Planned Parenthood Memphis caught covering up underage rape
UPDATE 4/21, 9:20a: I’ve been informed by someone at TN Right to Life of the irony of the following photo I posted yesterday. This was taken April 7, 2009, during Planned Parenthood’s lobby day and posted on PP Greater Memphis Region’s myspace page. The legislator at the desk is state Sen. Ophelia Ford (who was appointed to replace her brother John after he was indicted for accepting bribes and thrown in the slammer). The flowers on Ford’s desk? TNRTL gave them to Ford, urging her to defend life. There they stand as silent witnesses…

UPDATE, 4/21, 8:50p: Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region has responded with PP’s now typical we-want-to-see-unedited-video-and-are-unsure-of-real-facts-but-will-conduct-staff-training-anyway response to Live Actions undercover videos.

UPDATE, 12:50p: TN Right to Life has released a visual demonstration of the ridiculosity of the supposedly pro-life controlled TN legislature twice now refusing to pull $1.1 million in funding to rape-protecting PP while other important programs languish during TN’s budget crisis. Click to enlarge…

Will the 3rd try be the charm? State Sen. Jack Johnson and state Rep. Dr. Joey Hensley have introduced PP defunding bills this session.
PP just gave them more ammo.

Lila Rose and Live Action have just released video #5 in their Mona Lisa series of undercover investigative sting videos of Planned Parenthoods across America….
Lila, in reality a 20-year-old UCLA student, posed last summer as a 14-year-old who had been impregnated by her 31-year-old boyfriend and trekked her story and camera to PPs across the country, including to date IN, AZ, and now TN.
This time Lila went to the Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region, 1407 Union Ave., Ste. 300.
Although TN law is clear PP should have immediately reported the suspected sexual abuse, the counselor told Lila she wouldn’t and then doubled her offense by telling Lila to lie about her perpetrator’s age to a judge so she could get a bypass and avoid her parents finding out as well. The quality of Live Action’s videos, always great, continues to get better still.
PPGMR has a myspace page with some lovely staff photos. Wonder which smiling counselor enjoys helping cover up adult rape of a minor? Click to enlarge…

I also thought the following was rich with irony. PPGMR is hosting an April 29 luncheon (picket anyone?) featuring comedienne Carol Leifer, author of the book, When you lie about your age terrorists win; Reflections on looking in the mirror. Click to enlarge…

Lying about one’s age… terrorists… yes. Of course, PP et al are the real domestic terrorists, Janet.
Read Live Action’s press release here.

Wow, a ticket for PPGMR’s luncheon (AND a comedy performance) is only $25.00 per person. What a deal!!! Oh, I almost forgot, our tax dollars are probably subsidizing the cost of this event.
Seeing the smiling faces in these photographs is repulsive. “They know not what they do.” Or do they???
“This is the sixth clinic we have recorded that manipulates the law and covers up sexual abuse. Planned Parenthood’s abortion-first mentality makes it operate as an advocate for terrible crimes against children,” Rose states. “What more do authorities need to see before holding this organization accountable for its institutionalized indifference to statutory rape and sexual abuse of children?”
Where are the Congressional hearings??? Isn’t covering up underage rape worse than some baseball players taking steroids?? Where are your priorities, Congressmen?
Bravo once again to the courageous Lila & co. Wake up, America! PP hurts women, protects rapists & kills children and WE GIVE THEM OUR TAX DOLLARS hand over fist.

Janet at 12:10 PM
Janet, immediately when I saw the photo, I was reminded of this one:
http://www.conversiondiary.com/2008/11/how-would-you-know.html
good grief how many videos do we need to have to get across the point that PP covers up statutory rape?
HOW MANY?
As many as the brave and spunky Lila Rose has!!! :)
Keep ’em comin’, Lila!
but if this were a restaurant breaking the law by selling drinks to minors, would they be shut down?

agreed.
klyn73,
I remember that photo of young German women. The big difference between that photo and the PP employees photos that Jill posted is that the German women may have been completely unaware of the evil Holocaust going on around them, whereas, the PP employees all know what PP’s does and promotes, and they still manage a smile.

Hal,
It’s always nice when we can agree.
“Where are the Congressional hearings??? ”
——————————————-
I guess my question would be…where’s the MSM???
The politicians would only get involved if it’s already staring at them in the face…
I wonder if the african american women employees in the picture know the TRUE nature of Planned Parenthood’s agenda and of the founder’s racist beliefs.
Liz, there’s no reason to think african american women employees know any less about the “TRUE” nature of Planned Parenhood’s “agenda” than anyone else.
Since they actually work there, I would guess they’re more informed then you or I.
No they aren’t aware. Its only when the death and the lives ended prematurely and everything gets to them in other ways that they realize that PP is about is NOTHING GOOD.
I remember reading what finally turned Norma McCorvey to the side of LIFE, after she had worked at a death mill for several years.
She had met a little girl named Emily and her mother. She befriended the mother and her daughter despite their opposing views. It was only when she learned that Emily was almost an abortion victim that she started to change. A seed of LIFE was planted in her.
Liz, I think it’s really insulting to assert that women (who you don’t know) who work at Planned Parenthood don’t know as much as you do about the organization. And, of course, if they did know what you knew, they’d feel the same way about it that you do. Once again, let me say this. We know. We just don’t agree with you.

Janet, the women in that photograph worked at Auschwitz. They were part of the SS and were, at the time of the picture, at a retreat on the outskirts of the camp. It was I don’t think they were unaware of the Holocaust going on around them. They were likely far more aware than the PP employees, because they probably saw the people they were starving and killing, whereas for many PP employees abortion remains somewhat theoretical.
I suspect that most at PP are as aware but have chosen to (spiritually) close their eyes. It is mind-boggling how human beings can justify killing when it serves their purpose.
I was able to watch the second hour of the movie on CBS about Irena Sadler last night. It was so frightening and heartbreaking to see what one group of people could do to another group of people. But it was also incredibly uplifting and inspiring to see what some people did to counteract such grave evil; to the point of putting their lives on the line and enduring torture.
At the end of the movie they had footage of Irena asking people to think about those Jewish mothers who gave up their children to save them and also the Polish women who took those children in and loved them, and were heartbroken to give them up, but did so when it was time to attempt to reunite them with their families. It seems our culture today is breeding out (for lack of a better term) that nurturing instinct that is such a beautiful attribute of women.
Hal, it’s very cold to admit that you know that the unborn are human beings, yet believe it is ok to kill them anyway.
The Irena Sendler movie was GOOD. It’ll be on DVD in June @ Hallmark Stores.
And I agree with Lauren’s 9:06 PM Post!
How sick.
Alexandra,
I found one article on the internet that mentioned that these German women you refer to (in the picture where they were sitting on a fence eating blueberries) were SS -communications specialists. I wasn’t able to find out what that means exactly. Were they aware of the killings in their roles as communication specialists? Did the officers discuss the killings (while on retreat) in front of these women?I don’t know the answer to those questions.
I don’t understand what you mean by “abortion remains somewhat theoretical”. How can that be??

Yeah, I guess.
Maybe the PP employees sincerely don’t know what abortion fully entails or maybe they do and choose to stay blissfully ignorant or delusion themselves with their prochoice ideology.
Janet, I find it incredibly unlikely that a person would work at Auschwitz and have no idea about the Holocaust. Even most German private citizens were aware of the mistreatment of the Jews, though often not the extent of the slaughter; many were not aware that non-Jews were also sent to concentration camps.
And by theoretical I mean that by and large, most people who work for Planned Parenthood never see the results of an abortion. They mostly see women who come of their own volition and leave thanking them, if they even work in a clinic. Maybe the comparison would be more valid if Planned Parenthood ripped children screaming and crying from their parents’ arms to take them to the clinic, and then employees systematically starved and abused those babies even as the children begged for help, if only with their eyes; and then they periodically chose a fairly random assortment of children to be killed. Even if you are anti-abortion and acknowledge that it is the taking of a human life, you can see that there is a massive difference in dehumanization between signing a free-willed woman into a clinic, and seeing a starving person limping along and basically kicking him out of the way.
So I think it’s somewhat rich to say that the “difference” between PP employees and SS officials is that PP employees are worse. If abortion is wrong the it’s wrong, and IMO there’s more traction in reasoning with people that it’s just as wrong EVEN IF it doesn’t initially seem that way — not positing that anyone for whom it does not “feel” as wrong is like the Nazis. There is a massive difference in the level of dehumanization required so it’s not entirely unthinkable that people won’t “feel” the same about abortion as about starving, abusing, and murdering millions of human beings.
Eileen#2,
I agree that the basic instinct we have as women, to nurture, and to mother almost seems non-existent. We are legally allowed as mothers in this country to kill our own children. We have hardened our hearts as a nation and as a people against those who need us the most. Abortion has supposedly empowered women, helped them and healed them. Not seeing it.
Alexandra,
Nobody sees what an abortion does to a child “inside” of its mother. There might be crying, thrashing, screaming, violent tries to get away from the instrument but then there is death. What is left is the mangled bodies of tiny human children.
I see abortion and the holocaust as atrocities aimed at different groups of people to the same end…DEATH.
I have heard in several testimonies, by women who have had abortions, that there were women in the recovery room, wailing after realizing what they had done. Maybe not every employee sees the actual abortion but they are exposed to other things indicating the devastating consequences.
Carls, that is exactly my point. Nobody sees the person being killed. That might not make it right, but it certainly makes it a different level of dehumanization.
Ha Alexandra,
One of my friends always types Carls cause the s is close to the a on the keyboard. :)
So…showing the actual photos of the aftermath of abortion, like the human skeletons of the Holocaust, should open up some eyes, no?
Eileen,
After my abortion we were all put in recliners. I was relieved(that lasted a couple of days)I looked around at all of the other girls. They were all crying. Those were not tears of joy, mind you. We all KNOW what is going on. Anyone who works in a mill KNOWS what is happening. I am sure there is much filing of paperwork and handholding and “counseling” to do so they can physically and emotionally separate themselves from what is happening down the hall.
Yes, Carla, you wonder if those “hardliner” feminists who think that abortion is so “liberating” for women have ever seen what goes on in an abortion clinic.
I am sure they would need to avoid the procedure room and the “parts” room. Oh, and the freezer.
I am still waiting for the study that follows women from the mill for 10-12 years and see how these “empowered” women are doing.
Oops, Carla, I didn’t even notice that I did that! But anyway I certainly have no problem with people seeing pictures of abortions.
Thank you Jill for the publicity. We are all over this in TN. This may be the break we are waiting for.
Carla, Alexandra,
This talk about abortion and the Holocaust just makes my cry. I don’t want to believe that it is real. We need to respect the dignity of every human life.
I’m of German ancestry and although my family left Germany in the mid- 1800’s, I wonder “what if” my family hadn’t left… would I have known? What would I have done? It kind of hits too close to home.
Janet,
I am sorry. Photos of anything horrific tear me to pieces. Then I get overcome with righteous anger and then I lament. How long O Lord?
Your family link to the Holocaust makes it more real to you I am sure just like my abortion makes this all the more heartbreaking and real for me.
Maria,
GO, GO, GO!! We are praying for you in TN!!
Carla,
“Your family link to the Holocaust makes it more real to you I am sure just like my abortion makes this all the more heartbreaking and real for me.”
Just to clarify for other readers, I don’t have direct family link to the Holocaust, but I know what you meant. :)
Janet,
I knew you would! :)
Live Action Films is doing an amazing job!
The non-profit Planned Parenthood is not required by law in accordance with the reporting, investing and treatment provisions 37-1-603 and 37-1-615 to report what is clearly not a case of child sexual abuse. This does not fall under mandatory reporting law. Not only is P.P not required to report, but they are not allowed to report under patient privacy laws.
Anti-choice attempts at entrapment using video recorders and various devices goes back to at least 1997. So if P.P. is breaking the law why haven’t they been prosecuted? Why hasn’t there been a single prosecution in all the States where they have attempted entrapment? Why haven’t any of the 107 ludicrous charges filed by Phill Kline stuck? Why is it that Paul Morrison found absolutely no wrongdoing? Why is Phill Kline now teaching at the fundamentalist Christian “Liberty University” founded by bigot Jerry Falwell after Kansans sent him packing?
Strangely we never see the face of this assistant nurse in the video. Why should we assume that the audio recording in any way shape or form matches the video footage we are shown? Anti-choice zealots have as mentioned attempted entrapment in several States before. With their long track record of lies and falsifying evidence I see no reason to “trust” a group that is intent on attacking a woman’s fourth amendment right to privacy. Another strange anomaly… the video is being presented to the public in April 2009 but the date on the tape shows July of 2008. Oooops!
Let’s take a look at the reality. Only 3% of Planned Parenthood’s activities involve abortion. Planned Parenthood is a non profit organization. P.P. provides services for millions of men and women, many of whom have lost health insurance and or their jobs. In terms of percentage this is what P.P. does: STD testing 29%; Contraception 38%; Cancer screening 19%; Other 11%; Abortion 3%.
Now if anti-choice fundamentalists were really concerned about abortions and “life” why would they attack contraception as they are currently doing? Contraception in addition to preventing un-intended pregnancies helps to prevent the spread of AIDS; STD’s; STI’s or (sexually transmitted infections) for both men and women. Isn’t it obvious that they would prefer to tell American citizens how they should live and conduct their sex lives? They are truly the American version of the Taliban. This has little to do with “Life” and everything to do with dogma. Why is this dangerous and a threat to the human race? Well, if you are ignorant enough to believe that a “spirit” of some sort enters the womb at the moment of conception, then you couldn’t possibly permit stem cell research which will actually help save millions of “LIVES”. So how can the issue be about life and not misguided superstition and ignorance? The excess number of embryo’s brought about by “In Vetro Fertilization” are currently being discarded, literally thrown away. What if as a society we threw away “heart’s” that could save someone’s life because we thought there was a “spirit” inside? This ignorance is a direct affront to Science, Medicine, Democracy and mankind’s altruistic nature to help those in need.
In addition to courting right-wing legislators in Indiana; Ohio; Virginia and Kentucky, Anti-Choice zealots have proposed a budget amendment sponsored by Sen. Tim Huelskamp of Kansas which seeks to cut funding for Planned Parenthood family services in the 2010 appropriations bill. Mr. Huelskamp even has the gall to reference the 107 baseless charges filed by Phill Kline that have already been rendered moot by a previous ruling.
The unmitigated ignorance of the radical right speaks volumes. Apparently they truly believe that if contraception is outlawed the 750,000 teen pregnancies a year in the U.S. will somehow magically disappear. And how would that happen exactly? Fortunately the F.D.A.’s recent approval of “Plan B” for 17 year olds will greatly reduce the number of un-intended pregnancies. Other hopeful news includes the passage of the “Omnibus Appropriations Bill” which will restore common sense birth control measures. President Obama’s reversal of Bush’s “H.H.S. midnight rule” and his rescinding the “Global Gag Rule” which had disastrous affects on women’s healthcare and family planning throughout the world is a very positive sign. Other bills are currently moving through Congress to fully restore a woman’s right to choose.
In view of the recent attacks on women’s health care by legislators at the State level I think it is imperative that we achieve a National Health Care System that will make healthcare easily accessible to all, especially in rural area’s throughout the 50 States. Building thousands more clinics around the Nation should be a top priority and one that will ultimately stimulate the economy and provide jobs for thousands. If necessary these clinics should include armed security personnel and be ‘gated’ to enforce democratic law and thwart arsonists and criminals.
In 1994 the “Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act” was passed which made it a crime punishable up to 1 year or $100,000 dollar fine for blocking a woman’s legal right to enter a health care clinic. I believe that in addition to the above we need strong Federal legislation that would severely punish anyone threatening a clinic or clinic personnel. Some action has already been taken by Federal agencies to investigate websites or publishers for example who are advocating violence or other criminal activity. Since 1982 there have been over 150 arson attacks on family planning clinics. Severe prison sentences should be implemented during this Administration to eradicate any attempt by these cowards to interfere with a woman’s legal right to choose. If fines are not paid this again should lead to a prison sentence or an extended prison sentence. I think a minimum incarceration period of ten year’s should be enacted for threatening or carrying out attacks on healthcare providers and personnel.
The radical right in this Country needs to understand that this is the law and it is the will of the American people, terrorism and tyranny against our civil liberties will not be tolerated in any form.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t abortion legal, THE LAW?
