- Secular Pro-Life dissects arguments of a pro-abortion, former Planned Parenthood employee in a recent article which asks, “Are atheist pro-life groups promoting sound science?” SPL says he “addresses four topics on which he believes that secular right to life groups have been unscientific: abortion and breast cancer; post-abortion psychological problems; ultrasounds before abortion; and fetal pain.”
- Stand True relays information on the real war on women at the hands of the abortion industry. As usual, the mainstream media would rather focus on Republicans’ verbal mishaps than on women injured and killed as a result of abortion:
This is the fourth medical emergency recently documented at [Martin] Haskell abortion clinics. In February, a woman was transported from Haskell’s Kettering clinic to a local hospital. In March, Haskell personally placed a 911 call from his clinic located in the Cincinnati suburb of Sharonville and was heard laughing at the dispatcher who offered emergency information. A fourth woman was once again hospitalized in March, 2009, after abortion injuries received at Haskell’s Kettering clinic, the site of the most recent incident.Earlier this year, Operation Rescue filed a formal complaint against Haskell with the Ohio Medical Board, which currently has Haskell under investigation.
Haskell holds no active hospital privileges as required by law and has been allowed to keep his clinics open on two variances, or legal waivers, issued by the Ohio Department of Health.
No hospital privileges, multiple injuries to women, and pro-lifers are the ones who don’t care about women?
- Fr. Frank Pavone mourns the death of pro-lifer Joan Appleton (pictured right), a “former abortion facility nurse who went on to found and lead the Society of Centurions of America, a group that provides counseling and financial aid to those who leave work in the abortion industry.” She finished well. May she rest in peace.
- Wesley J. Smith tells readers of another “death by dehydration” case in which a DNR order and removal of nutrients were the chosen methods of “care” given to a 12-year-old gunshot victim just ten days after his injury:
On August 6, a 12-year-old boy was shot in the head. Even though a reliable diagnosis and prognosis for persistent unconsciousness requires at least 3 months, hospital personnel reportedly went in rapid succession from “donate his organs” to “end his life” mode. - ProLife NZ notes the downturn in our culture, beginning with the sexual revolution of the 60’s and continuing along the path toward justifying infanticide ŕ la Peter Singer:
Philosophy and culture are inextricably connected, but it is usually only when a man like Peter Singer writes his ideas out loud in a daily newspaper [in an article entitled, “Just being human doesn’t give you a right to live”] that the general public starts to become aware of the origins of our current cultural sickness. But these new ideas have slowly grown their poisoned tendrils into every corner of human endeavor and strangled the basic notions upon which our civilization was built. - Pro-Life Action League found out about a planned stop of the “Women are Watching” Planned Parenthood “pepto bus,” and with only a few days notice and the help of social media, they mobilized the grassroots to come to the event, outnumbering abortion supporters 2 to 1.
- Stand for Life features a clip from Scott Klusendorf discussing the best and worst scriptures to use in defending life. Some surprising no-no’s: Psalm 139, Jeremiah 1:5, and Job 3:3. Instead, Klusendorf says Genesis 1, James 3, Exodus 23:9, and Proverbs 6:16-19 are the ones to use:

Both abortion and placing a baby for adoption can leave a girl or woman deeply psychologically scarred. Having and raising a baby when she is utterly unprepared to be an adequate mother can do incalculable harm.
There are just too many pregnancies to females who aren’t able to deal with the consequences. Preventing such pregnancies must be out #1 priority.

Re KP v SPL: Amazing. If it were an overtly religious prolife organization, they’d be playing the anti-Catholic/Christian religion vs science card. You’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t…since all KP wants to do is damn anything prolife.
Re: the war on women; YOU GO, Bryan & ST. The women injured and killed by “safe, legal abortion” is truly the elephant in the room…gives new meaning to the Republican’s symbol… :)
RIP Joan Appleton. I remember hearing her testimony some years ago on a compilation of similar defector testimonies presented by the PLAL, and it was riveting, and VERY educational. This is heaven’s gain and our loss.
Re: the death by dehydration…this is sick, sick, sick; and outrageous beyond sad. It gives organ donation a bad rap; and the potential for cannibalism is the sole reason I am not registered as an organ donor. If a culture of life ruled medicine, it would be a whole different story.
Re: Peter Singer; let this man remove himself from the planet or shut the #$*&^ up.
PLAL; GOOD JOB!!!
And now I’ll go reread the texts recommended by Klusendorf. Nothing against the others, but this will be an interesting light on things.

Women can do it. Many people have replaced their can-do attitude with a don’t-have-to-do (-why-should-I-that-would-be-hard) attitude, that’s all.

So if women are killed by legal abortion, just think how many will be maimed by illegal abortion. What a wonderful thing. Abortion has been around for a long time and the reality is that legal abortion is far more safe than illegal abortion. I grew up pre-Roe with a mother who was very aware of the options. As a woman of some financial means, she was able to get a “D & C.” But as she told me, poor women didn’t have the same options.

And while the lifers supposedly turned out in droves in Illinois, whenever there is a similar event in my state, those who stand for women outnumber the fetus fetishists by a large margin. RI – pro-life and proud of it.

(Denise) I disagree. The whole reason that some women commit suicide when pregnant and others get abortions is that women get pregnant who aren’t prepared to have babies. For example, Eleanor Cooney has said she was absolutely determined to eject the fetus as soon as she realized she was pregnant — the beginning of the 4th month of pregnancy. She has said that it was the PREGNANCY ITSELF that she simply rejected. It was not that pregnancy and childbirth were “hard.” Rather, she found them utterly unacceptable.
Like you, I abhor abortion. It seems obvious that an abortion won’t happen if the woman is not pregnant in the first place and won’t be sought by those who are happy to be pregnant. Obviously, we’ve got to work on prevention.

So if slaves are killed by legal slavery, just think how many will be maimed by illegal slavery. What a wonderful thing. Slavery has been around for a long time and the reality is that legal slavery is far more safe than illegal slavery. I grew up pre-13th Amendment with a mother who was very aware of the options. As a woman of some financial means, she was able to get a slave. But as she told me, poor women didn’t have the same options.

Cc, I shudder to think what must have happened to you. You never speak of kids or friends, or family. Your life seems to be comprised only of coming here and insuring we know tha babies must die for your life to have any meaning. We get it. Your vitriol has been spewed. It only makes us more resolutely prolife and thankful for our full lives. You can go now. It/yois aren’t working.

“Pro-life and proud of it” as you said above CC? I knew you were a lifer working in disguise to demonstrate the misery and hate of pro-aborts.
You just blew your cover!

goodness gracious, you want to prevent woman from having abortions AND keep brain dead people alive?? Best thing that ever happened to Teri schiavo was the courts recognizing her right to die.

We don’t want innocent human life taken, period. Regardless of age, stage, debility, race, socioecomic status, etc. And if Terri Schindler were alive now, she’d be with us on that. No one questions anyone’s “right to die”, per se; but when the government and medical profession arrogate to themselves the right to KILL the vulnerable, that’s different. Very different.

Wouldn’t abortion be prevented if problem pregnancies were prevented in the first place?
That should be the focus. Cut off DEMAND and supply becomes irrelevant. Happily pregnant women don’t seek abortions.

“Best thing that ever happened to Teri schiavo was the courts recognizing her right to die.”
There’s no taking a person seriously when they argue that the best thing that ever happened to a person was when they were slowly dehydrated to death over a period of two weeks by order of the state, while that person’s father, mother, brother, and sister were barred from bringing any contraband WATER into her room lest they give her a drink. We recently had a “Fortnight for Freedom”; the 14 day long MURDER of Terri Schiavo by the United States government should be called the “Fortnight for Satan”.

This remains the bright dividing line: Pro-lifers refuse to submit to the dogma that killing is a good solution to any of the problems that face us.
Point of order; No court recognized that Terri Schiavo had a “right to die.” The court only recognized that her estranged ex-husband had a right to terminate her.
Likewise, Roe v Wade failed protect the child’s right to life. The court only recognized the mother had a right to terminate her.

Hi Jake,
Too many years ago I was offered a fundamental choice in the words of a proverb: ‘It is better to light a small candle, than to curse the darkness.’ It seems from your disdain-filled posts that you would rather embrace the darkness (and blindness) that often comes from accepting the status quo. What really gets me is the constant barrage-of-stupidity that proceeds from trolls’ mouths.
Case in Point: In 1981 I underwent a novel medical procedure in Auschaffenburg, Germany called Cell Therapy [Zelltherapie in German]. When I was in the hospital, I saw a teenager literally bouncing from wall-to-wall as he staggered down the hallway. I asked about him and was told that he had been in a car-accident a week earlier. Since the accident, he had been in a coma, and what I was witnessing was his early-recovery after just two days on cell therapy treatment. I have little doubt that Terri, this 12 yr-old, and thousands of other head-brain injured folks would benefit greatly from Cell Therapy techniques. [Cell Therapy is presently (and has been for decades) banned by the FDA. Most ‘drugs’ are one(at most a few) chemical only; a cell is composed of thousands of components and so doesn’t ‘fit’ into FDA-drug concepts.]
A tiny ‘light’ for you! WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH IT????

I was a friend of Joan Appleton for years. I will miss her dry humor.LOL.. She was so caring of others. Our friend Margaret died of breast cancer and she was right there by her side until she took her last breath. I look forward to as the bible says:to running the race to win the prize of Christ Jesus(living my life for Jesus and when I die I win the ticket to Heaven)….Then I get to be with my two friends in heaven, together. God is sooooo…..good!
