North Carolina judge: Viewing ultrasound can psychologically harm women
At least 20 states have passed laws that require ultrasounds for women seeking abortions.
[U.S. District Court Judge Catherine] Eagles, who was nominated by President Obama last year… said the North Carolina abortion law “goes well beyond” requirements that patients give informed consent to medical procedures.
The ultrasound provision could compel “an unwilling speaker to deliver visual and spoken messages to a listener who is not listening or looking,” the judge wrote.
Eagles said the provision is “likely to harm the psychological health of the very group the state purports to protect.”

i agree jenn. just hurt my hand. didnt read it anyway……i know 2 women who kept their ultasound pics and had the abortions anyway. one of them is a nurse and her heart is broken. i gave her the book “i ‘ll hold you in heaven.” she has regretted her abortion from the day she had it done. that was back in 2000. last time i spoke with her she told me shed had many dreams about her baby coming and she was a girl. she said ” i know shes in heaven with my dad aunt uncle……..etc.

the psychological damage is done when the abortion is complete.

Psychological damage huh? I would like the pro-aborts to address how this can be when abortion is merely a simple, safe surgery that removes a blob of tissue known as “products of conception” and does NOT kill a human being, let alone a child.
How can an ultrasound of a blob evoke strong emotion? I have seen ultrasounds of my breasts (had a lump) and my ovaries. Totally uninteresting and produced no emotion in me whatsoever. However, the ultrasounds of both of my children? I cried when I saw their heartbeats and laughed when I saw them kick and twirl. STRONG emotion.

Would an ultrasound also physcologically harm a woman at the OB/GYN’s office or just the ones done at the mill before an abortion??

Why be afraid of a picture if it’s not really a baby?

I am interrupting this thread to ask for prayer.
I am sharing my abortion story of healing tonight at our Banquet for Life along with my old roommate who drove me to my abortion.(She is now the Director of a Pregnancy Center)Please pray we get a great turnout, people are moved to give and both of us say what God wants us to say.
Thank you!
Back to ultrasounds of nothing.

(Carla: praying!)
Hmm, I was in the room when the doctors pulled up (on the screen on the wall at the end of her bed) my sister’s CT scan results. They went slice by slice, showing her the tumors in her liver, gall bladder duct, omentum, suspicious spots on her lungs and ovaries. Understand this was not a, “This is how we’re going to proceed” type of explanation, rather a “This is why we’re not going to try anything, this is what’s killing you” display.
Should they have just come in, tell her to get her things together, go home and enjoy her kids for as long as she could, her local MD could prescribe pain meds as needed? Who here wouldn’t find THAT sort of explanation deliberately evasive and condescending? What about her psychological health? It apparently took a backseat to informed consent.
No, the opposition to pre-abortion ultrasound is rooted in $$$, specifically the loss of it in the hands of the abortionists and their accomplices. It speaks VOLUMES about what they don’t want women to know.
In summary:
My sister’s CT scan: This is what’s killing you.
Pre-abortion ultrasound: This is who you want us to kill.

Hmm. Why would the abortion workers be “unwilling”?
I wasn’t traumatized or psychologically harmed by seeing my children’s ultrasounds.
But then, I wasn’t electing to have them killed, either.
Do these people really not GET that the problem isn’t the information (ultrasound picture) but what they DO WITH IT (kill the child)?

anyway to some women in crisis this may not matter. one day i was on the sidewalk with my other pro lifers. this hulking huge african american man and his tiny girlfriend came up the walk. she was crying so we asked if we could just speak to her. she unloaded ” i dont want this abortion. i dont”!!!!!! the guy picked her up and was literally dragging her into the clinic. he yelled “i am not payin no 18 years of child support”! we had the graphic signs and our pastor always says “dont let these be your baby pictures.” the girl kept screaming and at one point she ran and got back in her car. he went after her. we offered to call the cops. at this time murdering martin ruddock opened the back door. the girl kept repeating ” i dont want an abortion.” man kept repeating that she would cuz he wasnt paying. my heart broke that day. i wonder how she is.

Heather, dear, He will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him (Is 26:3), Let not your heart be troubled (Jn 14:1) Cast all your cares on Him, because He cares for you! (1 Pet 5:7)…remember God already knows what you have need of before you ever had the problem arise (Mt 6:8). Rest in Him, praise Him and remind yourself what the Word tells you. James 4:7 says the enemy needs your permission to ruin your peace: resist the devil and he will flee from you. You are 100% right in that you’re not alone: He will never leave or forsake you (Heb 13:5). Good news, indeed! Praying your hand, husband and heart will be well.
@ Kel & Carla: it appears the only difference between seeing the ultrasound in the OB/GYN’s office is the attitude of the woman (or her family) towards the “contents” of her uterus. Can anyone else think of historical examples where the attitudes of others towards a class of human being determined whether said human being lived or died?

Heather,
You cannot be forced to have an abortion against your will!!
The Center Against Forced Abortion

All of the forms on this site should be printed off and available for those that are forcing someone, the pregnant woman and the abortionist!!
And yes you call the cops!!!

Now if the law just had real ultrasound techs that had no stake in the financial outcome of the ultrasound – that would be better… that would eliminate the ‘unwilling.’ and in fact – all the counseling should be done by people with out financial gain in an abortion. That would solve a host of problems.
I am grieving for that young lady who was forced to have an abortion. Doesn’t sound like there is any choice there. too bad no one was running a camera. My heart grieves for her (and for his heart and soul, too).

i know carla. i believe they may have lived together and she caved from the pressure. im 5 11 and this guy had to be about 6 4 he dwarfed me and his girl wasb only 5 5 my pastor told her he cannot force you to abort but the abortionist must have seen what was going on and escorted them through the back door. we offered to call the cops but im sure she lived with him and he was a bully. he told her “weve discussed this and you are having it.” i just think she caved. klynn thank you for the words of comfort:)

Don’t make me laugh!!!!!
So it is actually seeing an ultrasound image that will harm womens’ psychological health, but not the invasive, painful, gruesome surgical procedure of shredding your own child to pieces?
Riiiiight…

The unwilling speaker is not so unwilling. It is the baby’s heartbeat, and it’s saying MOM I WANT TO LIVE.

are ultrasounds THAT invasive? I could see a RAPE victim having problems, which is understandable…. but that baby is not going to jump off the screen and try to kill her.
Usually pro aborts hate ultrasounds because when a woman sees the BABY on the screen…she changes her mind. I can’t recall the exact %, but isn’t it like 80% of women who see the ultrasound at a CPC, choose LIFE for their baby?

The young woman never had a choice, Heather. I don’t blame her by saying, “She caved.” Or she went though with it. She had no choice. What could she possibly do in the face of force and possibly violence???? All of the blame I lay on the shoulders of the violent boyfriend and abort them anyway abortionist.
Next time please don’t offer to call the cops. Just call them. It is against the law to force someone to abort.

“unwilling speaker”
Oh, please.
What about companies that don’t want to list ingredients on their packages?
The are unwilling speakers compelled to tell the truth.
In medicine, it is called informed consent. And no, a doctor can’t force a patient to listen or understand him, he still has to explain stuff before getting consent.
Why should there be a lower standard for women seeking abortions?

“Why should there be a lower standard for women seeking abortions?”
THAT, my friend, is the QUESTION. Every abortion advocate should ask this and pause, and answer honestly.

Any medical testing only needs to be carried out if there is a reasonable need. Any more is an unwarranted risk and expense.
What about the ultrasound/autism link?

@ carla believe me i know you are right!!!!!! that girl did not want to go in there. we got our cell phones out and the pastor said “im calling the cops” we kept telling him “you cannot force her to have the abortion” but i was new on the sidewalk and the response time of the police there is rather slow. i dont know that it would have mattered after the wonderful abortionist saw his blood money. im not sure if the cops can enter the clinic. i have never seen anything like that before. it was awful. the pastor told him “you are a coward who wants out of paying child support. the blood is on your hands.” the guy threw back a few choice words at him (us) cursing and saying ” mind your business cuz i dont give a blank!!!!!!!

i also believe that since they came together they must reside together. she pleaded through her tears “i have 2 kids and they are right. i dont want to kill my baby. but the incredible hulk just kept picking her up. he was going to have his way. she probably had to go home with him and perhaps she feared abuse. i wonder if pro aborts would support that!…….meh im guessing they dont care. black genicide yanno.

but go protest in the burbs and the cops swarm you. heck you would have thought obama was in town. 2 different police departments swarmmed the “terrorists”. you can really see the difference between a white neighborhood and a black neighborhood. m. sanger would be so proud of that man who forced his lady into that abortion.

Reality, why would a woman be worried about autism if she plans on killing the baby first? That’s a nonsensical argument.
@Heather–such a sad story. I hope that poor girl gets away from him and gets the help she needs.

I feel so badly for that girl. I’ve been in her place. I pray that one day she’ll wise up and leave that jerk. Any man who wants or would even allow the death of his child is no man at all.

Well Kate, since the reason for the demand that ultrasounds be performed before every abortion is to attempt to cause the woman to rethink her decision, perhaps some will not go ahead with the abortion. Now they have a fetus which has been exposed.
And if it’s to be a prerequisite for pre-abortion consultations then it must happen for every consultation where the woman fully intends to proceed with the pregnancy too. Again, the fetus is exposed.

So, pro-aborts are worried about the slight potential that a pre-abortion ultrasound may result in a mother changing her mind and the child subsequently getting autism–a link which hasn’t been conclusively proven yet. But, if after the ultrasound the child is ripped to shreds by a vacuum…no big deal?
That is quite the disconnect.
You’re all about protecting fetuses yet here you are potentially exposing them to unnecessary risks in the hope that the woman will reconsider having an abortion.
That is quite a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Fewer and fewer people will be able to say, along with Sgt. Schultz : ” I SEE NOTHING!”

I would think a single ultrasound – with whatever risk that might involve – would be worth the risk if it saves the fetus from certain death by abortion.

hmmm…Unproven possible link to a condition that isn’t fatal….vs….the child dying in a procedure designed entirely to kill that child that is almost 100% fatal in every single instance it is used…
And yet we’re “cutting off our nose to spite our face”? What’s your metaphor, Reality? Lighting the world on fire just to watch it burn?

Did this jusdge just ruleagainst forced ultrasound because the baby is an “unwilling speaker”? lol This is what we are up against when pro-aborts are appointed to the bench. Logic and reason are just not a required part of their judgement.
