Lunch Break: Blood donation
by LauraLoo
For those of you who are medically able to participate in blood donation, here is your reminder if you haven’t done so for a while…or if you never have given at all.
It is such a great feeling to donate, knowing you are saving lives. I am many months overdue in donating blood (due to being borderline diabetic) but plan on doing so this week. Also, a shout out to the LORD in that I am no longer pre-diabetic (soooo hard to give up for the most part sugary sodas, ice creams and chocolates).
Will you consider saving lives with a blood donation? There is always a shortage, becomes a great habit once you start, and one of the best Christmas gifts you can still give this year.

I give blood…my work makes it easy – paid time while giving blood. Thanks for posting this message – great thing that almost everyone can do.
Me too, Ex-GOP. We have an annual blood drive at work but I also have a Lifesource in my suburb with a great staff. LL
I give blood whenever I am medically eligible to.
Congratulations on your improving health, LL!
Thank you Alexandra!! LL <3
I will never know the names of those who saved my life through blook donations when I was born. I suffered from hemolytic anemia due to Rh factor in utero, was taken by c-section some seven weeks early, and had several transfusions and two complete exchanges. I donate about four times a year — kudos to all who donate as well.
Great story Eric! Thanks for sharing! And thanks LauraLoo for the suggestion, I’ll look into local blood drives.
Another suggestion is to register to be a bone marrow donor. I registered 12 or so years ago but have never been called on to donate, I would love to! I guess my Irish marrow is a dime a dozen! :) They’re always looking for those with non-European ethnicities.

They had me at “cookies”. Well, before that. But they REALLY had me at “cookies”.
Good suggestion! I usually donate blood at the local blood bank two or three times a year. I’m eligible to donate again, but will have to wait a couple of weeks, due to having recently received my third Hepatitis B vaccination (for occupational reasons).
Eric, what a great testimony you are. My mom and dad had Rh factor incompatability.
Hans, the “Oreo 6-packs” are a big motivator for me. :D
