Pro-lifer kidnaps a pregnant woman in abortion play
Keely is a pregnant woman, kidnapped outside an abortion clinic and secreted away to a place where she is to be a prisoner until her unwanted child is born.
Du is the nurse who watches over Keely — for a number of reasons that become more disturbingly clear as time goes on.
~ Tulsa World, announcing the performance of the abortion play Keely and Du at the Tulsa Community College Theatre Department, April 5
Note: This “abortion battle” play has been circulating since the early 1990’s. Read a 1994 review from the New York Times here.

Well, I would rather see a play prompt a conversation than the false “news” stories. I keep reading comments about fake stories to the effect of, “It may be untrue but…”
Sounds dreadful.
I know Tulsa is a big city, but do you think anyone will pay to see this?
“I know Tulsa is a big city, but do you think anyone will pay to see this?”
Probably, there’s a few weirdos in every city.
Well…they let satanists hold a ” Black Mass” right here in Oklahoma City, and we’re not as big as Tulsa…so, I don’t doubt anything these days.
I see that they’ve called her baby a “child” rather than a fetus. I’m surprised. I would have thought that would rather hurt their message: “Keely is a pregnant woman, kidnapped and held hostage to prevent her from killing her own child.” Rather puts a different spin on it, doesn’t it?
I also notice from the website that Keely is supposed to be pregnant from rape. Will the play be commenting at all on the state of our society, which gives the death penalty to the innocent children conceived in rape? Or the culture that stigmatises them as “rape babies”? Or which uses a woman’s decision to give birth to her child as an argument against her (“Well, if it was REALLY rape, you wouldn’t want to keep that baby”)?
It never ceases to amaze me how pro-lifers are portrayed as such awful people in some media. Pretty sure 99% of pro-life people would never dream of kidnapping and imprisoning a woman going for an abortion. That being said I find the concept interesting in a horror movie/social issue kind of way.
“Well…they let satanists hold a ” Black Mass” right here in Oklahoma City, and we’re not as big as Tulsa…so, I don’t doubt anything these days.”
So you think Satanism followers don’t have freedom of religion and should be banned from practice out what? Don’t really get your complaint.
Complaint ? It wasn’t a complaint. I was making a point. Del asked “Do you think anyone would pay to see this ?” My point is pretty much the same as JDC’s ” there’s a few weirdos in every city”.
I used that as an example, because most people think ‘satan worship’ is abhorrent , just as (most) would probably think this play is . (here in Oklahoma, anyway)
Why are you trying to make it about “religion” ?
I’m not.
Ah, I misunderstood you then.
Satanism doesn’t worship the Christian Satan in general btw. They basically worship themselves and hedonism in a way. But it’s pretty off topic, so I’ll leave it there, I just find it interesting..
LOL
Like all abortion propaganda, it is pure fiction.
Hey, Tulsa Community College, how about a play about a true story in which a young girl is forced to get an abortion. There are plenty of those stories.
These nuts always get themselves hyped on their own fictions, while ignoring the real suffering of women, girls and babies.
We live in an age of endless propaganda.
Does anyone else here notice that it all comes from the top down? This is not the work of oppressed people. It is the work of the oppressors.
Abortion is oppression
