Stanek Father’s Day quote: “Children born to a young man are like sharp arrows in a warrior’s hands.”

Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him. Children born to a young man are like sharp arrows in a warrior’s hands. How happy is the man whose quiver is full of them!

  1. It was a tragic day in 1930 when in the Lambeth Conference, the Anglican Church approved contraception for married couples. Until that day, every single Christian denomination stood firm in the Biblical teaching that children are a blessing to a marriage. All other denominations but the Catholic Church approved contraception, paving the way for the sexual revolution when Eisenstadt v Baird approved contraception for unmarried couples.
We know that without contraception’s approval in the 60’s the Supreme Court would never have said that they had to allow abortion in 1973, since birth control had become part of our lifestyle, and abortion is the back-up plan.
How far we have strayed from God’s intention for marriage.

  2. For people living in poverty, more children are not a “blessing.” Get real. But “Leticia’s” post underscores the mission of the anti-choice movement which is, in addition to criminalizing abortion, is criminalizing birth control. But then when women’s function is to breed, they are less of a threat to the male power structure. It’s all about control.

Luckily, CC, we don’t have to have just one function as women. We can “breed” and we can work, and we can make valuable contributions to society through our selves and also by raising our children to be good citizens and contributors to society.

The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world.

  4. CC aren’t women more exploited by being used as sex objects by men, who often leave them pregnant to either abort and suffer in silence, or raise a child alone? You can thank birth control for separating the marital act from marriage, where a woman is protected in love as she raises the couple’s children. Pornography, and violence gainst women and children have mushroomed. Women are more often single parents than before, is this an increase in power?
