Jivin J’s Life Links 7-20-10

“I get there about 7:30 a.m. every Saturday, and the police are already there waiting for me, but I started speaking about racism and how it is coming back to this country, and I guess the police didn’t like to hear that,” Wallace said.
Under the agreement, the anti-abortion group received more than $700 it should have been paid over the last 2 years. Youth Protecting Youth was also formally reinstated as a club, and the students’ society revised its policies to expunge the sections that targeted anti-abortion groups.
The group had its funding cut after posting what I believe were some Feminists for Life posters (shocking, I know) and hosting a debate. Weak-minded pro-choicers complained and the student society declared the debate harassment. James Coccola, the student society chair, wouldn’t admit any wrongdoing and he shows that he has no understanding of free speech:
Coccola conceded universities should welcome free speech, but insisted there are limits.
“There are ways of phrasing messages that don’t come across as negative to people,” he said.

Ashley, I’m inclined to agree. This isn’t like the Schiavo case, where there was dissention among the family about what she really wanted. There is no doubt here, no need to err on the side of life. While suicide is tragic and not something that society ought to encourage, at least it doesn’t violate anyone else’s rights. Unlike abortion, this truly does concern one person and one body. It should be Mr. Nicklinson’s choice.
Illness and injury are sometimes followed by a very deep depression. But why should we address that when it’s so much easier to just kill people? And turning his wife into a murder sure only hurts one person doesn’t it? Naw, she’ll never have nightmares, nor will she ever get depressed. Oh, if she does, we can kill her too right? Cuz depression is a good enough motive for murder right?
Rebecca Sive’s seething rant is incoherent. The woman is obviously filled with anger and violence… how sad. Nothing short of subsidized baby-killing for all will satisfy her.
That’s what is so creepy about pro-aborts like her. They just ooze viciousness. Against a BABY. Sick.
I have to disagree with you Kelsey. Killing is still killing, no matter the age of the person. I am 100% pro life….from the womb to the tomb (natural death not “mercy killing”). This would be assisted suicide. Its not natural to help someone kill themselves.
When they were murdering Terri Schiavo, the media was full of reports about how “peaceful” it is to die without food and water, in the attempt to portray her murder as being the same as cutting off life support to a brain-dead person.
If this guy wants to commit suicide, why go through all the trouble of having his wife kill him with drugs? Why doesn’t he simply refuse food and drink?
(Could it be that letting a helpless person thirst to death isn’t that peaceful or merciful after all?)
Agree with Clarice (he can refuse food and water) and Ninek (his wife–or whoever kills him–will not have an easy conscience). Also, that he should be treated for depression (almost always present when someone wants to kill himself/herself) by a competent (pro-life) psychologist.
Do also agree this is not the same as the Schiavo case, if he is making the decision himself.
