CBS provided more than fair coverage Sunday of the the House’s passage of the Stupak/Pitts Amendment.
Note the solid pro-life talking points…

  • MI pro-life Dem Rep. Bart Stupak: “I’m not writing a new abortion policy. The Hyde Amendment already prohibits federal funding of abortion.”
  • stupak pitts amendment house vote healthcare.jpg

  • AUL CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest: It was very exciting last night to see demonstrated that there is bi-partisan pro-life majority in the House, and that reflects the pro-life majority in America.”
  • CBS’s Michelle Miller: “It was a major concession for pro-abortion rights Democrats.”
  • … and the weak, lame pro-abortion talking points I would not be happy CBS chose to spotlight if I were a pro-abort PR rep…

  • CA Rep. Barbara Lee: “It’s outrageous. It further places the religious views of some into our public policy.”
  • NARAL president Nancy Keenan: “The fact of the matter is, you know, the healthcare debate should be covering all Americans including women and their reproductive health.”
  • The “religious views” talking point is stale. Pro-lifers have done a good job articulating opposition to abortion based on science and the health and safety of women as well religion. Most Americans consider themselves religious anyway, Christian even.
And the fact of the matter is most Americans don’t want to pay for someone else’s abortion. And the fact of the matter is pro-aborts including Nancy have been arguing “reproductive health,” i.e., abortion, wasn’t included in socialized healthcare in the first place. It’s hard to argue against a nonissue.
    Here’s the segment:

I should note Miller, tsk tsk, changed “pro-abortion rights Democrats” to “pro-choice Democrats” in her written story.
And in the written story Miller also included the false but best pro-abort talking point I’ll be addressing in my WorldNetDaily.com column Wednesday, Keenan speaking: “Right now about 80 to 85% of private insurance companies cover abortion care. This means that women without their own money in this country are not going to be allowed to access that care.”
I’m sure Keenan is fuming that CBS didn’t include that soundbite in its video news story.
