Seinfeld on new fatherhood initiative: “Being there” matters
by Carder
It’s such a gigantic piece of life for the man, and even more so for the child, because the lack of a father in the child’s life is a very big factor in perpetuating the poverty cycle….
Fathers always think, ‘Well I have to know a lot,’ and what they have to know is that the biggest part of it is being there.
~ Comedian and actor Jerry Seinfeld (pictured with actress Gwyneth Paltrow), who “helped spearhead the Baby Buggy Fatherhood Initiative to provide resources to new fathers and to encourage their continued participation in their children’s lives,” People, June 21
From the link:
“Since 2010 Baby Buggy has provided fathers who participate in our partner fatherhood programs in New York and Los Angeles with donations of clothing and goods that they need to keep their children safe and healthy. In addition, we bring in partners to run financial literacy workshops to teach the dads strategies for budgeting, debt reduction, and saving. To acknowledge the achievements of these dads and to encourage their continued active involvement in the lives of their children, we also include them in Baby Buggy events and provide them with small gifts upon “graduation” from their programs.
Baby Buggy sounds exactly like what a Pregnancy Resource Center does for moms and couples who choose life. Material support, training in life skills and parenting, ongoing assistance.
I hope that Planned Parenthood and NARAL do not turn on their celebrity friends for this.

Great news. Boys and girls need regular involvement of their fathers for healthy attitudes toward sexuality, and ultimately, fewer unintended pregnancies and fewer abortions. However, discussion of this is sorely lacking, even in churches and the pro-life community lest we sound as if we want to shame a mother for single motherhood or for divorce.

Thank goodness for the wonderful folks who step up to the plate to offer some stability to those children whose biological parent(s) choose to be inconsistently, chaotically and abusively involved even after being encouraged time and time again.
Thank you to all loving step-parents, God-parents, grandparents, relatives, neighbors, teachers, coaches, community and religious leaders and staff. You make all the difference.

It’s hard to stomach folks who claim to understand the importance of a father’s involvement but in the next breath support legalized child killing.
“Hey New Daddy! We encourage you to become involved with the child that you wanted his mommy to kill!”

I hope that Planned Parenthood and NARAL do not turn on their celebrity friends for this. – no reason to.
“Hey New Daddy! We encourage you to become involved with the child that you wanted his mommy to kill!” – talk about overreach.
