Stanek on Bill Bennett, CNN tomorrow
The date and time has changed 3x now, but I think tomorrow between 5-6p EST the CNN segment on Barack Obama and the Born Alive issue is finally going to air. This is what CNN interviewed me for last week.
Bill Bennett is appearing live on CNN’s The Situation Room tomorrow during that time period and specifically requested that the segment await his ability to rebut and refute however Obama, his people, or CNN downplay Obama’s actions against Born Alive. Recall the exchange between Bennett and Obama supporter Donna Brazile last week in which Brazile contended the topic of gas prices was more important than infanticide.
Meanwhile, Bill Bennett will interview me on his radio show tomorrow morning at 8:05a EST about same. Find station listings here.

xalisae, I don’t know if you saw this but some woman who was raised by gay male parents said she didn’t feel like anyone was appreciating her femininity because they both loved men. So if a white guy marries and has a kid with a black woman, their children will grow up thinking their parents don’t appreciate the beauty of white women or black men just because they didn’t marry them? My Dad didn’t marry a vegetarian, neither did my Mom, but I know they can appreciate it in me.

I feel safer already. Also, I missed the first half, Jess. Was the woman who was so opposed to gay parents the one who was adopted? I was raised by a heterosexual couple, and I still have trouble appreciating my femininity. DD’s made tree climbing extra difficult after puberty, my dad can be kinda sexist anyway, and I almost never get along with other women because I usually intensely dislike what they like. Get over it. You can’t just blame other people for how you feel about yourself. If people learned to cultivate qualities in themselves they like, they wouldn’t need approval and validation from outside sources, and they would be a lot happier. The world would be a better place.

No actually I’m not sure. In fact they often make fun of me for it, see it as unnatural and just a phase, or a fad. Kind of like how some parents treat their gay sons or daughters?

That was funny. Maybe the gay and lesbian couples would have taken her more seriously if she would’ve come back at them with something more reasonable than just “I think gays shouldn’t be allowed to have children. I don’t think gays should be allowed to get married.” The crying didn’t help either, I’m sure. I wonder what that show would be like if they actually used rational, reasonable people, though.

Although I have been obsessed with Cinderella lately, some guy I’ve had a huge crush on for two years, we were texting last night =) I like to read the story and replace Cinderella and the prince with the two of us. Extreme girliness to a toxic level, right?
I’ve always been obsessed with reading Grimms fairy tales though, I wouldn’t consider any of those stories “girly”. At least not until Disney got to ’em.
TOTALLY. It kinda makes me sick how sanitized everything’s been made as of late. I think it’s good for a kid to learn how rough the world can be, and many kids don’t get the instruction they need just because their parents find it hard or awkward to explain these things to their kids. Watching a newer disney movie or the fairytales in Dora The Explorer with Maggie is just agonizing for me, because I have to stop and explain that the original was nothing like that, and practically tell her the whole thing myself anyway. I don’t see anything wrong with the stories as they were, and they were told that way for a long time, and it’s not like the world imploded because of it. But as far as inserting yourself into popular scenarios goes, ain’t nothing wrong with that…even if your choice is a little more frilly than what I’d choose. It’s fun to pretend though. hehe

I heard Jill speak on Bill’s show this morning and I am appalled at the stance Obama has taken and still takes on induced abortions. He’d allow an alive, albeit aboted, child to die alone in a waste utillity room? And people will vote for him in November? It is called infanticide, Sir.

Let kids be kids. They don’t need to know about all the pain in the world while their young. They’re only young for a few years, give them a break.
Kids can still be kids without having everything they are presented with turned sickeningly sweet. I used to play army with my cousins when I was little (I would always get mad because they wouldn’t let me fight. they said I could only be a nurse because I was a girl. -.-)
Also, believe it or not, the world can be a pretty harsh place, even for kids. But I don’t think that letting them know that sometimes people do bad things to other people, and sometimes those bad people get what’s coming to them, makes them any less of a child. For disliking liberals so much, you guys seem to want to raise your kids to be them.

Yeah, me too Doug. Especially like when they won’t let young people on the university campuses see the pictures of what an aborted baby looks like. I’m sure those pictures are also very bad since they point out the violent and traumatizing nature of abortion to babies.

My daughter only had female doctors and dentists when she was young. (we didn’t plan it that way, it just happened) Anyway, we told her once when she was four or five that her grandfather was a doctor and she said “He can’t be a doctor, he’s a boy.”
That’s awesome, Hal. :) And, that’s my point, Patricia. Horrible things exist in this world, and if you deny their existence to your kids in fantasy when they are young, it gets a lot easier for the very real horrible things that happen in adulthood to be denied by those same children when they’re older. And on a lighter note, what good is a story without villains and danger?

Patricia, I don’t think people should have those pictures shoved in their faces, so to speak, but I also feel that if somebody wants to know what abortions look like, etc., that they should certainly be able to find out. Anybody on a college campus, or just with a computer and internet access should have no problem there, in the first place.

That wasn’t what I was getting at. Since you mentioned it, I’d rather she rode a bus because at least Doug wouldn’t be morally responsible for participating in an abortion by driving her to an abortuary.

Oh, and something I just heard that I find rather amusing: Obama just made a beautiful speech about the difference in pay between males and females in our country. In true politician fashion, though, it was nothing more than pandering when one looks at the facts-Obama’s female staffers are paid on average $6,000 less than the men, and on average McCain staff females make about $2,500 more than men. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again (and I’ll say it proudly as a female minority!) DEMOCRATS ARE JUST USING YOU, WOMEN AND MINORITY GROUPS! Republicans don’t care who you are, as long as what you are saying is good.

My point exactly. So lets cast out ignorance and find the source. Sperm where it doesn’t belong sounds like an obvious place to start. And oh yeah, other male proteins act as an accelerant. I disagree – I know there are some women who regret having abortions, on balance. I don’t deny your experience – I believe you feel just as you say you do. I’m plenty informed, there, whether I know a given person offline or not. Whether I did or not, the fact remains that for some women having an abortion is the best thing to do in their circumstances, and that for some women it’s not the best thing.

There too I certainly can’t argue. I think it’s well over 20,000,000 US women who have had abortions, and for those who regret having abortions, overall, I think that’s too bad. I understand people who can’t have kids and want a baby, and I understand looking back and wanting that baby.
I don’t feel the facts that people can’t see the future and that they can’t guarantee they’ll always be pleased with their decisions justify taking away people’s legal choices, but I do agree that for you, having an abortion was the wrong thing

My first pregnancy didn’t have to be years later for me to have it. I was 24. Old enough to be a mom. Had I sought help, support and caring at a Pregnancy Care Center my girly would be 17.
I longed to hear the words, “I am here for you. You can count on me. I will help you all I can. You are not alone.” I didn’t want an abortion Doug. I needed and wanted help. I didn’t know what else to do and when the only things you hear are the spinning thoughts in your own head, how rational a decision can one make?? Carla was in crisis.
I don’t know why but it is actually quite humorous to me that you say abortion was the wrong decision for me. Mmmmmmm…yeah!! Picture me in a V8 commercial and I slap myself in the head and say, “I coulda had that baby!!”

Bill Bennett did not gamble his life savings away. He never put his family’s welfare in jeopardy. It is not the way I would spend my money but let’s be accurate and keep things in perspective here.
Also, he was presenting an argument in response to a book recently written in which the author proposes the (fallacious) argument that since abortion has been made available that crime has gone down. Bill Bennett was bringing the author’s assertion to its logical end as crime numbers are higher among the black population proportionately.
Had you listened to the whole segment you would have known that he does not favor abortion for any one or any ethnicity. Unfortunately, liberals and many democrats resort to mudslinging or cheap shots rather than the facts.
