i was never a fan
she was okay
my friend adored her and even visited her actual hometown. somewhere in NY
i hate to mention it but she’s another lady who will go down in history with an abortion to her name
heather – you have proof that Lucy had had an abortion? And if she did – what of it?
Thanks, Jill for the laughs…all over again!
well my apologies are in order. to Lucy for going on a rumor! I’d heard she’d had a botched. abortion. but i guess she was totally pro life
Lee what of it?i don’t like celebrities who don’t. repent of their abortions! look at all of the women. who proudly signed Ms magazine “we had an abortion ” that’s sick
heather – by saying that anyone has had an abortion, you are gossiping and assassinating someone’s character. The “what of it” is that it is not up to you as to whether anyone does or does not repent from any sin. Nor, how they repent or when or …
i said i was sorry about Lucy and she has my respect! sorry but any actress who boasts about her abortion or abortions is a sick woman
if an actress is. pro choice. o boycott their films and perfumes and merchandise. forget it38:
Lucy’s gifts to this world are far too numerous to list. She is an American Treasure. Don’t look at her body of work look at all the things it inspired in others to gauge her mark on our country. We need more strong women like her in my opinion.
To reduce her memory to a woman who had an abortion is just plain criminal in my opinion.
Thank you Biggz.
What was supposed to have brought Jill’s audience some laughs sure soured fast.
LL :(
Lucy had stated that she always regretted her abortion. It seems abortion was even more common back then among Hollywood actresses than it is now. Virtually all the big names had at least one.
oh thank you Nicole
i guess. i was right and yes abortion. does sour everything
Nicole – source please!
Right off the top of my head, there’s Jane Russell, Marilyn Monroe, and Rita Moreno.
But back to Lucy…
I used to watch the reruns as a kid during the long summers when we had nothing to do, couldn’t go outside, and didn’t suscribe to cable at the time.
While it’s unfortunate she had an abortion ( I didn’t know it until now) they just don’t make shows like “I Love Lucy” anymore.
Babalu!!!
Rent the movie Yours, Mine and Ours….the ORIGINAL, not the remake with Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda. Its a great movie.
Thanks Liz for the recommendation.
I’ve been watching the marathon off and on today, but I’m leaving shortly for the American Idol concert. Back to the Lucy marathon tomorrow!
;)
carder – we do not know for a fact that Lucy had an abortion. And like Biggz says, it really does not matter…however, to continue stating something as fact, when it may not be so is wrong.
“I Love Lucy” was one of the best programs ever on TV. Also, like the very different in many respects “Leave It To Beaver,” it seemed to capture something of the ethos of the time period. Hats off to Lucy!
I have no idea if the woman had an abortion. And even if she did, none of us know if she at some point regretted it or was sorry. Not everyone is as brave as Carla and speaks so publicly about their regret.
I do know, however, that she was the first woman ever to appear on television pregnant. How awesome is that? Until then it was considered immodest to do so.
I’ve read many biographies of women in past eras. Abortion seems to be a recurrent theme. This is tragic. We really have to prevent problem pregnancies.
I would like to point out that I read a bio of a woman who was neither lesbian nor celibate but who never had an abortion. Sex symbol Jayne Mansfield was pregnant 5 times — and carried all 5 pregnancies to term, giving birth to healthy babies. She strongly opposed abortion.
if i am wrong about Lucy aborting then o guess I’m wrong but if she did it shouldn’t matter pro aborts its just a small removal of tissue
Heather, I’ve heard that Lucy told some of her friends that she’d had an abortion at a prior time in her life. She did not make a big deal out of it, and neither did they.
well Doug at least you heard it too
alot of actresses had abortions back in the day
I’m leaving out Judy Garland and it’s my understanding that she was pressured by her agent and mom
anyway sadly she di
sadly she died by suicide
Hi Len,
Thank you.
Sometimes it feels like I am screaming at the top of my lungs underwater but I shall carry on. :)
well i don’t. mean to upset anyone so as the girl in the cake commercial says to the. bear sheriff “carry on”
