Pro-life vid of the day: Womb transplant recipient to give birth
by LauraLoo
A woman is set to become the first in the world to give birth from a transplanted womb after doctors successfully implanted an embryo into her body.
The unnamed woman, who was born without a womb, was one of nine womb transplant recipients in Sweden between September 2012 and April 2013.
What makes this even more remarkable is that the transplanted womb was donated by the woman’s mother.

The IVF procedures for “implanting an embryo” are “going too far,” according to the bioethic guidelines of Catholic Christians. They have thought this through more deeply than just about everyone, and I am persuaded by their moral analysis.
As a pro-lifer, whenever I hear about a successful IVF procedure I can’t avoid thinking about the other human embryos who were killed or frozen during the process.

That’s what I worry about. I don’t really care if people are doing fertility treatments, but I’m completely opposed to allowing all those embryos to get tossed out and left to rot.
I’m only OK with IVF if the embryos are all implanted in the mother (maybe at different times) or if she donates leftover embryos to other women if she gets a baby or babies before trying them.
