is this from the Onion?
This is so silly. I’ve even heard of some African American mothers squeezing their babies noses so they will be thinner and straightening their hair. Leave the poor babies alone!
Clearly someone has way too much time on her hands.
Unfortunately, this isn’t really a new trend–I live in the south and pageant moms have been doing it for over twenty years now, along with flippers and all the other junk. In fact, does anybody remember the episode of Designing Women where Suzanne buys Charlene a wig for her baby so she can enter her into a pageant? While that episode was pretty funny–I was a fan of that show– it is sad that some people aren’t content to let their kids be natural kids.
I’ve seen this before. Gotta start ’em young…making them feel inadequate as they are. This is also why I HATE that nauseating “Toddlers & Tiaras”! People putting make-up, wigs, false eyelashes…even false TEETH on little girls and baby girls. Going so far as to give them fake tans and bleached/permed hair because, as one “pageant mom” put it ” blonde hair photographs better”.
Bad enough that our pre-adolescent/adolescent girls feel the need to live up to some air-brushed/anorexic “standard of beauty”, but these pageants tell BABY girls they’re not “good enough” the way they are, either.
Plus, the skimpy costumes and heavy make-up “sexualize” these innocent little ones. These so-called “beauty pageants” are a pedophile’s paradise!
Yes, Jennifer, I saw that episode of DW, too. One of my all-time FAVORITE shows! ;)
Sorry for the “rant”….but the baby wigs just “got my dander up”! :D
“the skimpy costumes and heavy make-up “sexualize” these innocent little ones.”
It’s just awful. Is there anything our society won’t sexualize?
Our first grand daughter will be birthed at the end of July or early August. She has already been welcomed into the family.
When ever my pregnant daughter enters the room all her siblings give a shout out to their niece.
My wife and I don’t orchestrate this. It is completely spontaneous.
Some unfortunate fellow ran into the back of my daughters car the other day and when he saw she was pregnant he was moritified.
Mom and baby are fine. Just one lifes little speed bumps.
I contrast this with story of the Chinese mother who was forcefully aborted at 7 months and then punished with body of her murdered child.
It makes me want to go Rambo on them.
The Chinese humanists just aren’t as sopnisticated in their sophistries as the ‘dead babies are r us’ mob in this country, but they are no more/no less barbaric.
Congratulations Ken!!
Certainly much better than having a son circumcised because of religious tradition. Thank goodness my parents never abused me like that.
Yes, congratulations Ken! LL ;)
Anyone remember Jon Benet Ramsey ?
That poor child never got the chance to BE a child.
I was my mother’s first baby. She told me that right after giving birth she asked, “Does it have hair?”
I asked her why her first question wasn’t whether I was a boy or a girl and she said, “I figured they’d tell me that.”
I DID have hair when born.
