Stanek Sunday quote: “Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?”
Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?
~ Psalm 94:16, New International Version

I read this quote and I see these tanks and I think of what is happening in Syria right now. There are many evil things and sometimes it’s very difficult to stand up to them. In the case of Syria, ease has been replaced by feelings of horror and sorrow and thoughts of, “But what can I do? How do I help?” It’s very difficult to live in a world where there’s evil, especially evil in combination with helplessness.
But perhaps we can use all of this sadness to our advantage: cultivate strong roots to fight injustice and tyranny together, develop a sense of unity, and challenge ourselves to be as courageous as we can. In the end, we must always maintain a sense of oneness if we wish to come out of humanity’s trials as a better human race. I suppose what I’m trying to say is…even in dark times, I hope that each individual makes a choice to stand with the oppressed and do the right thing.

The picture reminds me how lithuanians fought for their freedom. They literally stood against tanks and soldiers with nothing but flags in their hands. Many were shot, many were crushed by the tanks. Lithuania is now independant and it was achieved without a single shot from lithuanian side, but with people peacefully sacrificing their lives.

A little bruised up (especially after this weekend), but there are few spots left that are fresh, so I am grudgingly in. Scratch that – for him, I am joyfully in.
PS – Nice, and I should add, timely Quote pick.

I know this is off topic (but perhaps not entirely) but I finally realized the one word that best describes Rick Santorum: vision. He has vision. He sees where he wants to take the American people and country. It is there even in his sometimes awkward phrases and sentences (previously known as straight talk). In any event, he can and has always explained his straight talk very well later when asked by the MSM. It is this vision that allows him to skip the Obama style rhetoric and focus instead on the content of his message.
I think Rick is a fighter, or more accurately, a person that perseveres – which is not too bad of a quality to have in a leader.

We, as Christians, should be willing to stand against unrighteousness but how we do it is the question. Some believe that we are to pray alone while others think we should go to another extreme. Personally, I think we should pray and let our light so shine …

Jill,
Yes, we are to stand…but if we have no intimate contact with the Leader (Jesus the Messiah), we troops have no marching orders!
