Stanek weekend vid: Baby moved by mother’s singing
by Hans Johnson
We all know babies can display a wide range of emotions with all the gusto of an adult. But can they also be as genuinely moved by the beauty of music as adults?
Amanda Leroux, of Val Gagne in northern Ontario, likes to sing to her baby. Nothing unusual there. But watch the reaction of her 10-month old daughter Marie-Lynne to her rendition of Rod Stewart’s “My Heart Can’t Tell You No.”
This is the video uploaded to YouTube by father Alain:

But most see Marie-Lynne slowly scrunch her face and intermittently beam as the tears flow. Her parents told CNN they are certain she enjoyed her mother’s voice.

Awww!
Beautiful emotion from this little one. She already knows her momma has a good voice. LL <3
My wife showed me this one a month or so back – one of the best videos on YouTube.
I saw this video before. I have mixed feelings about it. Why would she do something that she knows will make her daughter cry? I think its a lttle mean.
This baby looks in pain to me. The smile is her effort to show mom she loves her, despite the singing.
Well now, if she’s capable of trying to spare her mother’s feelings at such a young age, I would think it’s just as possible that she’s genuinely moved to tears by the beauty of her mother’s voice.
Music – in this case the voice – can be enough to do it.
