LOL “The phones are levitating!”
Do any sensible people really think that if McCain was President, he’d have waved some type of “magic wand,” and that this current problem would not be here?
Straight up – this is not a Republican/Democrat thing. This deal is that there are swings in the economy, indeed as there are swings in markets in general – human emotion going from one extreme to another.
In the 1930’s wages fell to the point where it paid to put people back to work. Now, there is not the political will to allow that. In no way am I saying “this is due to Republicans.” Heck, it’s probably more on the Democrats – who think, or at least espouse that we can somehow “hold things up” like they used to be – really – as we all got used to things getting “better and better” all through the 1960’s, 1980’s, and 1990’s. (The 1970’s were enough of a “downer” that I’m leaving them out.)
It ain’t happenin.’
That said, Bush Jr. had already embarked on the massive “rescue scheme” designed to sort of maintain the status quo (and preserve the gov’t’s power and position and influence blah blah blah) and that Obama continued it is no surprise. The harsh economic reality is that there is no magic bullet to be used here.
LauraLoo,
I love Don Wade & Roma! I usally only hear their first hour as this night owl is nodding off. By the way, I saw somewhere on Fox News that Jay Carney “begrudged” George W. having a vacation when he was writing for Time.
Doug,
If McCain were president, he would at least have set his sights on the economy, and not derailed us into an obsessive health care payoff to please his base.
The 2012 elections will provide more correction to the make up of congress. More democrats than republicans will be removed from the federal payroll. Some ‘squishy’ incumbent repubs will not survive the primaries and the general election.
Unless mr. bo-jangels pulls off some dancing on the water kind of miracle americans will not return him to the white house. They electorate has established they are fair minded enough to elect an ethnic minority as president. They have salved our collective conscience and healed our past. Now they can re-engage their reason vote for the best candidate.
Hint: The best candidate is NOT Mitt Romney. The biggest clue is the main scream media’s infatuation with him.
Hans, I listen to Don & Roma typically from 5-7:45 AM before I arrive at work. They’re the best newstalk anchors out there.
Ken the Birther, why the name change? I don’t have the background since I don’t have time to read all of the threads. Thanks.
LauraLoo,
The night owl has risen. :) I guess we’re “listeners who pass in the night.” :)
Ex- GOP kept calling “our bro Ken” “ken the birther” because he’s skeptical our esteemed prez was born in the U.S.A. Finally Ken said he liked it the other day and asked the mods to change his moniker. I believe Carla dubbed him so (no sword benighting, though :) ).
LOL (The night owl has risen.)
Thanks Hans for the explanation!
It’s so GOOD to have a fellow D&R fan on the site along with me.
:D
