Lunch Break – Rush Limbaugh: “My gal Hillary for 2012”
by LauraLoo
Rush Limbaugh seems confident that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will challenge President Barack Obama in the 2012 Democratic Presidential run.
Below are two Rush videos – the first one was uploaded January 2010 and the second video was uploaded a few days ago.

And here’s the Drew Westen NYT article that Rush referred to in video #2.

My thought is that if Hillary primaries, Team O will level withering fire — I’d say unprecedented for primaries in my lifetime. There’s no doubt it would be an insanely tumultuous primary, because the only conceivable reason for a Hillary challenge would be a presumptive failure of the O presidency. You can’t run for that reason without your campaign pounding that theme. And O’s only defense would be an even louder offense (is he actually capable of greater offense? heaven help us…). Not a pretty sight.
O’s in a tough spot. He can’t run on his record against Republicans in the general, and he can’t run on his record against another Dem in a primary either. So O would be forced to either back down and lose, or step up, go into combat mode, and alienate independents by going negative in back-to-back campaigns — one long year of Chicago style nastiness. Do already-frustrated Americans have the stomach for that, coming from the guy who promised big and delivered so, so very small? If Hillary did win a primary, she’d have no record to run from/on and it’d be a pretty interesting election.
I suspect this “unifying” president will end up being far more polarizing than Bush ever was — and of course the barking moonbats from the lunatic fringe of the tinfoil hat brigade’s special forces wing will be hollering “Koch bros.! Tea party racists! Republicans blend puppies!” all the way. Oh that’ll go over well with independents. ;-)
Not a chance. She was out some $30 million (of her own money) after last time, and by all accounts emotionally and physically drained (like any candidate would be after a grueling, extended primary). Nobody would be dumb enough to run that gauntlet a second time, especially for something as hopeless as knocking off an incumbent president in his own party’s primary (something that has never once happened). What might happen is exchanging positions with Biden, as I recall hearing that he originally wanted Sec. of State instead of VP.
I cannot stand Limbaugh. And I agree with joan, surprisingly.
Joan: If a primary happens, it won’t be because Hillary wants it. It’ll be because the party wants it. We’re talking about quiet conversations and promises behind the scenes.
I’m not saying that’s likely, but IF it were to happen, it certainly wouldn’t be stupid of Hillary to run. Yes, it would be stupid to run against O if she wasn’t well-backed and he was.
The only way I could see this happening is if the Democratic Party abandons its man in the White House as they did in 1968. Gene McCarthy began campaigning as an anti-war candidate and was doing well enough that President Johnson announced he would not run for reelection.
Are there any anti-war activists out there?
Of course there are. They are complaining about lack of media coverage (sound familiar?).
If the ant-war movement and the anti-abortion movement ever joined forces, we could transform the nation.
I doubt it, Barb. Just War Doctrine owes a debt to Catholic moral philosophy. Faithful Catholics are substantially represented among pro-life, and to the extent they highly regard their tradition’s intellectual contribution in this area, they’d be hard pressed to support a bumper-sticker movement that posits that no war can be just at all.
The “party” does not want a challenge. The President would wipe the floor with any challenger in the primaries, and secretary clinton is smart enough to know that. Rush is wrong, again. Just wishful thinking.
It’s Rush Limbaugh! I mean really, why did you even bother. There’s more chance of Al Gore running against obama.
Good to see Limbaugh is alive! I thought he died a few years back – no?
I like Rush, but he was just shooting from the hip here. Only a Kucinich type would run against the “Great and Powerful O”. A V.P. switch is more likely. And since I “liked” Joan’s comment, I’m going to have to go lie down now.
i like rush but why is he backing hitlery? I’ve heard that Dennis Kucinich is finally leaving Ohio for DC. good riddance you guys can have the weasel
Hans, LOL. :D
h (heather?),
Actually, that’s Washington State Kucinich is thinking of inflicting himeself on. So your gain is their loss. He’ll fit in quite well with all the Starbucks-drinking aliens there.
I can’t stand Rush either, Jack. Or Ann Coulter, or Hannity, etc., ad nauseum!
Just how seriously does anybody take Rush?
