Pro-choice film collaborated with Planned Parenthood
Robespierre’s commitment to accuracy was such that she sent Planned Parenthood a draft of her script and shot the appointment scene at a local branch.
“There are colors there - you can’t recreate them on a soundstage,” she says. “I don’t know where they get their paint from. Like a special Planned Parenthood hardware store - these pinks and yellows. It was really warm in there.”
~ Film director Gillian Robespierre, describing Planned Parenthood’s collaboration in the making of her debut film Obvious Child, Village Voice, May 21

“I don’t know where they get their paint from”
They probably googled ‘nursery room paint ideas’.
Her eyes… here and at the Village Voice link. So vacant and angry.
The feminist pro-borts are touting this movie. No one else cares.
I love how “she doesn’t owe him anything” like the child inside her isn’t part him. So sad that this is where we have gone as a society.
The name of the script is ironic, no?
Wow sounds like a real hoot!
So Beyonce is a feminist? Swinging around a stripper pole, writhing around the floor half naked, and dressing like a hooker is soooo liberating!
Sad to say, but porn girls are the idols of the new feminism. Using her own sexuality for her own gain, independent and defiant of patriarchal morality, the porn girl is the new feminist.
The paleofeminists are still disgusted by the objectification of women. But they blame the men who pay for sex and pornography, and the anti-feminists who shame to strippers and prostitutes. They are ideologically unable to blame a woman who makes her own choices, whatever the choice may be, even the conscious choice to be a sexual object.
…It was really warm in there.” I would say the proximity to the fires of hell would make it “warm in there.”
@Del – When my daughter was a teen she liked the Spice Girls. I thought they were a little risque but they are nothing like Rhianna, Miley, etc. Its sad that many young girls look to them as role models. I feel sorry for parents raising kids nowadays.
@phillymiss — I forget the details, but a year or two ago there was a beautiful young girl who won some sort of national academic award. She was being interviewed by a fluffy report, who decided to ask the girl whether it was more important to be so smart or so pretty. (I’m sure she was hoping for a deep answer from the teen.)
The teen responded that it was much more important to be hot than to be smart. The world doesn’t care if a woman is smart… there are lots of smart people. But if is woman is hot then she gets a lot of attention, and she can accomplish things.
It was shocking. But she knew how the plain girls and nerdy kids are treated. Our feminist culture is superficial — and women are objects in it, just as children are obstacles. A culture of life will once again value women for their total worth, and not just their sex appeal.
Pay no attention to the simple yet devastating fact that an innocent child dies in abortion.
PAINT COLORS!! Let’s talk PAINT COLORS!!
Del I am not surprised by your observations, which are spot on.
Saddened but not surprised. To be a plain girl or to be fat in high school is a nightmare. If a gay kid commits suicide because of bullying (which of course, is wrong, its a national tragedy, but if some fat kid or homely chick does it, who cares?
My mom always said she blamed womens lib for ruining a lot of good men and women. The new big thing the younger girls and guys say are ” My babies mama or baby daddy.” Marriage? Pffft nobody even thinks about that anymore!
A feminist type friend of mine had a book called “Think Like A Man But Act Like A Lady.” She asked me if Id like to read it. I declined in a polite way but was secretly thinking…why would I even want to practice that? Women and men will never be the same no matter what. That is NOT how God made it to be.
@Phillymiss: Last week, a freshman college coed in Wisconsin killed herself with a shotgun. Cute, smart, honor student. Some sort of pre-medical major. Last March, she shot a porn-audition video in Las Vegas. Her schoolmates found out — and the result was devastating. Some guys come on to her with violent demands for sex. Lots of old girlfriends punished her for being a slut.
The feminist backlash is strange. No mention of condemnation for the porn industry for using young girls. No mention of the danger to porn girls. No mention of the classic feminist opposition to “objectifying women.” The neo-feminist notion is that any choice a girl makes is noble and should be defended. No such thing as a bad choice.
But the natural revulsion that natural people feel toward real-world pornography and prostitution? That is condemned as “judgmental” and “bullying.” Those college kids were not accepting enough of the girl who had sex with a fat stranger on film for money, and they need to change.

Del…very sad. I dont believe feminists care about what women want to be. Wanna be a porn star or twerk? Go ahead. As Cher sang This Is A Womans World. In what way?
