Remembering 9/11
Kevin Cosgrove’s 911 call…
Home video from nearby highrise…
Read President Bush’s 2008 9/11 Proclamation (written by Daena) here.
And Ann Coulter’s column yesterday, in part here::
A year after the 9/11 attack, the New York Times’ Frank Rich was carping about Bush’s national security plans, saying we could judge Bush’s war on terror by whether there was a major al-Qaida attack in 2003, which – according to Rich – would have been on al-Qaida’s normal schedule….
There wasn’t a major al-Qaida attack in 2003. Nor in 2004, 2005, 2006 or 2007. Manifestly, liberals thought there would be: They announced a standard of success that they expected Bush to fail.
As Bush has said, we have to be right 100% of the time; the terrorists only have to be right one time. Bush has been right 100% of the time for seven years – so much so that Americans have completely forgotten about the threat of Islamic terrorism.
For his thanks, President Bush has been the target of almost unimaginable calumnies….
George Bush is Gary Cooper in the classic western “High Noon.” The sheriff is about to leave office when a marauding gang is coming to town. He could leave, but he waits to face the killers as all his friends and all the townspeople, who supported him during his years of keeping them safe, slowly abandon him. In the end, he walks alone to meet the killers, because someone has to.
That’s Bush. Name one other person in Washington who would be willing to stand alone if he had to, because someone had to.
OK, there is one, but she’s not in Washington yet. Appropriately, at the end of “High Noon,” Cooper is surrounded by the last two highwaymen when, suddenly, his wife (Grace Kelly) appears out of nowhere and blows away one of the killers! The aging sheriff is saved by a beautiful, gun-toting woman.
Moderators, please delete any anti-America, anti-Bush comments from this post.

OMG, I just realized that today’s Sept 11!
I’m not American, but I feel a deep sense of sadness remembering today. I still feel incredible disbelief that people would do such a thing.
God bless America and all American’s are in my prayers this day.
Ya gotta love Ann C! You know what they say “Sometimes the best man for the job is a woman!” (Maybe Palin…..)
For an excellent book on the firefighters of 9/11 read Firehouse by David Halberstam. It presents these first responders in a real but respectful manner. Very very good.
God bless.
Eternal rest grant onto them, O Lord.
May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen
On this day of prayer I hope you will all add one more.
Last night my friend’s 12 year old daughter was involved in an accident and killed. She is the only child of my friend and her husband. Today is my friend’s birthday. Please keep them all in your prayers.
Sam,
Amen.
Kristen. I’m so sorry! That’s horrible. Yes, I’ll pray for them. Just awful.
Oh wow, I had seen the first video before, but not the second one. Both make me cry.
Kristen, I am so very sorry for your friend’s loss!!! On her birthday… how terrible! I can’t imagine how hard that will be for them… I will pray for them.
Deana, you did an excellent job on the proclamation.
God Bless America.
Prayed with my children this morning for all of those still grieving the loss of their loved ones. I will never forget that day.
Kristen,
How horrible. I will pray for your friend.
In God We Trust
God Bless America.
Ann Coulter, you are so right on with your analysis of Bush hatred. You couldn’t more correct.
Never forget what happened that morning. No matter how much some might want for us to forget, both in our misdt and abroad. People died. They died just because they lived a different life than their killers, and let none of us think for even a moment that any of us who live our lives apart from these murderers’ twisted ideologies would be spared were they given the chance to kill us. Military, civilian, men, women, children-they do not care. They have no mercy; abide by no rules of combat. No damage done by them is considered collateral. We must remember that those who have harmed us are still at work in the world. When we are urged in a now almost cliche gesture to “Never forget.”, remember not only the day, but every bloody detail. Those people had names, and lives. Those buildings and planes were filled with real people. Those who killed them were GLAD to have done it, and did so unprovoked.
Never forget.
I can’t believe its been 7 years. :( I remember turning on ABC waiting for the Ananda Lewis show to begin (I was an NSYNC fan and they were to be guests). I was like “what’s going on? Why isn’t the show on?”
Someone from my parish lost her sister. 9/11/01 is the new Pearl Harbor. We should NEVER forget!
You know, it’s so strange. My mom is a fourth grade teacher, and we were talking yesterday about how the children in her classroom were only two or three years old and to them, Sept. 11 seems very much like history. Like the Vietnam War does to me, or like World War II for my parents. Well, perhaps not quite so grandiose, but you get my drift. Maybe a better comparison is how my great-grandmother described when Kennedy was shot- that feeling of knowing she’d always remember where she was and what she was doing.
I was fairly young when this happened, in 8th grade. And I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing. And I can’t help but wonder…
Do you think that the victims would be proud of us?
xalisae…agreed.
We must never forget. How or why some people have blamed OUR government for being behind such a thing, I will never understand. We have photos, names, plans, etc. of the people who did this, and we know their ideologies.
As I watched this horror unfold that day seven years ago, I was pregnant with our son and our daughter was a toddler. I remember knowing that our world would never be the same…and it never has been.
Thank you, men and women of our armed forces, men and women of our first responders teams, men and women in leadership in our country, men and women of the city of New York, men and women of America who put their lives on the line to secure our freedom every day. And thank you, Lord, for this great country where we have the freedom of speech and religion. Help us not to treat our freedoms lightly.
BTW, Kristen, I am so sorry for your friend’s loss…I can’t even imagine. :( She and her family are in my prayers.
Thank you President George W. Bush. You kept your word to protect us from all enemies foreign.
However, Mr. Bush, our domestic enemies, those that would attack this country and say that you had a hand in 9/11, and g-damn America, these you have not protected us against.
I urge to speak forcefully against those that hate and demean and lie about our country, most of whom support Barack Obama. One who particularly comes to mind is one spineless Kieth Olberman.
Mr. President, you think Kieth would have been willing to go into one of those burning towers?
” How or why some people have blamed OUR government for being behind such a thing, I will never understand. ”
I really don’t want to turn our remembering day into a political discussion. However, many people also blamed Clinton for what happened. Let’s just say there were some things out of our control, and some things that were systematic failures at different levels. So it was all of these factors that contributed to the tragedy, not just one, and the only thing we can do is correct some of the things that are correctable and remember those that were lost.
The scream at the end of that first video is gut wrenching…
God help us all.
I will always remember the people running out while all of the firefighters were running in. Such bravery!!
I can’t imagine the thought process behind promoting Ann Coulter on this post and on this day, in view of Ann Coulter mocking the 9/11 widows as “enjoying their husband’s deaths”
This is not an anti-America or Anti-Bush comment, it is a call for common decency.
it was all of these factors that contributed to the tragedy, not just one, and the only thing we can do is correct some of the things that are correctable and remember those that were lost.
I agree, PIP.
“Do you think that the victims would be proud of us?”
Absolutely. Proud that we have not allowed ourselves to be attacked again in similar or worse fashion for 7 years. And knock on wood, that success will continue. Proud that we have not allowed the US Constitution to become a suicide pact.
In any event, it doesn’t matter whether they are proud or not. What matters is that we are safe and we have maintained our way of life.
And that’s all I have to say about it, pretty much.
” How or why some people have blamed OUR government for being behind such a thing, I will never understand. ”
I really don’t want to turn our remembering day into a political discussion. However, many people also blamed Clinton for what happened.
PIP, if you didn’t want to turn it into one, then why did you? I don’t believe I mentioned ONE SINGLE name in my post. I said OUR GOVERNMENT. People have blamed our government for being directly behind the attacks. As I watch the videos, I am still stunned at how anyone could think such a thing.
Let’s just say there were some things out of our control, and some things that were systematic failures at different levels. So it was all of these factors that contributed to the tragedy, not just one, and the only thing we can do is correct some of the things that are correctable and remember those that were lost.

My point was that it’s never helpful to blame our government for a tragedy that was directly perpetrated by those who hate this nation. Did you not watch the video taken by the woman in New York? Her first statement was “This was a terrorist attack” not, “Geesh, I wonder if our government was behind this.” No one in our government twisted the arms of the terrorists, forcing them to fly commercial airliners full of people into buildings full of people. NO ONE.
sorry, my italics got screwed up.
And Sue, great post.
Sorry, mods, if you feel my post is too inflammatory, please feel free to delete it. Thanks.
Thank you all for the prayers.
Kel, I’ve been reading your posts and enjoy them. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for my friends.
Kel @ 10:02,

Kristen @ 8:19,
On this day of prayer I hope you will all add one more.
Last night my friend’s 12 year old daughter was involved in an accident and killed. She is the only child of my friend and her husband. Today is my friend’s birthday. Please keep them all in your prayers.
I am so sorry for your friend’s loss of her only daughter. I will keep her family in my prayers. God bless you.
do not like to favor comments but Sue has me a wee bit riled,
Many Americans it seems have a profound dumbing-down when it comes to politicians at election time. Please read this very astutely. Codex has written that the expected casualties will be 2 billion humans killed worldwide-immediately and a further 1 billion soon after. The 3,100 killed in 9/11 and the 50 million in abortions pale beside such estimates…. http://www.naturalnews.com/024128.html
For some time, I’ve blogged about nutritional status as being implicated in the abortion fiasco. Some people think that this refers only to pregnancy … it’s NOT!
To even consider (intellectually) that it is OK to kill any other human is crazy. I think every one of us (not just women; not just teens and not just pregnant women) needs a vast improvement in personal nutrition. To start, try: http://www.getwellstaywellnow.com/
Jill: Thank you for your work in exposing infanticide and its supporters (or, at least, those who refuse to vote against it, like Barack Obama). I am also glad at your opposition to violence in the womb. I would like you to reconsider your support of Pres. Bush. How many prosecutions of infanticide has the Bush administration brought? Zero, right? Additionally, I would like you to reconsider your support of the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan. Stopping Al Queda attacks has been primarily due to the extremely undeserved grace of God & good and timely intelligence in other countries. The wars in Iraq & Afghanistan have made terrorism much worse than it otherwise would be, creating terrorists & terrorist sympathizers that would not otherwise exist. A substantial cause of Al Queda itself was the U.S.’s prior covert foreign intervention in Afghanistan and support of one or more persons who later formed Al Queda. When will we ever learn that the way of the Nazarene is not that of violence, but of peace, both in the womb & in foreign countries as well? Thanks, Ross Heckmann
Thanks foor posting this Jill, while some may find the 911 call macabre, it is a reminder to me and soldiers like me of why we do what we do.
Never Forget
Anthony,
Thank you for the sacrifices you and others make so my children and I can be free. Thank you hardly seems enough.
God bless you!!
John McD,
“…killed immediately…”
When???
And I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing.
Right on, Erin.
Through the generations there have been Pearl Harbor, JFK getting killed, and 9/11…
Anthony @ 7:49,
Thank you for the sacrifices you make every day for our FREEDOM. Words can’t express how grateful I am to you and all the men and women serving our country.
The video you posted on your site is very moving. God bless you and your family!
“: I said OUR GOVERNMENT. People have blamed our government for being directly behind the attacks”
Oh, I’m sorry. I have been having to skim lately because I am so busy :(
I thought you were talking about people who blame Bush for security failures. Just saying there was finger pointing at both sides thats all :)
Janet,
according to the article, implementation BEGINS this December 31 and full-implementation will be by December 31, 2009. He also talks about growing-your-own food: you may have to do so quickly to survive.
This threat is so near …. why aren’t politicians talking about it? Does big-business interests come before your life? Wonder what Obama or McCain will do. Will you/your-family get sold-out?
John McD,
I would bet that McCain and Obama have not heard of any of this. What do you think?
Not to be flippant, but I’d better go find myself a piece of land.
YIKES.
Hi Janet,
have no idea whether they know or not. Just trying to get any politician interested in a story not carried by any media is a formidable task. (Many health buffs assume that the reason for such a blackout is that the media does not question the advertisers especially those like Big-Pharma.)
There’s a day planned to explain services to baby-boomers who will soon be retirees. If Codex gets its way, most people over 50 will be dead or dying. The main ‘service’ for that age group will be a funeral service …. after bilking you of your money via useless orthodox medical approaches.
John, your knowledge about some things is unmatched, in my opinion.
But I also think you go in for conspiracy stuff too.
My main 9/11 memory is two people I knew from online, from financial message boards – the old “Fearless Forecaster” part of AOL, going back to the mid 1990’s.
That community has servived to a good extent, now at traders-talk.com. There is even a “Fearless Forecaster” poll and sentiment gauge, noted in many financial analyses, and I’m personally one of those polled.
So, it’s 2001, and it was a sunny day in September and man oh man did it hit the fan.
I had met one person through that message board in NYC, but they didn’t work in the World Trade Center. The other two did, and of course none of their online friends knew anything for what seemed like a very long time.
One of the two worked in the North tower – the first one hit – below the impact area and they evacuated right away, no messing around, and they are fine to this day.
The other was above where the plane hit, wife and kids survive him.
Doug,
just what do I do? The global warming craze, I disagree with ‘cuz it’s bad science.
I am for this understanding: because it has been planned for years. Codex themselves have written about this very scenario …. it’s PLANNED & ITS IN THEIR OWN WRITING. Codex is not small, several thousand in fact.
so I do not think it will just blow away …. nor be a non-event, like Y2K was. So if you plan on doing zip, kiss all your loved ones goodbye … just-in-case.
Janet and Carla,
“Thank You”, is more than enough and greatly appreciated.
-Anthony
Anthony:
Semper Fi…..God protect you my son.
John, on global warming, the evidence increases all the time. I think that in the end there won’t be much disagreement about it at all, but for now it’s a continuum of change – more and more people being convinced all the time.
There have been temperature changes before, certainly, but not increases as fast as what we’re now experiencing, and what I’ve seen does lay out a good case that the extra “greenhouse gases” that human activity produces is meaningfully above the earth’s ability to “take in” or neutralize (otherwise, things are fairly well in balance). Not saying “The End is Near,” either, just that we really are having an effect.
On the Codex deal – is this where pharmaceutical companies are encouraging and/or controlling things to the point where ineffective vaccines are stocked for bird flu, which then would spread around the world, resulting in all that killing you’re talking about?
Doug,
a wee bit of the science: the ‘greenhouse’ effect means that radiation (that normally is reflected off into space) is instead reflected back to earth by the clouds. In a way that radiation is caught between the earth and the clouds, leading to a build-up of heat. In a greenhouse panes of glass (silica) take the place of clouds. So The amount of warming is directly related to the amount of cloud-cover. Problem is there has been significantly LESS cloud-cover in recent years.
Secondly, the physics of a catastrophic warming implies that the ionosphere is also warming. Weather balloons say this temperature is constant and even dropping a little. So much of this heating is at the surface only (internal stuff) and that has zip to do with human activity especially regarding weather patterning and fluid gases like our air.
The flu/bird vaccine is based on even poorer science. Some feel that government agencies are hoping to instill fear in their populace and thereby diminish rights and make a populace more compliant when the bilking begins … http://www.healthfreedomusa.org/
John, what I’ve seen is people talking about the “Codex plan to kill millions and millions of people,” etc., and that’s the conspiracy stuff I mentioned.
Why would the ionosphere have to warm up, for the “greenhouse effect” to apply down below? The surface of the earth is where we live, so temperature change there can be a huge deal, and the greenhouse gases operate almost exclusively below the ionosphere.
It’s not “clouds” that account for the world’s warming, it’s the greenhouse gases themselves. A warming world could be expected to have less cloud cover in the first place – the hotter air is, the more moisture it can hold without condensing, without forming clouds.
Some of the Sun’s radiation passes through the atmosphere and hits the earth, warming it. This is especially true of shorter-wavelength radiation.
The warmed earth then reradiates some of the heat as longer-wave infrared, most of which cannot escape he blanket of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, resulting in the earth’s surface being about 33 degrees Centigrade (59 Fahrenheit) than it would be without the air containing those gases.
