Wow! GREAT video!
This video is good–to an extent.
We are not just a republic; we are a republican democracy. Or, we are a democratic republic. Majority “factions” (to use a term from the Federalist Papers) decide all kinds of things, including who are our senators, representatives and, indirectly, our president. However, the Constitution (in particular, the Bill of Rights) protects our basic rights from the “mob rule” of the “factions” in a basic democracy. Therefore, e.g., even if everyone but I votes that my back yard be transformed into a public park, my land cannot be taken away without a hearing on eminent domain.
The problem for pro-lifers is that law schools have forgotten–or failed or chose not– to teach the last several generations of lawyers to look at the writing within the 4 corners of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, the latter which re-states God’s Natural Law, that we are endowed by Our Creator with the right to life. Rather, legal cases from the 20th and 21st centuries have turned incestuously upon the musings of judges in prior cases (and lawyers and judges will tell you that precedent is very important, but with virtually no respect for the constitutional rights of individuals and restraints on the government).
So, to summarize, the video ignores the beauty of our republican democracy. Plus, I cannot help to notice that it fails to recognize God and natural law. These points being the case, I believe that this video may be meant to incite problems rather than to unite well-intentioned people from both sides of the aisle.
