Mother pregnant with 2 babies, not twins
According to AOLNews.com, July 17:
A UT woman is pregnant with 2 babies, but they’re not twins….
Angie Cromar was born with a rare condition called didelphys, which means she has 2 uteruses. It didn’t pose a problem for her previous pregnancies, and the 34-year-old has given birth to 2 healthy children before.
But this time, she’s conceived in both uteruses. During her 1st ultrasound exam, Cromar and her doctor discovered that she’s carrying 2 fetuses at different stages of development, one slightly older than the other.
“[He said] I’m 5 weeks and 4 days in one, and 6 weeks and 1 day in the other,” Cromar [said]…
The chances of this happening are estimated to be 1 in 5 million. “Probably less than 100, so far, worldwide, have been reported,” [Dr. Steve] Terry, [Cromar’s Ob/Gyn] said. “So she’s a member of a small, elite club.”
Cromar herself is a labor and delivery nurse, and knows the complications her condition can bring: chances of pre-term labor and low birth weight….
Here’s a news story and very interesting ultrasound…

My hunch is the babies will be delivered by c-section at the same time.
I thought this comment was pretty funny…
Interestingly, the hat tip for this post goes to pro-abort Amanda Marcotte on Twitter…
I’ll never be able to figure out the mind of a pro-abort.

Okay I’m with you, Jill. I don’t get how being pregnant in two uteruses is cool but having and loving 19 children is so less cool. Granted, given the abnormality of having more than one uterus that gives it a certain level of uniqueness, but then again, I don’t see every couple running around having and loving 19 children. So I’d say they’re both cool in their own right.
How interesting! I have a friend whose sister is only 8 months older than she is (my friend was a preemie). Until now, I had never heard of non-twin siblings closer in age than they are.
Very cool. I wish them a healthy pregnancy!
And LOL at the Dingoangst comment.
That’s awesome! :-)
I hope Angie has a healthy rest of the pregnancy.
Wow! That is amazing!
I do know there was a woman on a morning news show a year ago who was pregnant with two babies not twins. One baby was almost a full month older than the other. Pregnancy does NOT always prevent ovulation and women CAN conceive two children only a few weeks or months apart though it is extremely, extremely rare. So they were going to delay delivery as long as possible to give the younger baby a better chance.
This woman with two uteruses developed this condition when she herself was in HER mother’s womb. Babies start out as tubes that curl around. The two halves meet forming the face, the chest, the genitals, etc…Thus when the two sides don’t quite fuse you have cleft palate etc…
I have a slightly septated uterus which also occurred when I was an embryo in my mother. Which is so odd because pro-choicers always led me to believe I was a blob of tissue for 9 months and then I magically became a baby while slithering out of my mother’s vulva. I never knew what happened to me as an embryo could stay with me my whole life.
Reminds me of one of the stories on “Strange Pregnancies”, that was on Discovery Health last week.
This doesn’t make any sense to me. That would mean that she would have to have ovulated twice, one week apart. Being that ovulation is regulated by hormones in her blood which is going to BOTH uteruses (uteri?) at the same time, she should ovulate and menstruate at about the same time in both. I know some women occasionally ovulate twice during an extra-long cycle, but that would just be a rarity on top of another rarity!
Usually ovulation occurs within 24 hours of the first ovulation. But considering sperm can live from 3-5 days in a woman so that could come into play too.
That sure is very strange. and that comment about not having sex more than once a month is so hilarious. I haven’t been able to convince my husband about that. =)
Wow!
What’s their beef against Michelle Duggar?
I’m actually amazed that the proaborts aren’t calling on her to abort one of the babies. :(
Like Jill, I can’t understand the proabort mindset. It certainly (and thankfully) isn’t run by logic.
Yea your right no logic at all… just medical evidence and scientific method.
So, in this situation with one fetus being older than the other it is very possible “if you read up on her condition, that an abortion may in fact be necessary as her condition could cause her to lose them both. I sincerely hope it is NOT necessary, but under these conditions your stance would be let all three of them die? I am asking, from your point of view if one of the fetuses seriously threatened the life of the other and the mom, what would you suggest? By your argument, would be gods will to let all three die? If she did abort one would she be so devastated she couldn’t raise the other? These are the types of situations your argument does not take into account or provide a solution to.
Pro-choice people do not LIKE abortions, we love babies as much as the rest of you as most of us are parents, we just refuse to give up OUR rights for YOUR religious beliefs, and as I can already hear the arguments spinning around in your heads I will state one more time…
AN UN-BORN CHILD HAS NO RIGHTS UNDER THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
Biggz,
Who is saying an abortion is necessary? Why not let nature take its course and let the doctors treat her as needed instead of preemptively killing her baby? Religion has nothing to do with the fact that she is carrying two separate human beings in her womb(s).
Biggz…whats your point. At one point the you could say “Black people have no rights under the Constitution of the United States of America!”
And really, the Constitution does NOT guarantee a woman the right to an abortion. Where do you pro-aborts get that? READ THE CONSTITUTION why don’t ya?
“Pro-choice people do not LIKE abortions, we love babies as much as the rest of you”…
Sorry honey, but I’ve heard and read one too many times pro-aborts calling the pre-born children “leeches”, “parasites”, etc and showing no respect and love for the life of them. Oh wait, but I forgot, they’re not babies or children before they are born, right, babies just magically appear on the day of the birth, before that they’re just “fetal matter”…. And if you’re quick enough you can still manage to have that fetal matter ripped apart and pulled out anytime before it is actually born and becomes a baby and solve the problem.
And saying pro-choice DON’T like abortion sounds kind of weird, because you do LOVE a choice of child-free life abortion can offer, don’t you? Unfortunately in this day the word “choice” is a direct synonym for “abortion”. If you say you like “choice” or “right to make a choice”, it’s pure “I am pro-abortion”. Which means you support women going in for late-term aborions out of convenience and having their babies ripped apart in their uteruses. And I am purposely using the word “babies”, because at later-term they can already be born naturally and survive.
I LdOL at Dingo (appropriately named) and Amanda…It’s not funny, I know, but her logic is so twisted it made me LOL.
