Pro-choice pol: Pro-life women really “men with breasts”
I do not understand how a woman in this Legislature can say to herself: “I’m not capable of making my own health decisions… but I can get elected and make them for somebody else.”…
What is wrong with these women? What are they thinking about? Are they women? Or are they men with breasts?

Just when you think they can’t get any wilder. Stick to the script, dude.
I am SO SICK of having my femininity insulted by people who are so freaking CLUELESS about what it is so many women actually espouse.

Its always ironic that the most masculine looking feminists are always accusing pro-life women (who generally are not ashamed of their feminity) of not being “real women”.
So why is it that these same advocates claim that women cannot be expected to control their sexual urges or trusted to take precautions, or even capable of rounding up $4-$24 to pay for their own birth control. Yet they should be trusted to decide the fate of another human being?
And here I always thought one of the feminist critiques of men was that they selfishly wanted the pleasure of sex with no responsibility, that after a sexual encounter they could just walk away. Hmmm… maybe Rep Josephs has attributed her “men with breasts” comment to the wrong group.
I wonder what year Mz. Josephs had her abortion(s)?
Abortion is not healthcare.
I just wrote a blog post about why it is not feminism to support abortion. It was inspired by this thread on fandom secrets where a bunch of abortion apologists were deciding to take inspiration from Alice Paul–who was, quite relevantly, pro-life. And my point was, essentially, to argue that women are unequal without the “right” to abortion is to believe that pregnancy is something that makes women less-than. But pregnancy is something that is both uniquely female and literally as natural as breathing. To believe that abortion is necessary for women’s equality is to believe that women, without artificial intervention, really are less-than. That a woman, by herself, is a lesser human being.
And that is the essence of misogyny.
I’m looking at Ms. Joseph’s picture and so wanting to state the obvious when it comes to her “Men with breasts” comment.
Alice, have you received any responses to your blog post? I am curious to know what they will say. However, I think many will just be evasive.
No. I am not a man with breasts.
But I truly needed INFORMED CONSENT(ultrasound!!!)before I paid someone to kill my daughter.
Buh bye Babette.
Let your ignorant statement be your legacy.
@Tyler: No. I don’t get a lot of traffic to my blog. I’m no Jill. :P
Ms. Jospeh’s comment are hurtful and disrespectful to women who disagree with her on the issue of informed consent. How can she say such a rude comment about her peers and get away with it in the MSM. Unlike Rush she actually is a politician! I am not saying that she is the female version of Rush Limbaugh, but her comments are certainly comparable to his.

Alice, I have often felt that the third wave of feminism is a race against/with men to the moral bottom – basically, the argument seems to me to be: if men can be pigs, so can we. Instead of trying to elevate men to be responsible fathers and parents, feminist women have decided to encourage women to join men in acting irresponsible and to forgo parenthood.
Babette Josephs represents a wealthy district in Center City Philadelphia. Some consider her a bit loopy, so I’m not surprised by her comments.
I think that that Babette (and really, can you take any comment seriously with a name like that?) has it wrong. To be true to the ‘man with breast’ allusion, a woman would need to be considered incapable of bearing children. So the best allusion would be those who have had abortions, are currently taking hormonal birth control, or have an IUD inserted. All would render women unable to bear a child. ‘Bearing’ being the key word -killing your child before birth is not bearing a child.
Those Lib Women are the ‘men with breasts’. They’ve learned their feminist indoctrination well: to be a real womyn is to be a man.
Technically, men do have breasts, you know. Men can even get breast cancer. Just saying.
I’m going to disagree re: third-wave feminists a bit. Because I don’t think they are feminists at all. True feminism does not attempt to make women be just as much like men as possible, but rather recognizes that women do not need any alteration to be equal because equality is already the reality that our society does not reflect. So, rather than seeking to change women, via abortion, or drugs, or anything else, feminism seeks to change society. That’s what every genuine equality movement has done throughout history. So anyone claiming to be feminist who is seeking to change women rather than society is not simply a part of the problem, they are the root of it. “Third-wave feminism” is misogyny using the language of feminism to try and hide itself.
Alice, your posts are SPOT ON.

This is so true, Carla! And why it pains me to see attacks on Babette Joseph’s appearance and name here. It has nothing to do with her ridiculous statement. Her words are enough to make her look bad.
I have an unusual name and I’m not gorgeous, either. Insulting someones looks rather than presenting a valid argument makes you look petty and unintelligent!
I wish I could like Alice’s posts about three billion times. I couldn’t agree more, and it’s the same argument I use. My boyfriend calls me a “femitarian” just because I can no longer stand the connotation that “feminist” entails.
Femitarian is awesome! I’ll have to use that one.
Oh, brava, Babette. Way to call your fellow females’ gender into question simply because they disagree intellectually with you. You’re so mature!!! (sarcasm).
Seriously, how do these total nincompoops keep getting elected?
This is the first time (and hopefully the last) that I have ever been tempted to send a picture of my genitalia to an elected official.
In forty years, I just know that I’ll be having the following phone conversation with someone:
“Yes, they actually tried to argue like that … yes, it was that soon after the Holocaust … yes, I know, it’s completely self-contradictory … we sure did!”
For many pro-aborts (most or all, maybe?), I must sadly acknowledge that their blindness extends even to their hindsight.
Lord have mercy on us all.
“Femitarian” – I like it. This word/idea needs to be in the marketplace. Has he explained what the word means?
BTW Lyssie, is it a combination of the words “female” and “egalitarian” or is it a combination of the words “female” and “libertarian”?
Well, the photograph is particularly unflattering, but I agree: her words are especially ugly.
I was wondering if it combined “militant/military” in there somewhere.
So many great allusions in one word. I may have to consider incorporating this into my lexicon. ;)

*slow clap* Awesome. You put into words the reason I find tying abortion to feminism extremely damaging to the fight for equality for females. Women don’t need to deny their biology to be “as good as” men, they already are. Just the way they are. Instead of focusing on things like help with childcare to get through college and fair maternity leave, the feminist movement acts like male bodies are the default and everyone should aspire to that. Your posts are awesome.
Amazing. They are so committed to the lie that the prolife movement is entirely men trying to control women that they need to pretend prolife women are men. Sounds like a perfect example of the no true Scotsman fallacy.
No, no, Babette!
What is wrong with this woman? What is she thinking? Is she a woman? Or is she a woman without a heart?
Alice, I agree with Jack. You are brilliant!
I just think she’s a femi-nazi.
i know that’s mean, but the same chemical manufacturing company that produced the gas for the Nazi gas chambers is being used in abortions and abortifacents. And these women are their major proponents. And I don’t associate nazism with abstinence or being tolerant of bad sexual behavior in men. I associate it with the agenda of the 3rd Reich-and the American Eugenecist movement which became the birth control movement once the hard-line racist elites discovered they could puppeteer with Uncle Tom’s like Babbette Joseph’s and Barrack Obama’s–the house slaves of Cecil Richard’s. Even she has George Soros’ hands manipulating her judgements–guys like him, and a few others that think the world is their toy.
Anyways, abortifacents were invented by the Nazi Party, and that’s a technical fact. A French company-that’s where the RU47 drug originated. It’s an old invention, by 70 years or so.
Watch Blood Money and MAAFA21, But MAAFA21 esp.
Jack,
“the feminist movement acts like male bodies are the default and everyone should aspire to that.”
The fashion industry also acts like that, except the male bodies they want us to aspire to are pre-pubescent. Lol! I remember one episode of America’s Next top Model where the girls had a go-see with several photographers. One in particular grimaced at the willowy female model and snarled, “She has hips… I hate hips.”
Did you all hear about the conficential medical information dumped this past week into a community recycling bin by former physician Krishna Rajanna, abortionist for the now defunct Affordable Medical and Surgical Services in Kansas City, Kan.
Abortion files tossed into recycling bin – KansasCity.com
What’s the big deal? Men have breasts too.
Doug, she’s calling women “men with breasts.” As a woman, I’m offended by being told I’m not actually a woman, but rather a man with breasts. I’m not a man, I’m a woman.

Yeah, I have no idea how that became the standard for female beauty. Makes me want to ban my daughter from all pop culture until she is in her thirties.
@Doug: What JoAnna said. This woman is claiming that anyone who is really a woman must, obviously, agree with her. And anyone who doesn’t, she questions their womanhood. I’m glad that people have managed to keep off of her looks in the thread, because basically, all the reasons why we don’t need to be going after her appearance are the ones that make what she said ten different flavors of Not Okay.
Another odd thing about her statement…she is implying that men do not (or cannot) agree with her on this issue, as the women who disagree must really be men. Given that roughly 50% of the population (AKA potential supporters) are male, this was an especially dumb statement in terms of tactic.

That’s something that I find extremely odd. Not only does she seem unaware that a ton (maybe even the majority, it seems like it to me) of pro-lifers are female, she is so intent on painting it as a male oppression issue that she disregards that painting anyone who disagrees with her as male (AKA bad and evil) is probably alienating males who would probably support her. Bad move on her part.
No, there’s nothing wrong with being a man, but this is one more example of the left’s display of the “no true Scotsman” fallacy. According to them, Feminists for Life aren’t feminists at all, conservative African-Americans aren’t “authentically black,” Marco Rubio is a “coconut,” gays who vote Republican must not “really” be gay, and now women who support the ultrasound legislation aren’t really women. And these people want to be taken seriously.
All I’m sayin’ is, if I was going to strap some cumbersome appendages on myself, I’d opt to cart around a bit less than DD’s, lady. C’mon!
What…um, she said! :)
Hey everyone: my boyfriend is a staunch libertarian and our viewpoints are quite similar, and he knows I love being a woman… So he combined libertarian and feminist to get what I think actually espouses my views the best. :) Femitarians unite! :P seriously, we should start a Femitarian blog sometime. :)

Lyssie-
I want to be a Femitarian!
Lyssie! Yes! Let’s start a libertarian feiminist pro-life blog. My husband and I are libertarian and Christian and pro-life, so we often don’t really fit in with any political group (it’s okay, we make our own. Break the trends!) Love it that there are others like us out there. :)
Femitarian: the belief that women are EQUAL citizens under the Constitution, getting no more and no fewer rights than any other citizen. Amen and amen!
@bmmg39 I was thinking the same thing! I’m sure Babette thinks that men who support this bill are not authentically men and are crazy, right-wing patriarchs
Lyssie, I’m sorry if this is a slight deviation from the topic, but this is a question you should probably be prepared to address.
You know how vegetarians eat only vegetables, right?
So … what do femitarians eat?
*waits until roaring laughter dies down*
Anyway, to business.
LibertyBelle, I would argue that calling something feminist and pro-life is largely redundant, as fully appreciating the nature, beauty, and value of femininity requires an equal appreciation of the nature, beauty, and value of life itself. I have yet to find any argument that successfully marginalizes one without having the same effect on the other; if you’ve found one that appears to have done so (or at least is believed by many people to have done so), please direct me to it that I may either shoot it full of holes or adapt my position accordingly.
(this is, of course, using the true definition of feminism, not the hijacked version masquerading as genuine womanly grace)
Doe, if that’s true about Babette, I’m seeing an unsettling downwards trend in the view of women who support this; apparently, at this point, they’re not actually women, but are in fact crazy, right-wing patriarchs. With breasts.
Why do I expect to see a very grotesque artist’s rendering of Babette’s supposed opinion of pro-life women in Jill’s next cartoon post? Oh, the horror…
