I like No. 2. I was amazed (and not in a good way) that he would get on television and said this. Come on, Obama, you’re leader of the free world. Start acting like it.
I’m voting for #3 this week.
Meant to say #2.
It seems like Obama scandals and goof-ups come so fast that the main-stream media has no time to delve into any depth.
Of course, they are also distracted by squirrels.
I voted #5. Using the IRS to persecute citizens and groups opposed to Obama’s agenda is tyranny. The news media’s failure to pursue this unconscionable.
Del, what do you expect from the MSM? They never vetted Obama properly and basically they function as his public relations arm
I find the whole Michael Brown situation to be sad – the rush to judgment, the looting, the police reaction and foul-ups – and all the stats afterwards – the number of people killed by cops, and cops killed in this nation compared to other countries. What a waste.
The Obama critiques are typically laughable. If he has a plan, people yell that he hasn’t worked with congress, or that they disagree, or that he’s rushing into situations.
I truly believe there was a certain group of people who could never find anything right with George Bush, no matter what he did, and we’ve got those same, like minded people with Obama. And we’ll have those same people with Hillary. It goes on and on – just worse with the internet.
The Obama-critiques are all centered on just two issues:
1) Obama is not doing what most Americans want him to do.
2) Obama has abused his power as President (IRS persecution, over-reaching executive mandates) or shirked his duties as President (failing to lead and preserve peace, or control the extreme terrorists, and too much vacation and golfing).
But that’s the rest of the world…. We are focused on frustrating his singular devotion to the abortion industry.
It is surprising how successful we have been.
Del
Obama isn’t doing what Fox news and the lemmings that watch – what they want him to do. His approval rating, which low, is still 2 to 4 times that of congress.
People who complain that he’s been overreaching power are either playing petty games, or haven’t followed politics long. I think you’re too smart to fall into the trap of thinking Obama is doing anything that hasn’t been done before. I hope you are too smart.
Abortion – barely an issue at the federal level.
I had to google-up on the Warren Buffet/Burger King issue. It appears that Burger King is looking to purchase Tim Hortons (a Canadian donut shop), a move that would allow the merged company to choose its new corporate headquarters. The deal is openly driven by the effort to enjoy lower tax rates.
Forbes Magazine:
“President Barack Obama has denounced inversion deals, calling for “economic patriotism” and saying that companies that do enter into such transactions are “corporate deserters.” It will be interesting to see how Obama reacts to Buffett’s involvement with the Burger King deal. The White House declined to comment on the deal on Monday before Buffett’s involvement became public. Over the years, Buffett has been a vocal advocate for Obama, particularly backing Obama’s effort to increase taxes on the rich and close tax loopholes.”

My accounting analysis: Buffet is not being inconsistent. He is seeking higher returns for the investors of his Berkshire Hathaway holding company. All those IRA, 401(k) and pension fund savers expect him to do so.
Buffet does not expect corporations (including his) to pay more taxes. Corporate investors are mostly you and me and anyone with some retirement savings. Buffet does not want to see us responsible middle-classers paying more tax.
Buffet expects very rich persons, business owners, investors, Hollywood-types, sports stars, etc. to pay more personal taxes. Cece Richards gets $600,000 per year, just for her part-time job as Top Face of Planned Parenthood. She could give another 5% to help our government programs out. That’s just $30,000.
But a young guy who makes less than $30,000 per year, yet he still puts 5% of his paycheck into his company 401(k)…. A tax on Burger King is a tax on his responsible saving into a retirement fund. Buffet knows this.
Wow ex-GOP, you must have drank gallons of that Kool-aid. Can Messiah do no wrong?
Hi phillymiss,
As I pointed out previously, EGV is a loyal apologist for his beloved fuehrer.
On this site – yes, because it is filled with Fox News conservatives.
In general, I could name all sorts of things I don’t like about Obama’s policies.
But on this site, you folks need some balance.
Burger King and Tim Horton’s: the corporate tax rates in the US are high (the highest in developed countries?)
It’s not like corporations “pay taxes” in a vacuum. Taxes are a cost of business like many things are, and they get passed on to the corporation’s customers.
February, 2012, President Obama proposed lowering the federal corporate tax rate to 25% for manufacturing companies and to 28% for other firms. I guess Congress never agreed….
It’s still 35%, and adding in state and local taxes, it’s almost 40% overall. In Canada, the federal rate is 15%, and with varying provincial rates it ends up averaging about 26% overall.
Michael Brown and due process – is it not true that he charged at the officer?
