If you are a liberal, any person you hate is one too many people on this planet.
As a liberal, I can agree with most of PRIs aims. Population control policies are a violation of human rights. Family planning is a pillar of healthcare that families should use to ensure both healthy spacing of pregnancies, and the optimum number of children a couple can handle, physically, emotionally, and yes, economically.
PRIs own site states:
At PRI, we believe that every family has the right to choose the timing and spacing of their children.
I couldn’t agree more.

Dhalgren, are you insinuating that that this spacing can be achieved through the abortion of those that are not appropriately timed/spaced?
Yeah, but the eco-crazies want populations to plummet. This way the trees and salamanders can return to the land that man stole, while at the same time the liberal greenie can have an easier time finding a parking space at the mall.

Those who are fully convinced human presence is such an evil, should demonstrate their convictions and take one for the planet – then decompose.
This may be a bit off the wall, but I loved the stick-figure animated illustrations in the videos. Some of them were hilarious, such as the stick-figure conking an “undesirable” on the head (see the 2nd video). And no, I’m not saying we should conk people on the head (it’s sad that there are people who advocate killing off people they believe are “undesirable” for whatever reason). I just appreciated the cartoonish humor throughout the videos.
The world is not overpopulated….yet. But eventually it very well could be. But that doesn’t mean that the world should just allow population to grow unchecked.
No, I don’t want any government to interfere with the private lives of married couples and force them to have abortions. That’s wrong.
But it’s equally wrong to try to make abortion illegal, because this has catastrophic results for society. Not only does this not stop abortion, it actually INCREASES it, and causes many women to die from botched illegal abortions, and increases poverty,crime and unemployment.
And as I’ve pointed out before, the world’s population has more than doubled in the past 50 years.
The world also does not have unlimited sources of food,water and other necessities, and there is also only a limited amount of inhabitable space on earth for human beings. The more space people take, the more the environment is compromised and damaged. These are facts. No, we shouldn’t get hysterical about overpopulation, but we also shouldn’t get complacent about it either.
The world doesn’t even do enough to take care of all the children who HAVE been born. How can we expect people to just have more children with no regards for the consequences?
There are vast armies of street children in Brazil – abandoned by their mothers because they had too many mouths to feed as a result of no access to contraceptive and abortion. A country with too many people and too few resources is doomed to become a failed state. The Population Research Institute is a group with ties to the Roman Catholic Church – an organization which believes in unfettered reproduction. One of the IPI’s founders is Paul Marx, a Catholic priest whose anti abortion zealotry was coupled with anti-Semiticism.

Artemis: 1. The Catholic Church does not believe in “unfettered reproduction.” The beliefs about openness to life are much more nuanced than that. You might be surprised to know that the Church promotes natural family planning which is completely safe, natural, environmentally friendly and 99 percent effective. Oh, and FYI, it’s also free. When taught to 3rd world women it is highly successful; unfortunately many government-sponsored health programs refuse to give it a second look.
2. Do you really think that picking out one Catholic who may or may not espouse an anti-Catholic position such as anti-Semitism is some sort of logical way of invalidating all Catholic teaching? Sheesh.
Berger keeps claiming that making abortion illegal will increase it.
This is nonsensical.
I could see claiming it won’t decrease, or that making some or all contraceptives illegal will increase abortion. But how one can expect to have any credibility while claiming that criminalizing something will increase it is irrational.
There might be a possibility of a case if any sort of restrictions on abortions were allowed, but they aren’t. Waiting periods and informed consent and actually seeing what the procedure will destroy–these will interfere with choice! (The abortuaries’ choice to take advantage of the women who come to them.)
Berger prefers killing the unwanted before they can clutter up his life. That way he can avoid charity and compassion. Not that he has any say or clue, since he’s not a woman.
It is truly amazing how this myth is perpetuated. I wish this message would really get out there for everyone to see.
