UK gov’t’s new Minister for Women: Limit abortion to 20 weeks
You have got to look at these matters in a commonsense way.
I looked at it from the really important stance of the impact on women and children….
What we are trying to do here is not to put obstacles in people’s way but to reflect the way medical science has moved on.
~ Maria Miller, the UK’s new Culture Secretary and Minister for Women, suggesting that the limit for abortion should be reduced from 24 weeks to 20 due to the improving survivability/viability rate, as quoted by The Daily Mail, October 2.
Miller is a self-described “very modern feminist” whose belief in this restriction was “driven by the very practical impact that late-term abortion has on women.”

Well, this is an awesome step in the right direction, but let’s not stop at 20 weeks! I hope the U.S. can and will follow the example set by the U.K. in this regard. Sometimes we wonder if our prayers to end abortion make a difference when there is so much pro-death legislation and sentiment in our society, but these things give me definite hope that God is answering our prayers!
This might end the moral insanity of trying desperately to save the life of an early delivered baby in one section of the hospital while wondering “What do we do now?” when it is seen that what was expected to be a dead fetus came out as a breathing baby.
Britain is a very sad case. Abortion was not foisted upon the nation by a judicial ruling. It was legalized by the democratic decision of parliament way back in 1967. The Thatcher government curtailed abortion rights ever so slightly at the very tail end of her administration, but otherwise the 1967 law has remained pretty much unchallenged. Republicans in America will at least say they are against legal abortion; the Conservative party in Britain has not even done that.
How odd. Once again, WHAT something is, is determined by others’ opinion of it. ”We can maybe keep you alive at 24 weeks….I declare thee human!”
“the Conservative party in Britain has not even done that.”
The only good thing about the Conservative party in Britain is they’re not the Conservative Party of Canada. Seriously they won’t even give us 20 weeks, or 24 , or anything.
