Mom gives birth after suffering 10 miscarriages: “She’s our miracle.”
She’s our miracle and Christmas will be more about family and God than what you are getting. It’s all about our family now.
~ Mom Kristi Rhodes comments on 4-month-old daughter Savannah’s surprise conception, DNJ.com, December 24
After suffering 10 miscarriages due to a hormonal issue, Kristi discovered she was pregnant during unrelated preoperative tests and was successfully treated by a high-risk OB so Savannah could be carried to term. She and husband Paul also have an adopted son, Caleb, age 5.
How wonderful for them to finally have a healthy baby!
I do wonder, though…why would no OB/GYN have tried to figure out the cause of her miscarriages before she had 10 of them? Surely one of them would have thought there was something wrong long before that?

I was thinking the same thing, Kate. Of course, I had FIVE before my doctor tested for anything. I still don’t know if my problem is a “hormonal issue”, because my doctor doesn’t test for that, and our insurance doesn’t cover a doctor who DOES. :(

Reality, this family of four being together on Christmas IS a blessing, regardless of when Savannah was actually born, after all the Rhodes family has gone through.

It was fabulous that they had this child Kate. And I’m sure that they are filled with joy at their first christmas with their new addition to the family. But it doesn’t warrant the term ‘christmas blessing’ when the child was born so far from christmas.

In reality, a baby’s first Christmas being embraced by her parents and siblings is a big deal in families.
But, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that someone who supports killing girl and boy fetuses is also a killjoy.
This family made me smile- congrats to them!!!

After almost 15 years of marriage, if God blesses me with a child, I’ll consider it a Christmas blessing every year of my life no matter when it’s born. :)

The miracle of birth can be celebrated any time of year! Testing does not reveal the answer to everything. I had extensive testing done and no one ever found out why I suffered four late term miscarriages before I finally had my daughter, followed by three healthy sons. My aunt had seven miscarriages and tried everything, including sewing her cervix shut in order to carry a child to term, but one day, after applying to adopt, she found out she was pregnant and easily carried to term, then had two more babies with no intervention needed. The workings of the human body can be a mystery even in today’s age of modern medicine.

I was married for 13 years before I ever became pregnant. I did realize afterwards that it had to be a hormonal issue, as I had lost a lot of weight, and began to be very regular. With out any thought, I found my self to be pregnant for the fist time, ever! I turned 37 right after I had my only son, and he is now a wonderful Christian husband, father, and son! God answered every prayer I ever prayed for him. I will forever be grateful for what God did for me..

My mom had my brother after 5 years of marriage. Five years and a few miscarriages later they had also been accepted for adoption when she became pregnant with me! Then another brother & a sister followed very quickly after me.
The mysteries of the female reproductive system! God loves to confound the medical community! :)
