Lunch Break: Christmas 1776 – “Victory or Death”
by LauraLoo
Republican Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich tells the story about how Gen. George Washington led his troops across the Delaware to surprise the Hessians at Trenton, helping to defeat the British.
Never forget the price that was paid to liberate a nation and people. The cost of our country’s way of life was great; let’s all do our part in keeping this the greatest country in the world.

And here I was, lured into thinking I’d learn something about the Battle of Trenton. Instead, I get Newt wrapping himself in the flag.
He could have worn the uniform, but didn’t. It was his choice.
Fail.
Hey, any reminder of that great event is a salute to the flag.
I’m proud to live only about 5 miles from Washington’s Crossing.
Agree Hans, God bless America! LL
If anyone wants to read about this great event, one of the best recent books on the topic is “Washington’s Crossing” by David Hackett Fischer. Excellent overview of the campaign and some of the incredible hardships the troops endured.

This video was very good and needed. I think the people who live in North American democracies, indeed all Western Democracies, need to be re-educated about their History. Western people need to be given a balanced perspective on history, not only a negative view of the accomplishments of the West. The history of Western society has been told by the people on the far-left for so long that many of the people in Western society only know of this leftist understanding of Western history – a version of Western history that primarily focuses on the failings of the West.
It will be nice for the World to have a President who has a historical perspective of the United States. A President who knows what the United States meant to its own citizens and to the citizens of the world in the past.
A historical perspective not only allows one to understand what America wanted to accomplish in the past but it also allows one to understand what America currently wants to accompish.
