70% of American parents and 53.5% of American adolescents believe sex before marriage is wrong, according to a federally funded study released Monday by the Administration of Children and Families, an agency within the Health and Human Services Department.

Oftentimes liberals will say we need to implement policies that are evidence-based. But it’s clear that when the evidence goes against their ideological preconceptions, then they don’t want the evidence to be the basis for the policy anymore.”

If 53.5% of kids want abstinence-only, and the other 46.5% want education in contraceptives, why not offer both?
Why don’t they just cover biology in biology class and then offer a separate course or workshop or seminar about contraceptives? That way, parents can opt their kids out of the separate course, while ALL kids get the needed biological education. What I see in internet comments by young people is shocking. In this day, 2010, no kid should have such crazy ideas about biology such as “a woman miscarries every month, that’s what a period is.” Don’t laugh, I actually read that on a blog’s comments!

I’ve read that too. Do they also think that EVERY menstruating girl is HAVING SEX during ovulation EVERY MONTH???
These kids should be studying basic biology in grade school and high school. That pretty much covers the sex education they need at that point. Tell a child that abortion kills a human being and they will naturally abstain from sex until they know they are mature enough to raise a child.

I really like this billboard too. I think it’s ridiculous and kind of creepy that a lot of teenage kids feel so much pressure to lose their virginity. It’s not something that should be done because “everyone is doing it” or “only ugly losers are virgins.”
