Obama has been MIA for all of his presidency. If it wasn’t about protecting Planned Parenthood’s funding or getting re-elected, then Obama had no interest in the matter.
Even his “signature” healthcare insurance plan got neglected, except for the parts that advanced contraception/abortion/Planned Parenthood and served his re-election machine. (Contrast how much Obama’s campaign stressed the “war on women,” v. how little was done to prepare for and repair the the ACA’s roll-out.)
We think Obama is MIA at our own risk. His actions are calculated and deliberate. Do not underestimate this man or what he is very capable of doing. Ebola crossing our borders is no accident.
I didn’t vote for Obama but like most Americans I did want him to succeed. I remember in 2008 people were literally dancing in the streets when he won. That seems light years ago.
Yes Phillymiss it does seem like light years ago with now only a glimmer of light left at the end of a tunnel. Do not let that light get even smaller. Remember in November!

The boRATs response to ‘ebola’ is an inverted form of ‘Fast and Furious’ .
These cartoons get weaker and less based on truthful premises every week. Talk about struggle, it’s almost becoming funny in itself.

I liked Bush. He was much less expensive than Obama, and far more decisive.
In know the media constantly reported that Bush was unpopular, especially leading into the mid-term elections of his second term. But even then, about 45% of Americans approved of Bush’s work.
At this same point in Obama’s term, only 45% support him as well. It’s hard to imagine that Obama is really much better or worse than Bush by any objective measure.
For anyone concerned about LIFE, liberty, and the future of our culture, there is no contest. We can’t get rid of Obama fast enough, and it is frightening to contemplate what could be worse.

I fail to see any effort on his part to stop this, that is why I conclude its no accident. Obama doesn’t have to cause it, he can just continue to sit on his hands.
This is what happens when you elect a symbol rather than a real leader.
He is just so incredibly unprepared. He lives in a world where words should be able to fix things. There are still a few who will defend him, but every day, there are fewer.

I’m not convinced he is unprepared, just passively allowing this virus to take hold. Unless someone can point out to me otherwise, I will remain convinced. He sends our military to Africa to “fight” this virus and appoints a “czar” with no medical background or expertise in infectious diseases. Only in Obamaland.

“Gunwalking”, or “letting guns walk”, was a tactic of the Arizona Field Office of the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), which ran a series of sting operations between 2006 and 2011 in the Tucson and Phoenix area where the ATF “purposely allowed licensed firearms dealers to sell weapons to illegal straw buyers, hoping to track the guns to Mexican drug cartel leaders and arrest them.”

The stated goal of allowing these purchases was to continue to track the firearms as they were transferred to higher-level traffickers and key figures in Mexican cartels, with the expectation that this would lead to their arrests and the dismantling of the cartels. The tactic was questioned during the operations by a number of people, including ATF field agents and cooperating licensed gun dealers. A number of straw purchasers have been arrested and indicted; however, as of October 2011, none of the targeted high-level cartel figures had been arrested.

Guns tracked by the ATF have been found at crime scenes on both sides of the Mexico–United States border, and the scene where United States Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed December 2010. The “gunwalking” operations became public in the aftermath of Terry’s murder. Dissenting ATF agents came forward to Congress in response. According to Humberto Benítez Treviño, former Mexican Attorney General related firearms have been found at numerous crime scenes in Mexico where at least 150 Mexican civilians were maimed or killed.

The request for proposals says the agency will need a minimum of four million cards per year. In the “surge,” scenario in 2016, the agency would need an additional five million cards – more than double the baseline annual amount for a total of 9 million.

So tell me, what did I not include?
I have a couple of points on the Ebola subject…
Although I live in Canada, much of the actions taken by the Canadian government are the same or similar to the American government. And I say government and not leader for reason. The leader of the country is NOT a medical professional in any way. and must therefore use the advice given to him by others in the government, hopefully those with a medical background.
I have watched the news from the states, and read a lot about the actions taken in Canada as I do work at a large hospital near Toronto. I feel I can safely make some conclusions in the Ebola so-called “outbreak” in all North America.
1. There is no outbreak in North America! There has been a tiny number of isolated cases. And with one exception, all have been isolated without transmission.
2. The transmission of Ebola that did occur in Texas had to do with improper PPE (personal protective equipment), and the proper removal of PPE.
3. The reason the boarders of both countries have not been closed to countries with an outbreak has been explained by medical professionals. As I have gone through EXTENSIVE training and re-training on PPE in my hospital because of the nurse in Texas, I can only assume it is also happening in the rest of the continent. Ebola is difficult to spread in a modern culture with remarkable health care. For an outbreak to occur on this continent, there would have to be a massive amount of people coming in contact with bodily fluid of an infected person, and then not seeking medical attention with the symptoms that present.

Ebola hasn’t even killed (and it’s not capable of killing, really, study the disease a bit, it’s virulent but difficult to spread, not a prime candidate for pandemics) a miniscule fraction of the amount of people the flu kills every year, or malaria, or multiple other diseases that should be cause for alarm. I don’t understand why Ebola is the one getting the attention. More people die every TWO DAYS from malaria in the world than have EVER died from Ebola. I really don’t understand why everyone is freaking out, you are much more likely to die this year from the flu.

Ebola does have a foothold in this country and now is the time to stop it. Some basic common sense measures may be all that is necessary. They have worked for Senegal and Nigeria.
I understand Duncan came to this country knowing he was ill to seek help. We can all sympathize with the man wanting to save his life but he put the lives of others in danger. How many other people will do the same?
I have seen the suggestion that visitors from the affected countries have a 21 day quarantine/observation before being allowed to fly. Sounds very inconvenient but reasonable.

I don’t know if you remember the AIDS outbreak of the early 80s. Though one could get this disease only by having sex, a needle stick, or a blood transfusion, it could also be passed on during pregnancy, there were still demands for gov’t action and Reagan certainly got his share of criticism.
