Pro-abortion mayor Michael Bloomberg wants to “save lives”
I got to defend my children and you and everybody else and do what’s right to save lives….
Obesity kills. There’s just no question about it.
~ Pro-abortion New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, reacting to a judge’s decision to revoke the city-wide ban on the sale of 16 oz. sodas, as reported by the New York Post, March 11

Dear Mister Mayor:
The irony is screaming so loudly, I had to turn you off.

I feel a little sorry for the guy. He might actually believe he is doing something right. Either way though, he should be run out of town on a rail. Maybe that would jog his conscience back into reality.

Poor Nanny Bloomberg. He has a superhero complex. And he has no idea what freedom means. Hopefully the sensible folks left in NY will vote him out.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” – CS Lewis

“Kids! Kids! Put down those sugary soft drinks! Please turn down the music pumping through those ear buds! Come here and I will give you some magic abortifacient pills instead.”
Seriously…this guy doesn’t get it. I wish common sense would smack him in the head.

Oh Sydney. Don’t be silly.
The kiddies can still wash down their abortifacient pills with 8oz. sodas.

Yeah that will fix it. Ive drank pop my entire life in moderation. Im not obese at all. If I wanted to eat ten big macs 10 large McDonalds fries and wash it down with 10 sodas its my body my choice. What next mandatory workouts?

I just don’t understand why he doesn’t realize that people who want more soda will… buy more of the smaller sodas lol. I can’t imagine why he thinks this will work.

Buy two 8 oz. right Jack?
And YES whatever happened to MY BODY MY CHOICE?

So, killing your baby is a personal decision that is nobody’s business, but between the woman and her god.
But, what size/kind of drink someone drinks is something the government should be able to control.
Got it.

“let’s do what’s right to save lives” he says.
Then he should be the first to say – ‘let’s save everyone – including the unborn – instead of outright ending their lives by abortion.”
Let’s pray for an open heart – for all of those who support abortion – to receive the message of love.

Jack n carla….riiiiiight. Its a no brainer. People will just buy more pop. My girlfriend has been chugging a liter or 2 of diet pepsi every day for yeeeeears! She doesn’t like coffee…im a coffee lover so i hope they dont start messing with my coffee. I really believe that we need to stop telling everyone what to do as far as what they eat. A morbidly obese person is aware that they are but pop?? You will have to take away a heck of a lot more than pop to stop obesity!!

And my friend the pop guzzler? Shes at a normal body weight. I know my risks with being a smoker….and?? I enjoy smoking. Im buying them. Abortion is a procedure that murders children and tax payers often have to pay for it.

Thank you for the C.S. Lewis, Chris!
Why has no one called Bloomberg out on his “hateful” position on 16 oz. soda drinkers?! And his anti-obese people rhetoric?! * eyeroll *

I think Bloomberg’s position on abortion while also pushing for abortion rights is crazy.
Just about as crazy as pro-lifers supporting the NRA and opposing expansions of health care.

Huh? I think you added an extra abortion to that sentence.

Thanks for the clarification, that does indeed work better.

This is only one of many reasons why we should dispense with “pro-life” and “pro-choice.” The positions are about ABORTION. Someone might believe that lives can be saved by campaigning against obesity and its causes, smoking, drinking, and a multitude of other things. That person is certainly for “life” but is not taking a position that is automatic on abortion..
Some people regard the death penalty as a “life” issue and believe society should never presume to terminate a human life regardless of what crimes the murderer has committed. Jill Stanek supports the death penalty because she believes taking the murderer’s life underlines the importance of the lives of the victims. However, just the term “pro-life” ends up getting people entangled with the question of execution.
There are a million choices both men and women make every day that are not controversial.
Anti-legal abortion. Pro-outlawing abortion.
Pro-legal abortion.
Those are the positions.

Ex-GOP “Just about as crazy as pro-lifers supporting the NRA and opposing expansions of health care. ”
I support 2nd Amendment rights as they were written by the framers, we are members of the NRA b/c they are the largest lobbying body for gun rights, otherwise we feel like our rights will get trampled. And they have seriously cool perks for members like shooting comps (I’m an excellent shot even while preg) and workshops for women on self defense. I’m not sure someone who does not exercise their 2nd Amendment rights can understand, just my honest opinion.
I am against GOV’T “expansion of healthcare” b/c in short, they always waste money and create dependency. I’m not a fan of big gov’t, they tend to want to rule instead of serve. And no I am not a Republican.
I dislike pat answers like this one Ex-GOP, but then I guess I have my own pat answer in reply. “Just as crazy as Pro-lifers voting for someone who voted for partial birth abortion and called babies mistakes instead of the behavior that created the life within a mistake.”
Mayor B’s time is up, apparently they have restrictions on how many terms you can serve in NYC and he’s hit his. Don’t worry he’ll still be throwing his money around trying to control people’s lives through his “Non-profit”.

Think of all the $ being wasted on this silly push to outlaw large containers for soda, all of the $ for the oversight and discussion.
This is why I dislike Gov’t being large enough with enough time on it’s hands to think up stuff like this.
