Pro-life vid of the day: Gwyneth Paltrow works harder than 9-5 moms
by LauraLoo
While recently vacationing in the Bahamas, actress Gwyneth Paltrow made some patronizing comments that have offended moms who work 9-5 jobs and don’t have the luxuries that women like Gwyneth – who makes millions of dollars per movie – have:

And let’s not forget some of the most unsung heroes on the planet are single moms (and dads, for that matter). They do the 9-5 grind and then come home to raise good children.

Oh Gwyenny. Get your head out of your butt. Please.
The thing is, every parent has their own unique struggles and challenges. What might be super duper easy to me is a struggle to another parent; likewise, what comes naturally to one parent is probably my biggest weakness. Parents ought to come along side each other and encourage one another, not get into the childish shouting contest of “Well, my job parenting is actually harder than yours because…” Everyone has unique struggles. Even Gwenyth.
I’m not doubting that she has struggles and that she works hard but what’s annoying and grating is that she has the nerve to say that she works harder than other parents. Sorry, hon, parenting is hard no matter what your socioeconomic status because when you have kids, you don’t holidays or weekends or whatever. All parents have to deal with juggling schedules.
Is it just me or does anyone else get truly sick of the perpetual faux outrage that drives seemingly every decision made in America these days? Who knows or cares if Paltrow or my stay-at-home wife has it tougher or works harder? Shouldn’t we care more that Paltrow thinks it’s OK to kill babies? The annoying has become outrageous and the truly outrageous is celebrated, ignored or glossed over.
Her “career” has not been so up and up lately so I think she wants to get some attention around her for publicity to get back into some kind of relevancy. Her latest movie reviews were on the low end of the rating scale. I also think she is patting herself on the back for splitting from that rocker schmucker. My advice to Gwyneth: cool it before your publicist has to damage control….
Well, in some way I agree with her. Just because she’s rich doesn’t mean she is happy just to dump her kids with a nanny for weeks on end. Having a predictable routine makes life much simpler and if she wants to be both a movie star AND a mother who is present in her children’s lives, I can see how it would be difficult. On the other hand, with all the money she has – she could easily live a simple live with her kids for the rest of the days and not set foot to work ever again. So, it’s really her choice. There are other “unpredictable” jobs women have to do (working shifts, going on business travel, etc) and they don’t even have the tons of money to show for it. So, how about them?
Another celebrity who’s out of touch with reality. What else is new ???
I agree with LibertyBelle and Chris.
What I might seem as normal for me, could be another mom’s Achilles’ heel. And what I think of as really hard, might be completely easy for someone else. Yes, it’s Gwyneth’s choice to be an actress and mother, but that doesn’t mean it’s necessarily easier or harder than being a non-famous mom. I don’t have to deal with paparazzi or red carpet. In some ways, I really think that’s harder as a woman and a mom. Being constantly judged on superficial things can’t be easy.
But like Chris said, it’s not about which kind of moms have it harder. It really isn’t.
Another celebrity who’s out of touch with reality. What else is new ??? – you’re right, I’ve never met any of these people ;-)
Rich people have problems that those of us with happy & normal lives, families, and jobs will never understand. Add the surreality of celebrity on top of decadent wealth and it is no surprise that Hollywood types are so unhappy and weird.
They are like little gods without a universe to rule. It is a frustrating existence.
Del I agree with you. Did you know ( or care ) that Paltrow was voted one on THE top hated celebrities? She also runs a site called GOOP and owns a 2000$ coffee maker. They make $ but they still have problems. I guess Gwen once whined “I dont understand why so many people hate me.” Her mother says all are so jealous of her daughter because she has it all. Height beauty a career. Blythe snapped ” must be awful to be so jealous of my beautiful daughter.” But dont they collect $ on Mothers Day for PP? Uh hem maybe thats why people dont like either one of you.
To tell you the truth I dont pay her any mind. Shes an average actress with average looks and an evil heart. Who cares? And her mothers ship sailed long ago. Now I see Blythe Danner on that osteoporosis commercial. Meet the Folkers was stupid. Did she think that made her a grand screen goddess?
She should try having her husband deployed for 15 months in a war zone with no nannies, chefs, etc and see how hard life really can be.
Shes an average actress with average looks and an evil heart. Who cares?
You are right. If she didn’t have an actress mother and a wealthy producer father (“St. Elsewhere”) we wouldn’t be talking about her right now.
I bet that her gardner, housekeeper, nanny, etc., put in more work in one day than she does in a week.
Wait, you mean to tell me that a celebrity said something stupid? What else is new?
The woman earns her keep by playing an adult version of “Make Believe”, does anything more need to be said?
She can play whatever she wants Subvet as long she uses some of those brain cells before making dumb comments that may actually bite her….
Thomas R, Alice Cooper used to remark on the idiocy of those who got their political insights from rock stars, the same can be said for anyone using an actress like Paltrow as a role model or taking seriously any of her prattle. Isn’t she the same one who named her child “Apple”? To quote Tom Hanks in “Forrest Gump”, “Stupid is as stupid does.”
Ty phillymiss..I dont think too many people pay the attention she craves so it botheres her. And she has put down her country…get out!
Subvet – yes I’ve heard about that “apple” name. I think it means “apple of my eye” for Gwyneth (but the whole thing would have been too long on the birth cert). Hopefully we’ll be around long enough to see whether her daughter maintains that name in adulthood :)
The below is a pretty good read regarding the subject of this thread and Gwyneth in general:

Well if you’re going to have the gall to name your kid Moses then something’s bound to get parted at some stage!
Yep Apple and Moses are her kids. I could not find any evidence that Danner or Paltrow have ever aborted. Danner said this “Women will have abortions no matter what so we might as well keep it legal.” And the most attention Paltrow has ever gotten was when she was friends with Madonna. You may add me to the list of people who just dont care for her. And she doesnt have any memorable movies imo.
I kinda think the name Apple is cute. :)
I don’t care anything about Ms Paltrow. I liked her as Pepper Potts in Iron Man, that’s about it.
Um DLPL you literally just stole my comment! lol
I was about to say I liked her as Pepper and Apple’s not actually bad. Better than North.
Greetings! Very useful advice within this post! It’s the little changes that make the most important changes.
Many thanks for sharing!
Thank you, test for your insightful and very on topic commentary. It was very useful to all who read it.
This post talks about the basic questions that people ask about the procedure.
In Alabama “Of the 59,979 live births in Alabama in 2010, 42 percent were born to unmarried mothers, and 12. A single is to apply straight to a hospital and a further 1 is to have an employment agency to help you.
