wanted to know where he stood on ALL issues. Now I know.
Be an informed commenter on all the ways that abortion HAS hurt women.
Drinking, using drugs, suicide attempts, suicidal thoughts, loss of self esteem, anger, nightmares, remorse, promiscuity, difficulty bonding with other children, and intimacy issues are some but not all of the consequences of abortion. Not ALL women experience ALL of them.
Okay, Carla, now you’re talkin’. I do realize that. Question, and there’s no “wrong” answer – had your first pregnancy been later, let’s say years later, do you think you would have had the baby? You would not have had the experience you did, which I think made you quite against abortion, but you’d have probably changed in other ways.
….
Just wanted to give you the heads up that there are thousands of us out here Doug. :)
There too I certainly can’t argue. I think it’s well over 20,000,000 US women who have had abortions, and for those who regret having abortions, overall, I think that’s too bad. I understand people who can’t have kids and want a baby, and I understand looking back and wanting that baby.
I don’t feel the facts that people can’t see the future and that they can’t guarantee they’ll always be pleased with their decisions justify taking away people’s legal choices, but I do agree that for you, having an abortion was the wrong thing
Carla, just people online, like you. I only know a few women offline who have had abortions, and none of them regret it, on balance.

How about off balance?
Hi Doug,
My first pregnancy didn’t have to be years later for me to have it. I was 24. Old enough to be a mom. Had I sought help, support and caring at a Pregnancy Care Center my girly would be 17.
I longed to hear the words, “I am here for you. You can count on me. I will help you all I can. You are not alone.” I didn’t want an abortion Doug. I needed and wanted help. I didn’t know what else to do and when the only things you hear are the spinning thoughts in your own head, how rational a decision can one make?? Carla was in crisis.
I don’t know why but it is actually quite humorous to me that you say abortion was the wrong decision for me. Mmmmmmm…yeah!! Picture me in a V8 commercial and I slap myself in the head and say, “I coulda had that baby!!”
How about off balance?
Janet, with “on balance” it’s the difference between the two sides.
With “off balance” I guess you could just say anything, since it wouldn’t be looking at what the woman feels overall.
(That was a pretty sober reply, eh?)
I didn’t know what else to do and when the only things you hear are the spinning thoughts in your own head, how rational a decision can one make??
Carla, yeah – we don’t always make the right decisions.
…..
I don’t know why but it is actually quite humorous to me that you say abortion was the wrong decision for me. Mmmmmmm…yeah!! Picture me in a V8 commercial and I slap myself in the head and say, “I coulda had that baby!!”
Is it that you feel something like, “After all Doug has said, it’s funny to hear him say that the abortion was the wrong decision”?
I do appreciate your humor, Carla, and that this is an intensely personal thing for you.
I feel like this……after all that Carla has been through with her abortion and the aftermath saying it was the wrong decision for me is kinda moot. Like…um…yeah…duh. :)
IfyouknowwhatImean.
It’s not all that intensely personal if I come on here and yap about it all the time, blog about it and just did Faces of Abortion. :O There are details about it that are intensely personal, but I talk about it so others can maybe understand.
Thanks for the talk, Doug. I felt heard by you.
(That was a pretty sober reply, eh?)
Posted by: Doug at July 1, 2008 3:14 PM
That’s OK, I was being sarcastic (sorry!) and your reply was very nice and respectful. :)
Janet, have to laugh – and you don’t even remotely need to apologize. Believe me – I thought of quite a few humorous responses to the “off balance” thing.
What’s the danger in living for seven days on one can of sardines?
You might fall off.
hehe.
Yo La Tango,
Bill Bennett did not gamble his life savings away. He never put his family’s welfare in jeopardy. It is not the way I would spend my money but let’s be accurate and keep things in perspective here.
Also, he was presenting an argument in response to a book recently written in which the author proposes the (fallacious) argument that since abortion has been made available that crime has gone down. Bill Bennett was bringing the author’s assertion to its logical end as crime numbers are higher among the black population proportionately.
Had you listened to the whole segment you would have known that he does not favor abortion for any one or any ethnicity. Unfortunately, liberals and many democrats resort to mudslinging or cheap shots rather than the facts.

Thank you for clarifying!
