Lunch Break: “Telephone” remake
To give us a break from the daily grind…
From the Smoking Gun comes the info on this video:
In what may be the most entertaining music video homage ever shot in a war zone, a group of American soldiers stationed at a military base in southwest Afghanistan star in a lip-synced version of Lady Gaga’s hit “Telephone.” The video, which yesterday began to spread online, was filmed recently inside what appears to be a garage at the Forward Operating Base in Farah Province.

One more reason not to repeal don’t ask don’t tell.
Somehow I don’t think this gives our troops the image of being tough on terrorism.
Not the Army my father fought in. This would have been a big NO.
Those guys are bored.
No, really. My brother has done two tours in Iraq. He was in an actual firefight all of once. One person was injured, nobody was killed. Which is good. But virtually nothing else ever happened. At all.
Our troops don’t need to have the “image of being tough on terrorism.” They are tough on terrorism, and everyone knows it. If they goof off in their spare time (and become internet sensations while they’re at it), more power to them. The poor guys are bored silly and they don’t have space in their bags to pack a lot of books.
I for one thought this was funny.
Like Keli said, they’re just bored, and that’s a good thing. They’re not gay — they just understand that guys dressing up as women is funny. It’s a parody.
As to whether this was appropriate: I’d like to think that our armed forces actually have a sense of humor. The terrorists want to keep us terrorized, and as soon as we become as stern-faced as TSA officers, the terrorists will have won.
I agree Chris. God bless them. They are just a bunch of guys hamming it up.
The stress can be awful for men and women over in Afghanistan. I know. A man from my parish is a Roman Catholic chaplain to both American and Canadian troops. It’s NOT fun. :(
