Stanek weekend video: Fair Lady wows talent show
by Hans Johnson
One of the most popular contestants on New Zealand’s Got Talent 2012 was 91-year-old great-grandmother Olivia Turner. She sang on radio during World War 2, and returned to singing decades later. Having lost her Christchurch home during the 2011 earthquake, she felt spurred on to try out for the show. This was her audition:

She made it to the semi-final, and then became the oldest contestant to make the finals in any of the many “Got Talent” shows worldwide.
She placed eighth of twelve. Fifteen-year-old Clara Van Wel won.

Love! Forwarded to all the Kiwis in my life. Thanks, Hans.
Thanks, Hans! Another excellent video.
Thanks, Jill. I thought the NZ connection would be an added bonus to us here. I hope I can even carry a tune when I’m 91!
A 1,000 encores for this class-act! LL :D
Cool!
I adore that song, and the movie too! My dad used to sing showtunes and dance me around the house…and now I do it with my 1-year-old daughter!
