Sunday funnies 10-24-10
My top 5 favorite political cartoons for the week, beginning with one that’s not a favorite but rather an example of a typical liberal hit. Here we see Don Wright at GoComics.com spin pro-life candidates’ opposition to aborting innocent children whose fathers are sexual perpetrators into support of rape and incest…
by Eric Allie at Townhall.com (yes, President Obama really said that)…
by Mike Lester at Townhall.com…
by Glenn Foden at Townhall.com…
by Jerry Holbert at Townhall.com…

The GOP plan is George Bush version 2. I’ll take Obama any and every day of the week.
Fool.
PRINCIPLE before ANY party label, and that includes the GOP.
Check back with us “ex-GOP” when you’re a dirt poor third world comrade and Obama’s still riding around in his limo. Spoiled liberal children with no attention span are in for socialist hypershock when they will be forced into the LONG LINES of DELAYED gratification or deprivation.
I may be dense but I’m not sure I “get” the first one.
I saw a cartoon in a newspaper on the weekend. It had a man saying:
‘A corporation fired me’
‘A corporation took my home’
‘A corporation rejected my medical expenses’
‘A corporation …’
‘A corporation…’
‘I @&*#%*# hate this government’
The government created these economic problems, not any corporation. They are just responding to economic realities.
Regina – I have a state candidate who claims he is pro-life, but supports abortion in the case of rape and incest – I do not, based on the logic that the innocent child should not be killed for the crime of his father, and we don’t hand over execution powers to an individual (the mother) to execute any human being because she was a victim of a crime.
In pro-abort logic, not allowing an abortion for rape or incest makes pro-lifers supportive of those crimes. That’s completely false. In fact, rape and incest are wrong precisely because they are violations where power/physical dominance of one human being over another is the core of the crime. That’s exactly what abortion does.
It’s a completely hypocritical cartoon, where Don Wright has no clue.
Hope this helps.
Joe – now THAT ought to be a Sunday funny – I literally laughed out loud when I read that!

Ex-RINO,
Reminds me of James Bond’s dry retort when the seductress introduced herself to him as ‘Pussy Galore’.
“Why of course your are.”
”I’ll take Obama any and every day of the week.”
Why of course you will.
Just one more proof that you were never a Republican, much less a conservative.
You really ought to get one of those b o logos tattoed right in the center of your forehead. You will never be fully vested and accepted in the ‘cult’ til you do.

What newspaper was that?
The communist workers world daily?
If the corporation had NOT made a ‘profict’ then it would not have had the resouces to provided the job and the health insurance and the man proabaly would not have qualified for the mortgage to purchase the home, for which he could not pay cash. nor make the money to make the monthly payments.
The man probably was not informed enough to know that corporations are not autonomous entities but the creation of people who have money to risk in ventures they deem likely to return a profit.
The man probably blindly staggered into the truth that government can never create jobs and it can only redistribute wealth it has seized from the one who produced it.
Capitalism is an imperfect system, but it superior to all the other models men have developed.
Our contitutional republic is hands down the best system of government in the world today. Americans enjoy a highter standard of living and better quality of life than any other nation on the face of the earth.
Imperfect as it may be people are literally dying to get here.
Ironically it is the immigrants who seem to recognize and take advantage of the abundant opportunities there are to succeed.
When you invest your time looking for the flaws, you will miss the opportunities that pass you by everyday.
Cranius Maximus and Ex-RINO,
You really ought to take a trip to the humanist paradise of of Cuba.
Spend some time talking with the locals and observing who are the ‘haves’ and who are the ‘have nots’.
The disparity between the two is greater than any industrialized country in the free world.
This is the reliably predictable fruit of socialism, which is that for which you both are blindly groping.
Cubans love Cuba, but they despise their government, their economic system and the elitist ‘haves’ who ‘lord it over’ the ‘have nots.
Only a doctrinaire marxist who has not yet exhausted himself trying to make that brick of an economic system fly would still prefer it over the liberty and opportunities that a constitutional republic and capitalism provide.
If the marxists did not choose to look the other way when men and women use the capitalist model to make up for that which socialism fails to provide, then that socialistic system would have collapsed under the weight of it’s own inherent inefficencies decades ago.
Ken, who said anything about longing for a Cuban style government? Perhaps you meant Canada or Sweden.
Close Ken – I was a Republican in name AND vote – which is a big difference. You win elections with votes, not by proving how conservative you are.
Heading back to the original post though (the cartoons and “undoing” Obama).
I think a GOP message should just come out and say:
– We’d like the tax brackets to be the exact same as under George Bush. We’d like health care exactly the same as it was under George Bush. We’d like financial institutions to be regulated exactly the same as it was under George Bush. And though last time it pushed us to the edge of a depression, maybe the second time things will come out differently. Because you know as they say, ‘t keep doing the same things if you want different outcomes…wait a second…who is saying this and do we approve this message?
It was one of the ‘mainstream’ papers yor bro ken. It was reprinted in the paper I was reading on the weekend. I will go through it later and let you know.
It’s funny that its corporations which are donating huge amounts to the GOP without having to reveal it due to the court decision earlier this year.
Comparisons with Cuba are inaccurate and invalid in this particular point. The lack of knowledge here regarding comparative western democracies and their ‘health, wealth and wellbeing’ rates is almost alarming.
“Our contitutional republic is hands down the best system of government in the world today. Americans enjoy a highter standard of living and better quality of life than any other nation on the face of the earth” – HA HA HA HA HA! That’s the funniest thing I’ve read in a while. Where did you get that, the ‘GOP Daily’?
At the rate we are going it won’t be long and we will be like Cuba.
Ex: if current policies were similar to those under “W” our current deficit spending would be at least a trillion less than what it is under your hero. Recall too that under “W” we had four straight years of job growth. Obama is an absolute disaster.
Jerry – under Bush, the economy created 3 million jobs in 8 years (2.3% expansion).
Clinton was 21.1%
Reagan was 17.6%
In fact, going back to Truman, Bush has been the lowest (tied with Ford).
I think a trillion is too high – though the stimulus was $700 billion, the GOP wasn’t fighting against it, they were fighting for a smaller one. Tough to say if, with Bush there, if they would have just done a similar size stimulus with simply different targets – but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and say that the debt is higher now than it would have been under Bush by a few hundred billion.
Now, my argument would be that if the nation hadn’t been on the brink of a depression, than the stimulus wouldn’t have been needed at all – but that is a separate conversation.

Corporations, are not autonomous entities controlled by a super computer. [You seen one too many episodes of Star Trek.]
Corporations, through their employees and directly, contribute to both parties.
It is call freedom, get used to it/get over it.

“Ken, who said anything about longing for a Cuban style government? Perhaps you meant Canada or Sweden.”
=============================================================
Hal,
I did directly and the commenters who seem to have no clue about economics have indirectly.
My wife is Canadian, I have spent a fair amount time there.
I have spent a little time in Cuba. I know some imigrees from Cuba. I spent some time in Guatemala. Spent lots of time in Mexico.
I speak of these places from some experience.
The Canadians per capitar share of their national debt has been higher than Americans share of our national debt and their per capita share of expense for national defense is than Americans.
Canadians tax burden is much higher than Americans.
I do understand that at the present time the Canadian economy is experiencing a mini boom. I would speculate that is due primarily to American dollars fleeing the coming punitive taxes and the hyper inflation which will further devalue the American dollar.
People who have their wealth stored in U. S. dollars are looking for safe havens. Many of those people are not americans. That is why the price of gold is going to unprecedented highs.
Haven’t seen any stories of Spanish speaking people bypassing the United States to get to Canada, like the people from South and Central America bypass Mexico to get to the United States.
I will not speak to Sweden. I have not been there. No little or nothing about the country, but I have not read anywhere about Sweden having difficulty controlling it’s borders or the influx of undocumented aliens. Sweden is in close porximity to what used to be the ‘soviet union’and most east europeans do not look markedly different from Swedes. They should be able to blend in at least as easy as people from south to the U. S. border blend in here. Just some casual observations.
Havent read of hordes of people risking their lives to get to China, N. Vietnam, N. Korea, Cuba or Mexico, Central America or Canada.
I am not being gingoistic, just stating the obvious.
Leftist long for socialism because they believe it is a better economic and political system, but you cannot find a place on the planet where it has ever produced the freedom and opportunities that free market captialism has consistently demonstrated.
In Cuba the socialist government actively chases after American dollars. There are businesses in Cuba that operate exclusively in American dollars, while at the same time there are Cubans who have been imprisoned for decades for the crime of possessing American dollars.
Socialism will never work because of ‘greed’. Enough is never enough. Humans want more.
Capitalism works because of ‘greed’. Given the freedom to do so people will find a way to accumulate sufficient wealth to satisfy their wants.
Some settle for less, some settle for more.
Socialists see the ‘pie’as finite and are obsessed with dividing it ‘equally’.
Capitalist see the ‘pie’ as a commodity and are concerned with finding ways to produce it as economically as possible to sell as much of it as possilble and in the end the capitalist ‘pie’ will continue to grow to satisfy the demands of the market place.
Tell me the name of an automobile that is produced in any of the former satelites of the former soviet union, china, n. vietnam, n. korea, or cuba.
There is a reason you can’t.
Ken, I’m with you. Hooray for the USA and all that. Jolly good. Sure. We’ve got the greatest country on Earth. Lucky us. We’ve got the greatest president in our lifetimes. We’re blessed. Yet you still don’t seem happy. I’m happy.
yor bro ken, the cartoon was from the ‘Lexington Herald-Leader’. I do not know which date it was published by them.
Have a quick look at google. You’ll see the multitude of brands of car built in China, Korea and parts of the former Soviet Union.
There are Korean cars sold around the world under both Korean brands and ‘local’ brands – Kia, Daewoo, Hyundai – ‘Chevrolet’, ‘Vauxhall’ and more.
In China, some brands are backed by Japanese, American and European brands. Others are totally independant. There are numerous.
Vietnam is manufacturing components and produces motorcycles.
You can do your own research on former Soviet states.
What percentage of cars bought in the USA are built in the USA compared to 20 years ago?
What percentage of cars manufactured in the USA are built by foreign owned companies?
