Protesters force abortion mill out
Kudos to Green, OH, pro-lifers for making life (pardon the pun) so unbearable for all associated with G&H Healthcare, a “nonsurgical abortion provider” according to Ohio.com, i.e., an RU-486 medical abortion mill, that it is leaving town.
The trouble began earlier this summer when G&H made the mistake of setting up its chop-shop in an abortion-unfriendly city. Pro-lifers immediately started picketing the location and protesting to whomever would listen.
At a July 10 Green City Council meeting, Mayor Dick Norton announced, according to Akron Ohio News, that while the city was legally helpless to oust the human grist mill…
… the building’s landlords, CAM Inc.,.. intend to serve G&H with a 3-day notice to evict. Norton said he was told by the landlords the eviction is a result of the business causing a ‘disturbance’ to the other tenants in the building and ‘irregularities’ with G&H’s application.
Norton noted that this alone would not result in an immediate eviction, as G&H has several options it can pursue.
The option G&H is pursuing is vamoosing, which is the good news. The bad news is it is supposedly relocating to Akron. According to CantonRep.com, August 31:
The decision to relocate a women’s health clinic that offers abortion services from Green to Akron is being seen as a victory by anti-abortion activists, but others see it as an interference of access to medical care.
When G&H Healthcare opened its offices… this summer, it was greeted by daily anti-abortion pickets.
“The landlord (in Green) had become upset by protesters and, also, the clinic didn’t feel like it was the best environment for their patients,” said Kellie Copeland, spokeswoman for NARAL… who was authorized to speak for the clinic.
“Given what the situation had become there, they decided to leave; they were not evicted. They came to a joint agreement, and they found a more suitable location.”…
Copeland said the Akron site will open next month, though she declined to say where. G&H Healthcare… also operates clinics in Columbus, Toledo and Youngstown.

Good on them!
Too bad they couldnt get the entire thing shut down for good. However, I am happy they were so successful within their own town.
I know many “pro-lifers” who said they wanted an abortion when they thought they were pregnant because of course, their situation was so different from everyone else. *eyeroll*
Of course you don’t believe me, but all these people did was make life more difficult for themselves. Now they have to drive all the way over to Akron for their abortions. Akron is probably going to be in some neighborhood with a high percent of African Americans and of course you’re going to call them racist for moving there. No wonder though that abortion clinics are in working class neighborhoods, there residents don’t protest, they’re out working.
“Too bad they couldnt get the entire thing shut down for good. However, I am happy they were so successful within their own town.”
Kind of like, “Not In My Backyard” where white people don’t have a problem with African Americans until they move in next door?
No, kind of like “abortion is the unethical killing of human beings so we dont want it in our backyard.”
I think the removal of a concentration camp after a local German town protests would be a better comparison.

Instead of saying “many”, can you give the actual number of “pro-lifers” you know who went through with the abortions? It’s one thing to say “I want an abortion” and another to actually follow through with it.
Janet,
Many is a subjective term. It technically only means “at least one.” I think its safe to say that “at least one” person has supported a value (pro-life) but not actually walk that path (have an abortion.)
I think it goes to show how amazing both Sarah and Bristol Palin are that they did not take the “easy” route. Sarah could have easily pressured Bristol into an abortion to help her campaign. Instead they both chose to “walk their talk” as they say.
Janet 8:46am
Despite the totally bogus “concern” and santimonious chest pounding of the media over Palin’s DS baby and pregnant daughter, they would have loved nothing more than for her to view herself as an “exception” and aborted her own DS baby as well as her daugher’s. Then they could engage in sanctimonious chest pounding over the “typical hypocritical PLer” who thinks her situation is so different.
Does the MSM ever realize just how transparent they really are?
Mary and Oliver, Amen!
Mary, I think it was you that commented on another thread; “What’s old is new again”. Although unplanned pregnancy has been around forever, for 35 years it was conveniently swept under the rug via abortion. All of a sudden, we find people like the Palins who are not denying that pregnancies have real living breathing creatures – babies who need be loved and nurtured, and MSM can’t ignore abortion anymore. Thank God for the Palins!
So – racketeering is alive and well. Isn’t this why we have RICO laws? A bishop was complicit in molesting kids…can I protest outside church while service is going on until they kick him out of town? nope, and I wouldn’t want to. But you want to intimidate people into not getting a legitimate medical procedure. Wow.
Do you also goto walgreens and poke holes in the condoms if you don’t like birth control? Where does this end?

Actually, you can. Feel free to feel passionate about a cause or injustice some time. Of course, that takes effort.
As somebody once posted on another website I visit, “ain’t free speech a wonderful thing, until you don’t like the views being stated?” The protestors were just using their Constitutionally protected rights.

Why wouldn’t you want to? If you knew him to be guilty why wouldn’t you protest until he’s removed and arrested? Do you think you’re helping your point by making yourself look apathetic?

This is about killing babies, not mob control. I believe RICO has been found inapplicable regarding protests at abortion clinics, no?

Not a bad idea, except that would just increase abortions… Never mind.
Yeah!!! Praise the Lord.
that was me
Jess,
People think irrationally when they are put in harrowing situations. If someone killed a close family member of yours, your first instinct would probably be to exact revenge on the murderer by killing him. Of course, our laws are structured so that people who seek such revenge also do jail time, just as there should be laws to prevent a pregnant woman from executing the growing baby she put in her womb by choosing to have sex (unprotected or otherwise).
Decisions on life require careful thought, and your stance on them should be considered while you’re not in a position where the temptation to compromise your principles is great. That is why we need laws in place to prevent people from succumbing to that temptation. Wouldn’t it be ridiculous if we were to say, “let’s abolish all discrimination laws – we can trust ourselves to see that everyone receives fair treatment”?
Jess,
When you say you know many pro-life women who’ve had abortions, Are you referrring to this old pro-choice gem:
http://mypage.direct.ca/w/writer/anti-tales.html
full of one-sided ancedotes and hear-say from pro-choice activists and abortion providers? And I encourage you to step up and answer Janet’s challenges, instead of saying “many”, can you give the actual number of “pro-lifers” you know who went through with the abortions?
BTW, I’m only responding to this because I’m sick of pro-choicers throwing that particular propoganda piece around and blind acceptance of it without questioning it’s accuracy or authenticity. Also, I would like to add a thought I once heard from another pro-lifer. Despite pro-choicer’s eagerness to throw into our faces ancedotes of pro-lifers choosing abortion as a claim that abortion is moral in some cases to pro-lifers, but the truth is and it is important to remember this, if abortion is the taking of a human life and intrisicly morally wrong, then actions of pro-lifers do no bear merit on the moral value of abortion.
super – so now they’ll get unsafe abortions that are even MORE brutal than legal methods and will put themselves at risk as well — fabulous idea… hope you can sleep at night when some kid dies giving themself an abortion with a coat hanger because you took away their access to safe healthcare.
