Jennifer Aniston shared a few moments of camaraderie when interviewing long-time pro-abortion feminist Gloria Steinem at the February 10 Makers Conference in Ranchos Palos Verdes, CA. The Huffington Post recapped:
Jennifer stated to Gloria, “The public has a great interest in our personal lives. I know you’ve come up against this – and I certainly have too – where being a woman, our value and our worth is basically associated with our marital status or whether or not we have procreated.”

Well, I’m glad Steinem didn’t get married and have kids if it would have made her miserable. Not everyone is cut out for marriage or kids, that’s fine to make a different choice. I actually didn’t see much wrong with this video (if you disregard their views on abortion). Not having kids is fine, aborting them is a different story. I do wish that Steinem had made a different choice than abortion to realize her dreams. :(
Sorry Jenny, I have no interest in your personal life at all and I NEVER watched Friends (never watched Sex in the City or any of the stuff, either) or any of your other programs, as I think you are a mediocre actress. As for Gloria, who really takes her seriously anymore besides her syncophants in the media? I don’t think that most millenials even heard of her.
Amen phiymiss I am not a Jennifer Aniston fan and not a FRIENDS fan and I really didnt find that clip amusing. I believe Steinem is now married and she seemed to be tripping over her tongue for words. And Jennifer I will never know who gave you the title Americas Sweetheart but that you are not. And Im not the slightest bit interested on who youre dating. The tabloids are.
I never liked Brad Pitt either but he did call their relationship boring and a waste of 6 years for him. I know that must have hurt but you didnt want kids and Brad did. Now hes having better days with Angelina and all of your movies have been box office flops. All we read about are your failed engagements now. OR is Jenn pregnant? Her star fell so long ago I guess shes been reduced to interviews like this. Sad if you ask me.
Your value and your worth is based on your marital status? Since when? Its based on your integrity and the way you present yourself. Ive met single childless women or divorced women and I would not value them any less.
I have to be cold here about Jen’s statement to Steinem but it seems to me if it were not for the tabloids, she’d be relegated to yesterday. She owes her popularity to those in the general public being interested in her personal life. That is what sells and brings people to her movies, not the acting. Not happy, I’d say retitre to St Lucia or someplace.
What’s interesting though is that Jen is becoming like Steinem – old, alone and bitter…
Indeed agreeing with you Thomas R. Those tabloids keep her fans interested. Yes she is becoming the next Gloria. That seems to be the same thing Aniston says about kids. In the future. Well the future has arrived. And Im sure JA has taken birth control for most of her life as she was once pregnant from Pitt and miscarried. But Brad has always said he wanted a big family and Aniston wanted a big film career. She wanted to be the next Rita Hayworth. One girl said no matter what role she plays she will always be Rachel.
She’s bitter and alone because tabloids won’t let her previous marriage go and she’s not married with children? Sure.
You realize that a lot of people actually genuinely like her acting, right? I loved Rachel on Friends and Horrible Bosses was really pretty funny. The Break Up was a pretty funny movie too. Her movies haven’t bombed Heather, I don’t know where you got that. I think Horrible Bosses pulled in over 200 million alone, and films like Along Came Polly and The Break Up also made tons. You don’t have to like her or her acting but to pretend that she has no actual fans or that she’s not a success, that’s just not even factual.

Interesting fact about Rita Hayworth. She was from Spain, and despite the fact that she didn’t look like the usual stereotype of a Spaniard (dark eyes, hair, and complexion — she was actually a natural redhead with green eyes) the studio heads made her change her name anyway. to make her seem more “Anglo.” Ridiculous!
And yes Gloria says DS and the crowd roars..oh just so original. Imo ..and I may get flack for saying so…I do believe that Aniston never got over Pitt and I also feel there is some jealousy there still! People are free to disagree but Angelina pilots her own airplane she has kids and I do think she and Brad make a better couple. Id read that Brad was kinda taken aback that JA was on the cover of his favorite magazine. Brad said ” She never even had any interest in that kind of stuff so I sure was shocked to see her on the cover knowing it was my favorite magazine.” And Anistons bff Chelsea Handler slams Jolie in her act. IK you cant believe everything you read but…..
Omg they’ve been divorced like a decade. I really don’t think it’s fair to bring up Brad every time Jen gets discussed.
What I think that does is support her point that women are viewed through the lens of their marital status and children, and nothing else.
DPL I realize you are a fan of hers and thats fine. Im not and I dont know of too many people who are. To each their own. The only movie she was in that did make me laugh was Office Space. Aside from that everything Ive seen her in was so bad I had to turn it off. Shes just not my cup of tea.
Well then perhaps she ought to tell her buddy Chelsea to stop trashing AJ and Brad. It kinda looks like Aniston is having her pal do her dirty work. The Pitts give no response which is for the best.
Yes, I like her acting and I admire her success and grace when it comes to the ridiculous amount of mean tabloid attention she gets. I mean, come on, every time Brangelina has a new kid or does anything “coupley” the tabloids have to mention Jen and wonder what she thinks about that and does that hurt her feelings and etc, and it’s just ridiculous. And you wonder why celebrities end up with drinking and drug problems so often, lol. And I’m not bashing the Jolie-Pitt family, at all, because I think Brad’s a phenomenal actor and Jolie is pretty good herself, and they seem to have a nice family. I just think it’s high time people stopped speculating and dragging Jen in whenever they talk about Brad and vice versa.
And I’ve never heard her say a word against him or Angelina. She actually has publicly spoken that she doesn’t believe that Brad was sexually involved with Angelina before they separated, and that she doesn’t wish them ill. High class way of handling that very public humiliating experience. But when are people going to let her move on? Why is her success, her life now, forever tied in with his, when they’ve went their separate ways and are by all reports pretty amicable.
And Chelsea Handler insults everyone, including her own friends and family lol, I don’t think that Jen has any control over what Handler does on her show.

I never thought the tabloid coverage was ever that mean. Its just overkill…Jenn is pregnant Jenn has a boyfriend Jenn this and that. And she once did say about Pitt and Jolie and the affair ” yeah thats not cool.” Okay she handled herself well. How will we know and do we care anymore? Heck Tori Spelling did the same with Dean. An affair is never good.
However sometimes people grow apart and in the case of Tori and Dean they obviously seem happier together then with their former spouses.
Lol well she’s allowed to say “that’s not cool” about her husband leaving her for another woman. I mean, obviously Angelina and Brad have more chemistry and similar goals in life (I really think their family is adorable and their biological kids are going to be gorgeous as adults I bet), and that their marriage wouldn’t have lasted with such different goals, but there were much more respectful ways for him to handle leaving. I don’t think he should have been somehow required to stay with her and possibly never have children or a happy life (he really seems to be a family guy), but publicly humiliating your first spouse like that is wrong. It doesn’t appear she holds a grudge though, and I really wish the tabloids would just shut up and stop talking about them as if their lives are still intertwined. It’s been a decade almost I think. Honestly I think a lot of tabloids are just like, general bullying.
And I don’t like how people degrade Jen’s success. She’s one of the most highly paid actresses in Hollywood, her movies generally make millions, Friends is one of the most successful sitcoms of all time, etc. I don’t think it’s right to just dismiss all that because she gets a lot of tabloid attention.
And plus, we are not privy to any celebrity’s true private life, and so we shouldn’t assume we know the true issues in anyone’s marriage. It just has always creeped me out how tabloids and paparazzi will basically stalk celebrities and never give them a moment’s peace. There’s a reason Johnny Depp lives in France, because he can’t stand his children being stalked by tabloids and fans.
Yes Jack I agree. On one hand being famous is the price you pay for always having your picture taken or having some tabloid spin up an untrue story about you. Celebrities go through depression too. I believe Demi Moore took her break up hard also. Thats why she moved to Idaho.

Yes Christina..the root of beauty seems to have started in Hollywood. Thats why most of them are strung out on drugs or invest thousands in plastic surgery. Looking to be perfect. Heck Pam Anderson has had her breasts removed and put back in…i believe shes a double G cup now..more times than I change my underwear. Thats also why I believe kids with DS are aborted. Also women do abort so they wont ruin their bodies…a total myth. Madonna aborted right before going on tour.

I do agree women, especially public figures, get judged on looks much more than men do (though men do get judged to a point on looks) but I do think she has a point that women are judged pretty harshly for choosing to remain single (or being unable to find a good match) or not having children, much more than men are judged. It seems to me men are judged on their careers and earning capacity while women are judges on their family structure (and attractiveness).
And I do think people tend to mock virgins or those who choose to only have one sex partner for their whole lives, but I think that women are kind of in a catch-22, they get called sluts if they do and prudes if they don’t. Men don’t tend to be judged for promiscuity as much as women do (unless they are gay or bisexual), but virgin shaming seems to be directed at men somewhat more than women imo.

Jolie is still beautiful, not that it really matters to me. But she’s also had three biological children, including twins, and is raising six (regardless of how many nannies and housekeepers she has, that’s still a pretty big job on top of having a career). I bet she doesn’t have as much time as a single woman with no children to maintain appearance. But it doesn’t really matter, I don’t think people should be judged on looks like that.
I just think these 2 have it all wrong. You never know. Gloria might be having regrets about her abortion now that shes old ( as Carla says never give up on a conversion) she may be looking back now saying I could have done it and still lived my dreams. No proof she would have been miserable. Maybe her son or daughter could have been living the dream with their mother.
Ive been to those trash blogs like Perez Hilton…hes bullied Jenn for years calling her Jennifer Maniston or in short The Mann! Ive also seen blogs where people trash Jolie calling het Mangelina. Both women are attractive imo but you will never stop the public from having their say.
Yeah Heather sometimes people regret not having children, and many women really regret their abortions eventually. I wish that she had given her child up for adoption if she didn’t want to be a mother rather than killing him or her. But some people are simply not cut out for parenting. Some people remain childless all their lives and are content with that. And some people shouldn’t be allowed to keep their children at all. My parents never should have raised children, and there are plenty of abusive or unhappy people who would have been miles better off (and their children, too) if they had chosen to avoid having children or given up an unplanned and unwanted baby up for adoption. There really is nothing wrong with choosing not to have kids or marry, I wish people would respect those who make other choices than marriage and children (not saying you were being disrespectful, but a lot of people are).
Then on the other hand there are those who judge those who have “too many” kids or kids too young, that kind of thing. Or judge someone for refusing to abort and becoming a single mother, or judge a guy for getting full custody of his kids because “they should be with their mother”. People are judgey and rude.

And another reasonn we see celebs obsessed with body image. Anorexic teens want to be thin like models. Who has the largest breasts? Who looks the youngest? Heck just the other day a blog was beating up on Val Kilmer for his weight gain. And heaven forbid a celeb takes a private stroll on the beach and has an ounce of cellulite or wrinkle. They are quick to point it out.

But see I really don’t get why it matters so much what people look like, especially when it comes to the average woman instead of celebrities (who do work in a very public field). I mean, you have fairly average looking or even unattractive men (imo) like Dustin Hoffman, Joe Pesci, Tom Hanks, etc. These dudes still get multiple roles and no one really talks about what they look like. Female celebrities get a lot of attention paid to their attractiveness. Doesn’t make sense to me. I mean, I’m a guy and of course I like looking at pretty ladies but idk Kathy Bates is one of my favorites actresses and her lack of Hollywood good looks has never made me not enjoy her films. It just seems really unbalanced how female celebrities get judged.
Even Brad Pitt himself is getting a little bigger and less attractive as he ages, but everyone focuses on Angelina’s looks! Even though she’s the one who bore his children!
Id read that Gias family was not at all happy with that movie. Her brother Joe said it was not an accurate portrayal of his sister at all. He said she did carry a knife but was never violent. He went on to say The modeling industry used her and the movie violated her further.

And Jack im not here to bash your taste. If you like JA then you do. I have read blogs where men adore her. As ive said I just do not care for her or any of her movies.
I guess people are less critical of men because they play the mobster tough guy roles..like the late James Gandolfini…yes he was heavy but it fit his character. And he slept around with the attractive ladies because he was a cool gangster. But women do take more heat although I see the guys get it from time to time also.
Charlize Theron gained a lot of weight to play the role of serial killer Eileen Warnos. Nevertheless i lost myself in the movie with her inncredible acting.

Lol CT, it’s fine to call me Jack if you want (it is my real first name haha) . I just like my new name because it amuses me and works on so many levels. :) And I’m glad we agree. Like I said, no one has to like Jen’s acting or whatever, and her political views leave much to be desired in the case of abortion, but she gets criticism that’s genuinely unfair and untrue in my opinion. And that’s a problem with how women in Hollywood (and women in general) are treated and viewed.

Ha, really? I’ve heard a few people say that, I don’t get it. I’m a good-looking guy according to various sources and I’m still somewhat jealous of his looks! lol. Though I think it’s much more important that he’s a good actor (he really, really is, just watch Fight Club or 12 Monkeys or Se7en or any other movie he was in, he’s really talented), and a good father and husband.
I wonder if this also applies to single lesbian women. Ive never felt that a single lesbian female was worth less. Many dont want children at all.
I have a family member who interacts with celebrities a lot and she said Jen Aniston is one of the coldest out there. She also gives no money to charity. There are celebrities that as much as I can’t stand their politics do try to care for their fellow man and give a lot of money to charity.
That being said, I like a lot of Jen’s movies. The Good Girl always cracked me up. Office Space…another good one. Some of the movies she picks are quirky and I’m a quirky person so I like that.

She’s done commercials (which can be even more important than money sometimes for charities, to have someone famous bring attention to their cause) for St Jude and other charitable organizations, as well as donating to them. She also has donated to other charities like RAINN and Doctors Without Borders and such. And she’s been speaking out about dolphin murder. I wish she’d change her views on abortion though. All the charity in the world doesn’t help if someone dies before they are born.
The only reason I knew or thought so was because I saw her in the commercial. Her body language sitting next to the girl speaks volumes. She seems very cold and fake.
People often think I’m cold or snobby, but I’m actually just really a nervous person and super socially awkward, so I tend not to talk or interact with people much. And I can’t stand physical affection so people think I’m rude because I won’t hug them back, but I’m not so much rude as I just can’t stand it. Things are not always as they seem, I’m not going to judge her for not having the “correct” body language or affect. But the statement that she gives no money to charity or does not do any charitable things is demonstrably false.
My daughter had ALL leukemia so Ive given to St Jude but the Aniston commercial is bad. The little girl explains the type of cancer she has and imo Aniston gives kindof a fake awww and half hugs her. It sounds more like a groan. IDK you cant really trust a pro death celebrity butt Pitt and Jolie are liberaals too. Brads mom and Angelinas dad are conservatives.
AJs mom passed away from cancer. Id read that she was super kind and generous to the hospital staff who cared for her mother. I think she had breast cancer.

Heh… for people who “have no interest” in her – some of you seem to know an AWFUL lot about her. Typically when I have no interest in someone, I can’t tell you their life story short of their favorite color and whether they floss.
And indeed, Jack and Doug, it always cracks me up when women blame sexism for women having self esteem and image issues. Women are absolutely brutal, cruel, downright EVIL to each other. If a guy doesn’t think you’re hot, he’ll say “ehh, not feeling it” – and drop it, not completely and unapologetically rip you to shreds.
Well, I’m not a woman so I don’t know what y’all get up to when together, but I do think people tend to be meaner to those of their own gender than of the opposite. Guys don’t tear each others looks down generally, but there’s definitely a lot of annoying competitiveness and bullying and stuff like that with groups of younger guys at least, dunno about older men.
I do notice through my ex wife some of what you are talking about Amanda, though. Like, my ex is actress thin even after two kids and (I personally think) absolutely gorgeous, and she’d every once and a while come home from work in tears because she’d get a lot of jokes about being anorexic (lol, she’s the opposite of anorexic) and mean comments about her makeup or whatever. I don’t get it, must be some type of competition thing.
I know how she feels. I’ve always been stick thin. Just genetics – both of my parents are too. It was GIRLS, not boys, who felt the need to point out I was small-chested. And it was girls who accused me of having an eating disorder. Also for some reason, people feel that its socially acceptable to joke with women about having an eating disorder (can’t tell you how many “go eat a cheeseburger” jokes I’ve heard) – but if you dared to respond with a joke about being overweight, suddenly you will have crossed a line!?!?! So we end up just taking it.
Lol both me and my ex are thin people, and our kids hang around the 20th percentile for weight and the 80th for height, so I think they’ll be skinny too. I think skinny women get more crap but for guys there’s the whole “you can’t possibly be very strong since you’re so small” thing I find annoying. I can bench plenty as long as I have a brace on my bad wrist!
But yeah it’s only dudes who have commented on that stuff with me, just like I believe it’s only women who ever make fun of my ex for her looks. I think it’s a competitive thing within gender, the bashing.

No one is more vicious to women than other women. They were likely very jealous of you. I nearly had my career destroyed because of the vindictiveness and jealousy of a certain woman who falsely accused me of being a slacker and fooling around with the guys at a clinical rotation.
I mentioned this to my daughter, and she said “mom, people kill because of jealousy. Why not make a mess of someone’s life for the same reason?”
So, in your case Amanda, why wouldn’t someone want to hurt you out of jealousy and vindictiveness?
Reality, I’ve heard that animals that eat meat taste a lot worse than herbivores, so maybe I’d be in high demand when we all turn to cannibalism! I better start stockpiling guns! :)
