New poll/Old poll

The new poll question is up:
Which anti-life executive order do you think President Barack Obama will sign first?
Here were the answers to last week’s question…

Since Vizu only shows the most recent 500 flags, it appears anti-Catholic-choicers early on with a late surge of pro-lifers. Click on the maps below to get a better view of your own brightly colored flag….

As always, make comments to either this or last week’s poll here, not on the Vizu website.

I’m surprised the “no” vote is so high. My guess is that voters were saying that the bishops should not close hospitals as opposed to threaten to close hospitals which is how the question is actually worded.
I don’t think any doctor or hospital should be required to dispense the morning after pill (MAP). What’s next, an office for Dr. Kevorkian?
Wow, It’s great to see votes from South America, the Middles East, Australia, and Africa (our friend from Ghana is back). All pro-life, too!
Oops (above).. that’s spelled Kervorkian.
Janet, “Kevorkian” is correct.
I still say Barack Obama does not have a birth certificate, he will not be President but Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden might push a lot of anti-life initiatives.
I don’t know that Obama won’t be President but that is my best guess at this point.

Perhaps the NO vote is high because Catholic hospitals and clinics provide a safety net for the uninsured and underinsured. They provide millions of dollars of charity care each year.
Hospital ERs are overcrowded as it is. Can you imagine if all Catholic ERs closed down? The burden on other hospitals would be staggering. Still, I believe the bishops should close them if Obama goes ahead with FOCA or mandates anything else against Church teaching.
As for emergency contraception, Catholic ERs, at least where I live, are providing it. The USCCB has already weighed in on that.
Here’s where I think it will get interesting. Will non-religious health care systems join the fight against FOCA? On the one hand, they don’t want the unprofitable patients served by Catholic hospitals. On the other hand, they would like less competition for the well-insured ones. It’s hard to imagine there would be a national health insurance plan up and running that would make any kind of difference before FOCA comes up on the table.
Will sign first? He already has them all signed and ready to go. Apparently the one overturning the Mexico City Policy (U.S. taxpayer funding of foreign abortions) will be announced immediately (see here).
Joe says: I still say Barack Obama does not have a birth certificate
Joe, I have some beachfront property in Arizona that you’ll be interested in…
I predict the o’bama (pbuh) will executive order a case of duty free Lucky Strike cigarettes and executive order some barbecuee ribs with extra spicey sauce with keg of dark draft beer.
yor bro ken
Ken, speakin’ of beer, are we having a few this fine evening?
Doug,
I guess I should have trusted my instincts the first time.
Yah.
I still think they should threaten to not only close the hospitals, but to close and bulldoze the hospitals.
And it goes without saying that prior to the inauguration, an official statement should go out from the USCCB that any Catholic politician who votes for the FOCA is excommunicated.
I’m with you John, 100%.
I think they ought to bulldoze all the big power lines and towers because one of these days those towers are going to shrug off the lines and start to walk and baby let me tell you some stuff is going to get messed up then!
one of these days those towers are going to shrug off the lines and start to walk
I work in the electrical industry, and I was not informed of this.
Doug,
Uh-Oh. :(
Guess I’m out of the loop, Janet. : (

I hope you and yours have a great Thanksgiving and a great Holiday season. HisMan is right when he says that we have a lot to be thankful for.
Just about missed my first flight this morning – didn’t set the alarm, woke up in a hotel 34 minutes before it was supposed to leave.
Wrote it off, figuring I’d have to pay any price to get on any plane leaving soon – because I’m meeting my wife in the second airport wherefrom we’d leave to go to my mom’s for the next few days.
I don’t make it – my wife….. Holy Crow, it would be bad. She can be ferocious.
At warp speed, I got dressed, soaked my hair so it would lie down, checked out of the hotel, took the shuttle bus to the airport, only a mile away.
Check-in counter, 20 minutes to go. Guy gave me a dirty look, as well he should have. Can’t check any baggage that late, but they’d let me carry both things I had on. He’d call the gate, let them know I was coming.
“You gotta run, man.”
Run I did, got through security okay, and got on the plane. Never would have believed it.
I’m in the second airport now, and my wife is on the way.
I’m grateful to have made your online acquaintance, Janet.
