(Not so) Pro-life video of the day: I had an abortion. So what?
by Hans Johnson
Sam Jones says about abortion that “this isn’t really a big deal.” What do you say?

Why do they try so hard to get the approval of others? I’ve done things others might disagree with but I don’t feel the need to rant on video or try and force others to agree with what I’ve done. I think their guilty conscience can’t be quieted and so they rant and rave about why they aborted and how normal it is and how much they don’t care.
I’m a post-abortive father, so when I watch these kinds of videos I do feel sorry for the people who say things like she said. She felt guilty for having an abortion and then as time went on she had a choice about how to deal with what she had done. She could own up to the mistake and then pursue a path of seeking healing and forgiveness, or instead she could do what she did: embrace a world view (“floating around on this marble”) where she wouldn’t have to take responsibility for her mistake and could rationalize it away, and even go further and make it seem like it was the “right” thing to do for both her and her child. Interesting how she used the word “sin” several times, but I wonder is she really knows what sin is. There are so many post-abortive men and women who go down this path. Please pray for them.
I think I will do a video rant:
IT’S NOT A SIN TO HAVE A COLONOSCOPY!!!!!!!!!!!
Brett, prayers and continued healing for you and the baby’s mom.
I never have the desire to defend something that I’m absolutely sure is good or worthwhile or, as she puts it, “no big deal.” But If I did pay someone to stop my child’s heart from beating, I might need you to listen, to my sorrow or my defense. But upon hearing it, you can never remain neutral. Because stopping human hearts is a REALLY BIG DEAL.
MURDER is not a sin ?
Hmmm…well..somebody should tell God He’s WRONG, then.
I wouldn’t want to be the one to display that kind of arrogance !
IT’S NOT A SIN TO HAVE A COLONOSCOPY!!!!!!!!!!! – oh I know that Mary. It’s a valuable medical procedure, just like abortion.
Is everyone familiar with GK Chesterton’s novel Manalive?
The hero of the story is a enormous and light-hearted man named Innocent Smith.
Whenever Innocent Smith encounters someone who says that life doesn’t matter (that we are all just blobs of cells crawling like microbes on a big, wet marble), he draws out a gun, points it at the face of the pessimist, and asks if it truly doesn’t matter “in the grand scheme of things” whether one person lives or dies.
He never has to shoot anyone, because the pessimist always seems to choose life when the choice is put so clearly.
The first thing Sam Jones says is that they showed them how to put a condom on a cucumber and that she did not listen. Is that what passes for sex education now days? Shouldn’t her pregnancy be attributable to condom failure because she did not listen and use one? Is her sex educator owning up to this failure to prevent a teenage pregnancy? If this was abstinence education scenario, you know every PP sex educator and supporter would be pointing at that and saying abstinence does not work, we need to be distributing more condoms, and showing kids how to use them.
Ms. Jones, I can guarantee you that if you brought a baby into this world, he or she would be cared for by someone. Even if the supply of would be adoptive parents was completely exhausted, I would personally raise your child.
Might as well say …I KILLED SOMEONE…big deal!
I had breast implant surgery in 98. Should I do a video rant? Who would care? Reality abortion is an elective procedure like plastic surgery. Neither is healthcare. A colonoscopy is healthcare. Colon cancer killed my father and Im sad to say that my friends grandaughters husband is passing away at 30 from colon cancer. After chemo hes losing his battle. I dont know of a woman who would die without an abortion.
Reality,
Well then, why is it necessary to tell everyone abortion isn’t a sin? Why even tell people you had one?
I thought this was very personal and private.
Right Mary…either its a private matter between a woman and her doctor or just tell the world and expect negative feedback! They want their cake and eat it too! Then they get mad and scream “Dont judge me”!! Well then shut up!
Hi heather,
Good points. Let’s all create video rants about our cosmetic procedures. Who cares? Exactly.
So why do these people feel so compelled to make videos and whine to millions of strangers on the internet about their abortions? Do they think they are really that fascinating?
What really gets me is when they whine about the negative feedback. Well, when you tell millions of strangers your business, you might get negative feedback. The solution? Shut up.
Agreed Mary! Heck I dont think much about my cosmetic surgery because it was so long ago. If women want to know what the surgery was like I tell them…mine was painful because my doctor went under my muscles. I dont have anything against women who want a nip or tuck although some women look worse afterwards imo. Many ppl may be anti cosmetic surgery. Thats fine! Im not offended. However why is it when women talk about their abortions they expect nothing but positive feedback and understanding. If you dont tell them what they want to hear you are not a compassionate human being. You are a terrible person. WHATEVER!
Its apparent that these women have never heard the expression …we will just have to agree to disagree. I dont ever get upset if a woman or man say they would never have a cosmedic procedure. Why on earth would I? Its not their cup of tea. Abortion isnt my cup of tea.
Interestingly enough, this video currently has 6 likes and 16 dislikes. That’s right, there’s actually 6 people who liked this crap.
Hi JDC,
Obviously there are people with too much spare time and nothing worthwhile to concern themselves with.
Well, I had lipo awhile ago, but unfortunately the fat is back!
Phillymiss that happened to a friend of mine. She wants more lipo in January. @ JDC how much would you like to bet the 6 likes were from post abortive women?
After her mother smacked her, she took her to have an abortion.
Imagine that. Abusive people coerce females weaker than themselves to abort.
I pray this young woman finds Forgiveness and the Truth and I hope her career isn’t in hairdressing.
“@ JDC how much would you like to bet the 6 likes were from post abortive women?”
Hmm, I’m not sure. Some of them could have been from pathetic bro-choice men.
“Well then, why is it necessary to tell everyone abortion isn’t a sin?” – because there are those who keep claiming it is, so people need to be told the truth.
“Why even tell people you had one?” – given how many anti-choicers loiter outside clinics they don’t always need to be told. Some people will tell others they’ve had one to reassure those making a choice that it is not sinful, harmful or damaging.
“I thought this was very personal and private” – then what are anti-choicers up to? And why? Obviously there are people with too much spare time and nothing worthwhile to concern themselves with.
What makes Sam Jones the great arbitrator of what is or isn’t sinful? Are we supposed to believe her just because she says so. By what authority is she making this judgment? I suspect she is a relativist.
Reality,
People need to be told the truth. Who’s truth?
Given anti choicers who lurk outside clinics? Oh please Reality. I’m talking about people who go on the internet. People who make youtube videos. People who want the world to know. If a woman wants reassurance, she’ll likely prefer to discuss this privately. Why do people like Sam Jones think the entire world wants to know about her abortion?
What are anti choicers up to? Not the point Reality. The argument has been that abortion is personal and private. OK, so why are these women literally telling the world?
THE truth Mary. There’s actually no such thing as ‘sin’. There are things that some or most of us deem ‘good’ and some ‘bad’.
Fair enough, there are those who are happy to let the world know they’ve had an abortion. A woman who wishes to keep her choice private can also take reassurance from the words of those who share their experience.
Yes it is the point. There is a need to counter what anti-choicers claim.
Reality,
THE truth. Who defines this? You?
What anti choicers claim? Why is there any need to counter us? If PA people are so comfortable with what they believe and have done, who cares what we think?
It defines itself. Then people attempt to twist and purloin it for their own purposes, usually as a means of controlling others.
You need to be countered because those needing to make a choice for themselves need to be accurately informed.
No Reality,
You said The Truth. Kindly define for us exactly what the truth is and who defines it.
Reality, abortion has been legal over 40 years. Just how ignorant can people be? Also, hasn’t PP been doing their job?
It’s not up to me to define it, that’s what people like yourself like to think they can do. It defines itself, some of you just refuse to accept so it gets twisted, misrepresented and overlaid with belief systems.
“Reality, abortion has been legal over 40 years” – and you’ll cease trying to change that when?
“Just how ignorant can people be?” – very, obviously.
“Also, hasn’t PP been doing their job?” – yes, so why do you wish to stop them doing so?
Reality,
So you acknowledge that while you speak of The Truth, you can’t tell us what it is or who defines it.
Abortion has been legal over 40 years and people are still ignorant on the subject? Please explain. Also, it doesn’t seem PP has been doing its job if people are as ignorant as you claim.
The truth is obviously that which exists before people add their wishes, desires, beliefs etc. to it. I did say ‘who’ defines it.
“Abortion has been legal over 40 years and people are still ignorant on the subject? Please explain.” – certainly. How many of the bogus claims anti-choicers make about abortion and its impacts do we need to list? Perhaps if it weren’t so the ignorance would be extinguished.
“Also, it doesn’t seem PP has been doing its job if people are as ignorant as you claim” – they do the best they can to counter the propaganda and misinformation peddled by their opponents.
Reality,
OK, so tell us what existed before people added their wishes, desires, beliefs, etc. to truth. Who defines truth?
What difference does it make what PL people say? THE truth is out there, right?
Well we PP opponents don’t have millions in taxpayer funds to help us like PP does and they still can’t do the job?
“Who defines truth?” – I’ve already answered this, twice.
“What difference does it make what PL people say? THE truth is out there, right?” – indeed it is. Yet so much effort is devoted to denying it, hiding it, distorting it and misrepresenting it. Some people can be misled.
“Well we PP opponents don’t have millions in taxpayer funds to help us like PP does and they still can’t do the job?” – the level of resourcing the anti-choice movement commits probably dwarfs that available to PP. Like I said, they do the best they can to counter the propaganda and misinformation peddled by their opponents.
Reality,
So refresh my memory. Who defines truth?
Some people can be misled. Well isn’t PP utilizing the millions it receives in taxpayer funds properly? Also, with
THE truth being out there, this shouldn’t be a problem.
The level of resourcing the anti-choice movement commits probably dwarfs that available to PP. Really? Please elaborate. Any sources on our resources and how we “dwarf” PP?
PP does the best they can to counter us? But THE truth is on their side, along with taxpayer millions. So what’s their problem?
Do some revising, that ought to refresh your memory.
“Well isn’t PP utilizing the millions it receives in taxpayer funds properly? Also, with THE truth being out there, this shouldn’t be a problem” – so you didn’t read what I wrote. And I thought you’d be pleased to hear how effective the campaigning you are a part of can be.
Do you understand the difference between ‘resources’ and ‘money’?
“PP does the best they can to counter us? But THE truth is on their side, along with taxpayer millions. So what’s their problem?” – the sheer volume and extent of the misinformation delivered by anti-choicers. How many of you support PP assisting in the development of sex-ed curricula?
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” “What is truth?” retorted Pilate. John 18:37-38
The truth of abortion is in un-doctored photographs of its victims. Oh, how I wish that those who parade with signs of “Abortion on Demand, Without Apology” have the courage to show pictures of abortion victims at all stages of gestation in place of the word abortion with the caption “on demand and without apology”. It would then be an honest demonstration.
Reality….or Tenn…whatever name youre using…please provide sources and facts or I must conclude this is just pure gossip on your part. Also Mary spoke earlier about people having too much time on their hands. Yeah reality is here day after day with nothing to do but try to argue how abortion is safe healthcare. There was just another death at Preterm in April of 2014. Do you know what went wrong? Maybe you should research it. Preterm Cleveland Ohio. Get a life and a real case before you debate. would ya???
Then reality does double speak posting under the screen name Tenn and asks me “What does Jesus think of gossip”??? Youve said it many times. There is no God. So what kind of a boring life must you have to troll a PL website every day? Half the ppl here dont even read what you write. Why? Because you ramble on about NOTHING but your own opinion. And now its too funny that Ex Gop thought hed made a new friend. Nah it was just reality playing games. Why dont you go help the Choice crowd with protesting? Seriously why are you here?
Reality,
Obviously you can’t tell me who or what THE truth is.
Also, considering THE truth is on your side, your side is sure having one very difficult time getting it across to people.
Mary not to mention he demands sources yet never finds them to his liking and dismisses them but he never provides sources. Lol
Reality: THE truth Mary. There’s actually no such thing as ‘sin’. There are things that some or most of us deem ‘good’ and some ‘bad’.
Correct. There is external physical reality, i.e. it doesn’t matter what we think of it, and then there are concepts of thought, where they are defined by the opinions and desires of conscious beings.
Prax lol at the end of your commentt!:)
“Obviously you can’t tell me who or what THE truth is.” – obviously you haven’t been reading.
“Also, considering THE truth is on your side, your side is sure having one very difficult time getting it across to people.” – as I have stated more than once, that is because there are so many people spreading misinformation in their attempts to control the lives of others.
I wouldn’t know if I would like your sources or not heather, you’ve never provided any. Mods can tell you if Tenn and I are one or not.
heather you’ll be happy to know I’ve started researching for a book. It will be a collection of abbreviated bio’s on a few leading lights of the anti-choice movement. Oh sure, some people will probably attempt to portray some of what will be written as nothing more than scurrilous gossip. But then it will be published and that’ll prove it’s all true, won’t it now.
LOL Reality,
So this is THE truth? “There is actually no such thing as “sin”. “There are things that some or most of us deem “good” and others “bad”. You mean like the ISIS murderers?
Oh yes, all those people spreading “misinformation”. Well that certainly explains why an organization receiving millions in taxpayer dollars, with THE truth on its side no less, just can’t seem to be heard.
Correct, correct and correct again.
Ah, still unable to distinguish between ‘resources’ and ‘money’ eh, pity. What is it about distinct descriptors that you struggle so.
Reality,
So you think the ISIS murderers and rapists are not guilty of any wrong doing? You would have no objection to their making the neither right or wrong decision to slice off your head?
Get real Reality, money buys lots of resources. It also buys media. It also buys PR. It also buys advertising. I can remember when former PP president Fay Wattleton was a sought after media darling. And PP still had problems getting their message across? Maybe its the message.
“So you think the ISIS murderers and rapists are not guilty of any wrong doing?” – why would you ask that? You said ““There are things that some or most of us deem “good” and others “bad”. You mean like the ISIS murderers?”, to which I replied “correct”. I do wonder about you sometimes.
“money buys lots of resources” – that’s a bit of a lazy generalization. A certain amount of money will buy a certain amount of resources. A little won’t buy a lot. The problem isn’t with PP’s message, it’s with the vast amount of misinformation spread by the anti-choice movement and those in politics and the media who are fearful of them.
Reality,
Well you said there are things some deem good and some deem bad. So if ISIS views what they do as good should they be punished, just because you think it is bad? Who are you to say what they are doing isn’t good?
I wonder about you. Is there a reason you failed to answer my question about an ISIS member making the neither right or wrong decision to slice off YOUR head?
Hardly a lazy generalization and more a fact. A lot of money will buy a lot of resources and when you have millions in tax payer dollars, you can do a lot of shopping.
But thank you for giving the PL movement the credit you do. Obviously what we are telling the public is not perceived by them, as it is by you, to be misinformation.
“Well you said there are things some deem good and some deem bad.” – I did.
“So if ISIS views what they do as good should they be punished, just because you think it is bad?” – I don’t have any say in the matter. I think they will get their just desserts, one way or another.
“Who are you to say what they are doing isn’t good?” – I didn’t say one way or another now did I.
“I wonder about you” – I’m sure you’ll catch up one day, maybe.
“Is there a reason you failed to answer my question about an ISIS member making the neither right or wrong decision to slice off YOUR head?” – not really, I just thought it a bit silly. Even if I were what could be considered a ‘bad’ person I would most likely object. Do you get the concept of self-preservation?
“Hardly a lazy generalization and more a fact.” – not at all, have you re-read what you said?
“A lot of money will buy a lot of resources” – now you’re getting it.
“and when you have millions in tax payer dollars, you can do a lot of shopping” – ah, not quite yet I see. Quantify ‘a lot’. You can do a certain amount of shopping.
“But thank you for giving the PL movement the credit you do” – credit for being effective. It’s how the best theocracies come about don’t you know :-)
“Obviously what we are telling the public is not perceived by them, as it is by you, to be misinformation’ – well some of them anyway. Smacks of ‘1984’ doesn’t it.
She’s blaming who for what?
Well Reality,
I looked up a definition of “sin” and apparently there is one other than the biblical.
According to Dictionary.com one definition is: any reprehensible or regrettable action, behavior lapse, etc., great fault or offense.
So you believe in THE truth, which says there is no such thing as sin. So you would argue that the actions of ISIS do not fall under the definition of sin? Also, you do not believe any actions fall under the above definition?
PL people are responsible for an impending theocracy? Now you’re really going off the deep end.
One, wow. Yes, the word ‘sin’ has slipped into being a bit of a colloquialism. The formal definition of sin however, was born of religion.
There are numerous other appropriate and meaningful terms which are probably even more accurately descriptive of ISIS’s behavior.
“PL people are responsible for an impending theocracy?” – no, that’s not what I said. I was comparing tactics. Some PL folk may well also be of the mindset who would just love to see a christian theocratic state. But it won’t happen.
Well Reality,
You made no distinction. You said there is no such thing as sin, so there is no such thing as any reprehensible behavior. You say any number of other appropriate and meaningful terms describe ISIS. Is “reprehensible” or “offense” among them?
Some PL folk may also be of the mindset? Please give specifics.
How on earth do you come to the conclusion that the fact that there is really no such thing as ‘sin’ means there is no reprehensible behavior. Good grief!
I find ISIS’s behavior reprehensible, horrific and many other things.
You are as aware as I am that some PL folk also have such a religious bent that they want prayer in schools and other public and government activities, the teaching of creationism, the total banning of contraception and a number of other items. You have seen some ascribe to these desires here.
Uh no Reality,
I came to no conclusion. YOU said there is no such thing as sin. Sin can be defined as reprehensible behavior.
So you find ISIS’ behavior sinful. I thought sin didn’t exist.
PL people want all this? Goodness. Tell me where they have forced prayer or banned contraception.
Oh yes you did. You claimed that I had said that the fact there is no such thing as ‘sin’ meant I was also saying that there is no such thing as reprehensible behavior. That’s a very poor conclusion for you to have drawn. Reprehensible behavior can exist without any need for the term ‘sin’ to be applied. Goodness me!
How can I find their behavior sinful when ‘sin’ does not exist. You have made a false conclusion.
This appears to be yet another instance where you are unable to distinguish between two distinct concepts.
“PL people want all this?” – some do, as you well know.
“Goodness” – not the term I’d use for it.
“Tell me where they have forced prayer or banned contraception” – tell me where I said they had. I said that they *want* prayer in schools and other public and government activities (mind you, some have had to be advised of the law or even dragged into court), the teaching of creationism (TBOE springs to mind), the total banning of contraception and a number of other items. I also said some would *love* to see a christian theocratic state. But I also said it won’t happen.
LOL,
Reality, you should do a little googling before you proclaim any kind of “truth”. I said that since sin is defined as reprehensible behavior, and you agree that ISIS is reprehensible, then you would agree ISIS is sinful. You see, I always associated sin with biblical concepts as well but apparently that isn’t always the case.
So you agree then that though some people may want to force prayer and ban contraception, there’s really no way it is possible for them to do so. People want to do a lot of things, ain’t gonna happen.
LOLLER,
you should google a little harder. One, just one, of the many descriptions of ‘sin’ is indeed ‘reprehensible behavior’. But the definition of ‘reprehensible behavior’ is not restricted to ‘sin’. They are not one and the same.
reprehensible behavior =/= sin
“You see, I always associated sin with biblical concepts as well but apparently that isn’t always the case” – indeed, as I said, it has slipped into being a bit of a colloquialism.
“So you agree then that though some people may want to force prayer and ban contraception, there’s really no way it is possible for them to do so” – I didn’t say it isn’t possible, I said it ain’t gonna happen, no more than the ending of abortion will happen. But it needs to be vigilantly resisted. So you’ll join me in maintaining the primacy of reason?.
Now you’ll excuse me, I have a flight to catch. Family to visit :-)
Oh I saw various definitions. But since you didn’t specify which definition you were referring to when you enlightened us with THE truth, its a matter of interpretation as to exactly what you meant.
Well if it ain’t gonna happen then there’s nothing to worry about, right?
BTW, have a safe and enjoyable trip, as well as visit with your family.
