Weekend question 4/10-11/10
We know damage has been done, but we still do not yet comprehend the magnitude of the 11th hour betrayal of preborn babies by a group led by House Democrat pro-life caucus co-chair Bart Stupak.
The consequences have only just begun to unfold, as I described in a post yesterday. The extent of the harm will not be fully realized for years, if not decades.
There are many tentacles.
I’m not just talking about taxpayer funding of abortion in healthcare. As for me, my rising hope of building bilateral political support against abortion has been dashed. As long as the power brokers in the Democrat Party are pro-abortion, pro-aborts will get their way. Insurrections by pro-lifers will be squelched by “having both of their arms twisted,” as Stupak prophetically described about himself.
But our weekend question goes the opposite direction. Genesis 50:20 states, “Even though you planned evil against me, God planned good to come out of it. This was to keep many people alive, as he is doing now.”
What possible good can you see coming from this mess?

First of all… I love it that you are using the term preborn which is more accurate and I regretfully agree with you that being a pro life Democrat no longer seems possible. If they support the leader who is pro abortion like Pelosi they have already compromised with death.
What good? There is more talk and attention to the life issues than ever before. For instance I heard on the news last night that two years after Roe VS Wade there was a Supreme Court nomination and the word abortion was not spoken but it has been the center of attention in Supreme Court nomination battles now and has been since the days of Mr. Bork. So the pro lifers keep the discussion going and bringing it out in the open serves to make the rest of the country deal with it and make a decision on where they stand. Some pundits are perplexed that abortion gets so much attention in all these political issues.
It rips open the nasty secret about what is going on. So the good news is the pro life means of exposing this evil is working….no matter which venue you use. And we are winning converts to the cause. Like Abby Johnson and me….and I am sure there are many others and there is nothing like a convert.
All it takes for evil to prosper is for good men to do nothing….pro lifers are doing something everyday.
I’m sure most of the board lemmings will post something about how this will lead to huge gains by the right, which I suppose they will argue will translate into supreme court justices so in 15 or 20 years, maybe abortion rights when change drastically at the federal level…
While I’ll catch flack for this, I truly believe that there was a hypocritical message being sent of demanding that abortion be illegal, yet leaving so many people uninsured. I know I joked about the “pro-birth” stance – but I think there is truth to that, and it isn’t a term I made up. The message was, have your baby – now go on and figure things out for yourself!
I think if we had a question on this board saying “pretend abortion would be legal forever – how would we best reduce abortions” – I think the numbers would point to strengthening the middle and lower class. I think some people get abortions because they are reckless. I think more people get abortions though because they are in dire financial situation. Socioeconomic class is a big factor in the game.
If reform helps bring down the cost of insurance, and provides insurance to more people – then I think it will be a factor for those at the bottom rungs of society. Not having sufficient insurance won’t be an excuse anymore. Hopefully costs of insurance won’t eat up as much of a chunk of middle class income as well either.
Pie in the sky dream? Sure – but the pie in the sky dream for most of the right wingers on this board is that RvWade will simply get flipped, states will start passing laws and the abortion will become illegal all over the country.
We’re both allowed to have our pie in the sky dreams!
Susie – I agree with you. Abortion was a back burner issue in the public eye for a long time. It became front and center during this debate.
You know what, I just experienced first hand what happens when you go to the hospital and your testing costs go over your plan benefits.
Someone from the hospital’s financial assistance office comes up to you bed and looks to see if you qualify for any programs at the state level and if not, if you qualify for for the hospital’s program. If you don’t qualify for either, the hospital will still work with you to come up with a payment plan.
There is a system in place. People aren’t dying on the streets.
Try convincing Grayson of that.

RINO,
When the B.O. moon pie hits between your eyes, and you regain your senses, the first emotion that rises up in you will not be amoré.
But you politically ambidextrous mushy moderates who have some sort of internal obligation to thoughtfully and fully explore an issue before you come to a consensus of ‘no conclusion’, even when the thing being considered is as simple and self evident as 2+2=4, will still have to determine if it is acceptable to hold such a position.
‘right wingers’ do not have to consult a therapyst to get in touch with their feelings after they have acknowledged the truth.
It is so liberating to be able to think and write and speak without having to constantly consult the ever changing code of political correctness or as I have come to recognize it, ‘The new puritanism’.

Complete destruction and dismantling of the Democrat Party for they have finally revealed who they truly are.
I am convinced that we Pro-Lifers will process these sad events much like the election of BO.
Many of you were not as gullible as I was when I overestimated Stupid’s Pro-Life convictions and underestimated his liberal passion for socialized health care. I was deceived by his exemplary, courageous stand for Life, which he maintained in the face of tremendous opposition, month after month after month. The statement which defined him and his stance, “No taxpayer funding for abortions,” was repeated over and over, a rallying cry for those of us in the Pro-Life Army, and a major source of contention for the blood-thirsty, pro-death mob and their crusade to murder as many innocents as demonically possible.
And then he caved.
For me it felt like the Braveheart scene when the Scottish patriot discovered Robert the Bruce had betrayed him and sold out to the oppressive Edward the Longshanks.
However, having gotten over the initial shock, disbelief really, at Stupid’s betrayal, I find myself incensed and even more determined to fight for the protection of vulnerable, innocent children in harm’s way.
I’m sure we’re all a little wiser too.
For true Soldiers in the Pro-Life Army, we don’t have any choice in the matter:
Throughout history, satan has been able to work out his deadly schemes through unwitting depraved men and has murdered innocent children by the untold 100’s of millions. At the dawn of the 21st century, government sanctioned child-killing is executed with chilling efficiency at epic proportions, approximately 42 million a year.
That’s approximately 115,000 children every day, enough to fill over 1500 full-sized school buses…
Every day
We must fight, wage war against and rescue as many mother and child victims of this horrific genocidal atrocity as we possibly can until our own dying breath.
It is our duty.
“I truly believe that there was a hypocritical message being sent of demanding that abortion be illegal, yet leaving so many people uninsured.”
This is an idiotic statement.
There is no hypocrisy in opposing state sanctioned child-killing and state funded child-killing.
And as Lauren suggested above, there is no hypocrisy in the conviction that caring for the sick and the poor would more effectively accomplished by making less radical adjustments to our existing system and utilizing more efficient charitable organizations than creating a huge beaurocracy and growing our corrupt government.
I know you mean well EGV, but you’re deluded.
1. At one point, Obama’s executive order will be overturned by a court. And at that time, a reporter will ask him his opinion of his order being overturned, and he will either defend it or have to admit that it was a joke anyway.
2. Lines were drawn. Lines being drawn are good because a lot of pro-choicers hate being called ‘pro-abortion’. The line that was drawn this past month was between pro-abortion and anti-abortion. You could not stay on the line under the auspice of ‘choice’.
3. Confidence that we still have the winning argument. The only way this passed was through lies, underhanded remarks and back-room deals. The stigma remains, and it always will. NOBODY spoke in favor of taxpayer-funded abortions- they just left it in and ignored our comments -but are still afraid to actually defend their ridiculous position.
Oops, rushing to get at my Saturday chores:
“bureaucracy”
Well, for one thing, the myth of the pro-life Democrat has been fully vetted. As I said yesterday, these stooges may vote our way on future bills far more limited in scope, but that will only be to assuage our anger.
I understand that abortion is not the only issue for many Democrats of good will. But the time has come to confront the searing question long avoided by those who claim that one cannot be a single-issue voter:
Are such persons of good will still willing to sell out the babies so that they may gain, legislatively, more goods and services for themselves and their families?
Such a position betrays a false dichotomy: Abortion in exchange for XYZ.
Good will Democrats can no longer count on their leadership actually practicing the openness, tolerance, and respect long-ballyhooed by their party. Those are mere slogans for advancing a radical anti-life, anti-marriage, anti-Christian agenda.
It isn’t just a single issue. The Democrat Party’s embrace of all things atheistic, agnostic, homosexual, lesbian, antithetical to Christianity, anti-life at the birth end of the spectrum, and pro-suicide and euthanasia at the other end of the spectrum, leaves one with the following question:
Can one be a faithful Christian and vote for candidates who are from a party that opposes that Christianity at every turn?
It is no longer really acceptable to say that MY Democrat candidate is a good guy, if that candidate’s election helps keep the Party in power.
Republicans are only marginally better, but at least have a solid conservative wing. Theirs is the easier problem to fix, by running solid conservatives against the blue-blood leadership in primary elections.
Regardless of party affiliation, we now live in an age where science has revealed, with brutal clarity, the terrible effects of abortion and sexual licentiousness.
We now live in an age where we have all seen these terrible effects in the lives of friends, loved ones, neighbors and coworkers, if not in ourselves.
We now live in an age where the Democrat Party has dropped all pretense and shown us their diabolical agenda.
And finally, we now live in an age where all Christians must confront the two questions that Jesus asked His Apostles:
Who do men say that I am?
Who do YOU say that I am?
The integrity of our answer to those questions will be revealed in the manner in which we vote.
There is a sharpening of life issues going on because of the way abortion was handled in this process. People are thinking more about their personal and collective involvement in abortion.
Thanks to the way the Dem leadership treated the issue, abortion is more synonymous than ever with the denial of freedom, lies, backroom bribes, and bullying tactics. The practice of abortion can’t survive without underhanded defense.
Lauren, you are right there is a whole business system set up to do that. You get a call or visit from someone who explores all programs, federal and state and non profit that might help you out that you never heard of.

He is like a derelict ship, drifting aimlessly without anchor, rudder, compass or sails at the mercy of the shifting winds of political correctness and the ever changing currents of public opinion, oblivious of the hidden reefs of reality.
Give her/him a wide berth or you may become entangled in his/her folly.

It always boils down to Truth vs Evil. I think that the recent turmoil on the political scene has served to wake people up to the fact that Evil is encroaching upon our country. While that may take many forms, the most visible, “in your face” evil is the Topeth. It is the supreme lie that is supported by all the other lies.
Our country was built by men that understood the basic framing of the fight, and knew right from wrong right down to crossing of the “t”s and the dotting of the “i”s. They wrote a wonderful Constitution that embodies the best ideas in Truthful government that have ever been devised. They did that under the understanding that comes from Scripture, and under the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Just as back in the day, Israel used the pounding of drums to hide the abject evil that they allowed to dwell among them, we have been asleep as well.
The question that we have to ask, is if it is too late…
No matter the hour of the day, we must fight. We are called to expose evil (which hates the light), and take back our country. Take the time to wake somebody up. YOU are responsible for those around you with whom you have a relationship. Be it acquaintance or bethrothed, or anywhere in between, the responsibility rests on you. God holds you responsible (While pardoning your sin!).
Complete destruction and dismantling of the Democrat Party for they have finally revealed who they truly are. Posted by: Phil Schembri is HisMan at April 10, 2010 9:17 AM
I respectfully disagree, HisMan. I don’t believe this is Obama’s goal or that the Dem party will cease to exist any time soon. When he was associated with the NP, the goal was to swing the Dem party leftward, not eliminate it. Obama seems to have succeeded in forcing it further left.
I think Dr Nadal is spot-on in his observation that traditional Dems cannnot count on their leadership to advance anything but a more radical progressive platform. The positive I see in this is that more traditionally-minded Dem voters will swing toward the independent voting block instead of blindly supporting Dem candidates.
Purging “prolife” Dems like Stupak from Congress and running more progressive candidates seems to be the Dem leadership strategy. The more they push the Dem party further to the radical left, they more they alienate themselves from average mainstream Americans. And that bodes well for eventually loosening the grip the Dems have on DC.
Lauren/Ed – I love it!
Hey, we don’t need health insurance reform because if you can’t afford it, just tap into some other government program or maybe a charity program and they’ll pay for it! I think you two might be closer to being liberals than you think!
The Heritage foundation pitched the individual mandate years go as a personal responsibility idea. Chuck Grassley and other Republicans have been doing the same in recent years. Now it is an evil thing. I can’t keep up with the party of no. I suppose I just have to see the things they say no to, and figure that one day, it was something they supported.
No, we’re saying that there is already a system in place so there is no need to completely overhall insurance for everyone else.
Carla, I am so sorry about the hateful 7:30PM troll comment. I know you are strong enough to take it. It’s just so sad that the culture of death is filled with such hate.
Lauren –
I think that is a very interesting comment. With the rate of employer covered insurance plummeting – and the rate of uninsured rising – and with the double digit premium increases all over – do you feel that the status quo could be maintained for much longer? Why do we always have to wait for something to break completely before we make changes to the system?
My family saw about a 40% increase over 4 years, all while changing our deductible from $500 a person to $3000 a person. As a middle class family, that’s a big chunk of income each month.
That’s completely uncalled for. Whoever posted it should be ashamed.
Carla:
God is good.
Your baby is in His presence.
You are made whole in Him.
Pray for whoever made that awful comment.
EGV,
You’re clueless.
Don’t worry though, the Democratic Party and your big government will take care of you.
You can trust them to do the right thing.
You will be fine. You will get to keep more of your money, health care costs will go down even as 30,000,000 people will be running to doctors to get their free, government-paid-for health care.
Your big government will take care of you because it can print as much money as you need.
Don’t you worry about a thing.
Hi Carla,
We all love you dearly. When it comes to hateful comments like this always consider the sick source. Then you will appreciate how truly insignificant and unworthy of any response from you that it really is.
Amen HisMan,
satan has deceived each of us into doing or saying things we regret – that’s his job.
But the Precious Blood of Christ washes us clean so that we are white as snow. As far as the East is from the West, He has removed our transgressions from us. He casts our sins into the Sea of Forgetfulness.
He doesn’t remember them and neither should we.
Whenever I experience an attack like that I know that something I’ve recently done has hit a nerve in the kingdom of darkness.
Congratulations Carla! What satan meant for evil, God has turned around for your good. Your labor of love ministering to post-abortive women is blessing and healing them, laying up riches for you in Heaven, and making the devil really mad.
JESUS SAID, “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Mt 5:11–12
Jesus loves you so much precious Carla…
and so do we.
Carla,
The nasty comment from the angry individual is an example that you are touching many lives. You have acknowledged Aubrey’s humanity and it makes others’ uncomfortable who are not on the page you are on (some won’t ever open the book) but you are striking nerves some didn’t know they had in the first place.
Your acknowledging Aubrey will change many more lives for the positive and you can never know the extent of how in this lifetime. What a day of Joy when Jesus and Aubrey meet you and Jesus says, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
“That’s completely uncalled for. Whoever posted it should be ashamed.”
Posted by: Anne at April 10, 2010 8:31 PM
Are you the same Anne who made the trailer house comments? If so, I am surprised (happily) to see your compassion for Carla. However, if nothing is inherantly wrong with abortion why would you consider this comment to be uncalled for? After all, the only reason that it could be considered uncalled for is if you acknowledge Aubrey’s humanity in the first place. If you are the same Anne who is proabortion, then I haven’t seen you acknowledge the unborn’s humanity and it would be hard for me to believe in the sincerity of your comment. If your comment is sincere, maybe it’s time you consider acknowledging the humanity of our unborn as well.
If you are a different Anne, please disregard.(:
Let’s see. Since Obama got the bill he so desperatly wanted signed, Stupak has been forced to resign, Obama’s approval ratings are in the toilet, states attorneys general are suing, the tea party movement and the Republicans are surging, and Democrats are afraid to show their faces at townhall meetings and are facing threats against their safety. The likelihood of a Republican takeover of both houses and many governorships is increasing daily.
President Obama, did no one ever tell you how the gods punish man by answering their prayers??
My goodness, I wonder if Obama will soon curse his “victory” as I’m certain President Lyndon Johnson cursed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, the “victory” that destroyed his presidency.
EGV,
I’ve heard so many tragic accounts of people who have gone bankrupt paying lawyers to defend them from false charges.
The best divorce attorney in my city won’t even talk to you until you plunk down several thousand dollars.
My sister in law had to take out a loan to pay an attorney. He demanded several thousand dollars up front to defend her son from trumped up charges.
Do you know when the gov’t plans to take over the legal profession and do you support it doing so?
Posted by: Praxedes at April 10, 2010 10:25 PM
It was obviously meant only to hurt Carla. It doesn’t personally offend me, but it adds nothing to the discussion. Comments like that are counter-productive and make civil discussion more difficult.
Hi Carla,
Please continue to maintain a dignified silence. When you respond to stupidity you give it the respect it does not deserve.
Carla,
Please remember what I said about responding to stupidity.
My advice to Carla applies to everyone. You ignore idiots, you let them put their stupidity on display, but NEVER argue with an idiot.
When satan works overtime, I find it helpful to tell him he has no power over Christ and therefore he has no power over Carla who Christ lives in. I laugh at satan when he gets as nasty as he did above because he hates being mocked more than anything.
God Bless you Carla. Keep up the Great Work in Jesus Christ our Lord’s name!
I wonder if Obama will soon curse his “victory” …

If he doesn’t, millions of others will be waiting in line to do it for him. Half of those who believe they’re getting private insurance (the “bottom rungs of society” as EGV so compassionately referred to them) won’t be amused to find out they’re being dumped into an already-broken Medicaid system. Then there are those who will be forced to buy insurance that covers more than they need but won’t be able to use it because they can’t afford the deductible. It hasn’t even begun to hit the fan yet, Mary.
Carla, I thought you might appreciate this. It’s called On Eagles Wings, a memorial.
All,
There is someone who is posting some very nasty things which we have deleted on this thread. This person is also posting under names of regular commenters here, pretending to be them, so please take that into consideration when reading comments on this thread. And please pray for this person.
St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Thanks for the heads up my bro ken.
Indeed scripture admonishes us not to waste time correcting a scorner.
It appears someone is quite angry that Carla both regrets her abortion and has healed/ is healing from it. Perhaps they want Carla to feel as twisted as they are inside.
My bet is Carla has come too far in God’s grace to give you what you want. She knows forgiveness.
Carla, I am grateful for your story and how you share it. This kind of cowardly attack only means you are really reaching people. You have my continued prayers.
Happy Easter, too! It is a good time to remember that our Lord’s wounds were truly healed, and He offered the healed wounds to Thomas, who was able to touch them. This same Risen Lord is with you, and reaching to heal the desperate person trying to insult you.
Good call, Bobby. Prayed the St. Michael prayer.
I hope there is some legal recourse you mods have if anyone becomes threatening.
Carla,
Such vitriol as has been spewed here is nothing more than a diabolical attempt to undo the great work of Love and Mercy that you and Jesus have forged together. Today in the Catholic Church is Divine Mercy Sunday when we celebrate the infinite mercy of God.
I find it no accident that this diabolical rant was aimed at you on this feast.
Your baby rejoices before the Throne of God and prays ceaselessly for you in an unbroken chain of love and tenderness that no power or dominion can sever of their own accord. Stay strong my sister, never doubting the great Divine Mercy. Nor should you doubt your beauty and holiness. I came across a great quote that made me think of you:
“A woman’s heart should be so lost in God that a man needs to seek Him in order to find her.”
My prayers are with you and for you on this great feast day.
Oh Mary – sure, the house could flip to the GOP this fall.
But here’s my question for you – if the GOP could establish and pass one of their core principles – let’s say social security overhaul or the end of abortion (let’s go with that one) – how long do you think they would be willing to go as a minority party if they got that passed. 20 years? 30 years?
It will be interesting this fall – quite a few months in between now and then – I think the economy will be a big issue, and the supreme court upcoming hearing – that could end up the bigger issue come fall.
I have been gone for much of the weekend and don’t even know or care what was posted!
Love you all too!!
Ex-GOP, I think there are definitely improvements that can be made, but I think we went in the exact wrong direction as far as making them.
The number one thing that could be done to reduce healthcare costs would be to open up individuals to the same marketplace that groups now have access to. Instead, we went in the exact opposite direction and will force millions of people off their group plans and into the sub-par individual market.
Also, we should encourage high deductable, low cost plans to cover catastrophic events. Everyday services should be charged at market rates, not the invisible scheme we have set up right now. Instead, of course, we did the exact opposite.
They took a system that was going bankrupt and sped up the process. The CBO numbers were completely bunk, as they failed to take into account the medicare doctor fix and relied on impossible numbers. The real costs will both raise the deficit and the average person’s healthcare cost.
Of course, that’s before they come through with some Orwellian sounding board like the UK’s NICE that will dictate who gets coverage and who dies. Unlike a private insurance company where an individual has recourse, we will have no standing against a government body.
So, yes, I think that the status quo is much better than the mess that the Dem’s have made. We could have made real progress with healthcare, but we went in the exact wrong direction.
EGV,
I’m afraid I don’t quite understand your question. Kindly rephrase it.
EGV,
Speaking of questions, you have yet to answer mine(10:42PM) concerning government takeover of the legal profession.
Any self-proclaimed “pro-life Democrats” are now faced with a “choice”: Remain allied with the Party of Death or remove yourselves.
Matthew 7:21
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”
Lauren – the problem is, while you speak of individual markets, without regulation, you’ll just get a mess. There’s a lot of great assessments of that if you’d like me to send links.
Mary – here’s my question. If the GOP could outlaw abortion through a constitutional amendment, but it would be so unpopular that the GOP would be voted out of power for a certain number of years – would it be worth it to you and the GOP? If so, for how many years? Sure the Dems will lose seats, but they just ushered in a policy pillar they’ve been working on since Truman.
Phil – On the surface, without thinking, I’d agree with you. But please let me know how the alternative to the Democrats would be the “party of life”? The GOP held the Presidency for 20 of 28 years – what massive gains were made?
EGV,
I’m not so sure a PL amendment would be so unpopular. The problem with the “pillar” you mention is that it can be repealed or tied up in the courts. Already it is causing problems. Little by little it can be dismantled by a GOP majority supported by the majority of Americans.
Personally, I think the Democrats shot themselves in both feet and then pointed the gun at their heads where this “health reform” bill is concerned. The gods must be laughing themselves silly. They must again be asking themselves and each other: When will (wo)mankind learn we punish them by giving them what they so desire?
Getting an amendment to the Constitution would be a very long, involved process and if enough Americans opposed it, would not be a likely occurance. A law possibly, but not an amendment.
Again, a Democrat majority could dismantle the law.
Hey brother Phil, Hisman. How are you? I wanted to know if I can type up your poem about the consequences of abortion to use at a pro-life conference as long as I give you your due credit for authoring it? It seems to fit in with our discussion about abortion being the destruction of not just the unborn but women, men, children, families and our nation. God bless you.
Oh BTW Carla I did see the pathetic post earlier didn’t have time to respond but I see that so many of the prolifers here have already responded to it and that Bobby has taken care of it. God bless you my sister. You are AWESOME and so are the rest of my prolife brothers and sisters. Happy Lord’s Day to you all.
Hmm, not sure.
Republicans were boiling the frog slowly.
Dems have now turned up the heat enough to get froggy to jump.
Basically, prolife Dems are part of the “middle” in politics. It is hard to win without the middle.
Prolifer:
Yes you can and here it is in case you don’t have it:
Abortion is an affront to the creative nature of God, it negates God as Creator,
Abortion denies the power of God to right a wrong, it negates God as Redeemer,
Abortion makes that which is good, the birth of human life, into that which is evil, the death of human life, and then calls it good, the very definition of blasphemy,
Abortion negates the resurrection power of God as it takes flesh that is alive in it’s earthly abode (the womb) and kills it, while God takes that flesh which is dead in it’s earthly abode (the grave) and desires to make it alive,
Abortion’s desire is to take that which was composed from the chaotic array of elemental molecules into a symphony of life infused with an eternal soul, and turn it back to the entropy of randomness, chaos, nothingness, uselessness.
Abortion is against all that is hopeful, all that requires faith for success; for it’s solution; annihilation, it’s goal; death, it’s dream; breaking God’s heart, it’s vision, Satan’s ultimate power.
Abortion is a counterfeit, for the clawprints of Satan are everywhere to be found in its performance;
Abortion disguises hate as love, bondage as freedom, choice as maturity, sin as righteousness, political correctness as wisdom,
Abortion pits men against women, mothers against their children, fathers against God, Yes, abortion is Satan’s feeble attempt at killing God Himself, for abortion is a metaphor for Satan; it is his coat of arms, his family crest, his logo, his brand, it belongs to him……for he laughs at its willing proponents as they craft their own self-destruction, mantled in self-deception.

EGV:
There are three branches of government.
We may have had control of the Executive branch for a majority of time, however, the Democrats have had control of the Judiciary and Legislative branches for a majority of the last 60 years.
The one chance we had to sway the Supreme Court was Robert Bork who the Liberals tore apart.
Taking prayer out of schools, legalizing abortion have all been wrought at the hands of the Democrat Party.
Just look at the difference in party platforms.
It get very tiresome to keep repeating this, however, the record stands for itself and cannot be revised.
Thank you Phil. I believe God will use it to bless many and to save lives of preborn innocent babies created in the image of Almighty God. Blessing to you and your family.
If Americans are pleased with Health Care Refrom, it will strengthen the position of the Democrats a bit. If they are unhappy with it, the Republicans will come out ahead. I don’t see either scenario have much effect on abortion laws or rates. I don’t see much commitment by either party to change the status quo regarding abortion.
Phil –
Yes, that’s great – but how is the Republican party the “party of life”? (assuming if the Democrats are the party of death, then that is what the Republicans are). I just haven’t seen the bills to justify it. Haven’t seen the Presidential candidates (McCain? Romney?).
I think the GOP talks abortion well, and is the first thing thrown to the side once they get into power. Heck, even now, with all going on – the talk is about independent/republican type candidates – the Scottie Brown mold.
Lastly – are the Democrats the problem with abortion? Who voted in R v Wade? Blackmun (Nixon), Burger (Nixon), Powell (Nixon), and Stewart (Eisenhower)? Four of the seven nominated by Republicans?
EGV:
The Republicans are not without innocent blood on their heads. I understand this.
However, we pro-lifers at least have a chance with them over the Dems.
Stupak proved this.
Hal,
I concur entirely with your comments at 8:33.
Ex-GOP,
Ditto for yours at 9:03 PM
The only way out of this mess is a grassroots repudiation of abortion, which has thoroughly poisoned the body politic. I welcome any judicial and legislative actions that slow the rate of abortion. However, the pitched battle will continue until Americans have had enough of the bloodshed, of the carnage amongst our wives, daughters and friends.
So, Jill, others and I continue to write, to speak of the mounting scientific evidence of abortion’s cataclysmic toll on our personal lives and the life of our nation. I doubt that I’ll live to see that day when we say ‘enough”, but I know that my children may well see it.
That’s good enough for me.
If we are to learn anything from this is to trust in God not man. We will not solve the holocaust of abortion by electing politicians. It doesn’t matter if the GOP gains in November. Only God can be trusted. What makes me hopeful is that abortion is now forefront in the political discussion. For years many of us were complacent, ignorant, and had lost hope in the fight against abortion. It’s a new day, a new generation of young people are emerging as pro-life.
Ninek:
God says we already have the victory, however, most of us are too afraid to go against the giants in the land.
It’s up to us.
Trusting God involves believing what He says about us, that we are forgiven, that we are more than conquerors, that we have the victory, not just sitting back and doing nothing.
If it was up to God He would have never allowed abortion to become legal in the fist place.
“God says we already have the victory, however, most of us are too afraid to go against the giants in the land.”
I don’t think it’s fear HisMan. While most Americans and “Christians” now profess a Pro-Life position, it’s only a small minority that cares enough about the killing to do something about it.
Cowardice isn’t the problem, it’s spiritual apathy, lethargy, worldliness and carnality.
Thankfully, God is waking some of us up from our slumber. As you know, He will continue to prepare His Bride, and it will undoubtedly require some tough times ahead to get Her full attention.
On second thought HisMan, there probably is a fear component as well in terms of worrying what others may think. Many are probably afraid of losing a friendship or are concerned what their boss might think if they took a stand for Life. It’s the same fear which keeps people from sharing the Gospel
We need to be Baptized with Fire, then we won’t care what man thinks.
And we need to pray for boldness.
