Obama is on video saying he wants to establish a “civilian security force”. We can’t depend on our military for national security, we need a “civilian security force” that is just as well funded, just as powerful, and just as strong.

Maybe you can explain this “civilian security force”. Is this made up of civilian volunteers? How will they be armed? To what extent will they be as powerful and as strong as our military? It makes me think of the 1968 movie “Shadow on the Land” which depicted the US under a dictatorship. The force keeping the people in line, and the dictator in power, was the “Internal Security Force”. What an odd coincidence.
Also, Obama plans to bankrupt the coal industry. Sure coal plants can be built, but the fine slapped on them will be enormous. We can expect skyrocketing electric rates(Obama’s words) as well as massive unemployment from efforts to destroy the coal industry.

That second probe was performed by a committee that answers to Palin if I remember correctly. Who’s going to rat out their boss and risk their job, or risk not being carried along if there’s an opportunity to do so? I’d certainly say the committee has an ulterior motive to find her clear of wrong doing.
No charges were being pressed for her ethics violation regardless if I remember correctly, it simply goes down that she has been found guilty of ethics violations, unfortunately like many politicians in Alaska.
I hope the Dianne Wilkerson case here ends up going to trial, and I do hope she is held accountable. What she did was inexcusable as well. Ugh.

As I understand it, a civil union gives all the rights that “marriage” does, for hospital visitation, legal purposes, etc.
Marriage involves a religious witness, civil union doesn’t.

Hal, committed love between a husband and wife is not a vice so long as it remains subservient to both spouses’ love to God. Lust, however, is always a vice. Homosexuality is an expression of lust.

And I’m not so sure that Christianity has never been the official state religion in the United States. I could be wrong, but the founding fathers took Christianity for granted. Do not some American coins proclaim, “In God we trust?” And was not that God supposed to be the God of the Bible? Read some of the influential Americans of the past, e.g. the first president or one or both Websters, and you will quickly discover how highly they regarded the Christian religion–and its necessity for the good of the country. Certainly the heritage, not just of the United States, but of Western civilization, is to a large degree Christian.
Separation of church and state does not mean separation of religion and state. Obviously, it cannot mean separation of religion and state. Religion affects all of life, culture and government too.
Religious freedom does not mean today what it did several hundred years ago. Freedom of religion had to do with different competing strains of Christianity–not Christianity, Mohamedism, and secular humanism.

Jon, what part of “consenting adults” do you not understand? I realize I didn’t say it above, but I didn’t think anybody would be STUPID enough to not understand that that’s what I meant.
Bicycles cannot consent. Children cannot consent. Dogs cannot consent.

Also, children and dogs can consent. Some mechanics might even speak of consenting bicycles.
Also, dogs exist as both adults (the females are called bitches) and children (puppies).
But from the beginning of history, marriage has been defined as the union of a man and a woman.
The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Gen. 2:18
Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said,
