Pro-life video of the day: Child brides
by LauraLoo
Bader Ben Hirsi at TED discusses the culture of Arab countries who sanction giving away girls (as young as age 9) to be child brides:

For those of Islamic persuasion, their role model for such practice is the prophet Mohammed. He took a child bride (Aisha) in his 50’s while she was 6. However, Mohammed waited until she reached “maturity” at 9 before physically consummating the marriage.
What I don’t understand (way beyond cultural “norms”) is what does a middle-aged man in the 21st century (or any century, for that matter) have in common with a little girl? Despite the fact that this is a cultural practice held to for centuries, what is the desire or motivation for Islamic males to continue this sort of practice instead of choosing a woman of at least 18 years of age?

Doesn’t marriage seem to “legitimize” the pedophilia??
I don’t believe these men care about what they have in common with little girls. Rape is rape.
I agree, Carla. I think that these laws are to support men’s pedophilia. These little girls could be their daughters!! And they’re “marrying” them? Sick, sick, sick! This just breaks my heart. Those poor little girls will probably be scarred for life.
And also, what kind of parents would marry of their baby girl to be violated by a man who could not only her father, but possibly also her grandfather!?!? Is the family paid well?
I guess it’s like that mom who sold her 14 year old daughter’s virginity to some older dude here in the U.S. Despicable.
I hate this stuff, it makes me want to throw up
NAMBLA, the NorthAmericanManBoyLoveAssociation, recommends, “If you wait til their eight, you are too late.”
In some of the Muslim dominated as yet to develop nations, the well know maxim is, “Women are for children, boys are for fun.”
It seems obvious that some muslims believe that pre-pubescent girls are for fun as well cause they sure ain’t makin no babies at six or nine years of age.
Pedophiles are just nasty people no matter what their nationality, ethnicity, religion or gender.
Denise,
I don’t think we needed details on the “Why?” of the physical side of things. Seriously. You get pretty jacked-up sometimes. This is waaaaaay over the line.
Denise, NOOOOOOOOO. Stop!!!!! I’m going to puke. We all get it. It didn’t need to be said. We were asking the “why” about how this could happen morally, how parents can do this to their children. It’s child abuse.
DO NOT let Denise derail another thread. I think she’s doing it on purpose.
Denise. That’s freaking sick. FFS. Who the hell thinks like that when talking about child abuse?
There was another “Muslim Cleric” (I can’t find the reference to his identity anywhere) who advocated sex with BABIES! He said “as long as the child is old enough to bear the weight of a grown man.”
Wherever it was on television that I saw this, they said, to HIM, that meant men could marry/have sex with a baby as young as 18 months!
MONSTROUSLY EVIL!
Shame on all those who buy in to the “War On Women” nonsense here in U.S. politics. There are real Wars On Women, Girls, and Babies to fight.
Their motivation (I suspect) is POWER. They do it because they CAN-
and because a child is much easier to”control” than a (young) WOMAN.
Denise apparently has no decency filter, and her comment has been removed.
Thank you for removing that Kel.
Monstrously evil!!
Indeed Pamela.
I can’t bear this topic.
Good Lord.
Pamela, that’s probably true. And if they get them that young, they’re probably so demoralized that they’ll be easier to control even when they’re older. So heartbreaking.
And THANK YOU KEL!!!! It’s greatly appreciated.
I’ve always been anti-death penalty but I can say that I wouldn’t be heart broken if it was applied to pedophiles and child rapists of all sorts. I honestly think raping little girls is about the worst thing anyone can do.
Did I miss another of Denise’s musings: “Hmm, I wonder what rapists could be thinking?”
Ignorance (in my case) is indeed bliss.
Jack, totally agree. You have to be a special kind of sick-twisted to do something like that. Just thinking about makes me want to go out and do something really, really awful to those guys – and they’re not my kids and I”m usually a peaceful person. At a minimum castration would be a fitting penalty for these …. these… man, I can’t think of a bad enough for them….
And yes, Hans, consider yourself lucky to have missed Denise’s latest inappropriate spew. :( It was worse than that.
Castration doesn’t work on sex criminals, because it’s not really a sexual thing, it’s a mental thing. When castration has been tried the criminals just go on to find other ways to do their sick stuff. I think at minimum life in solitary confinement would be good. I don’t like how in the US someone can molest a little girl and end up serving five years or even less. It’s disgusting.
True, but it would be satisfying to castrate them. Oh I know!! Solitary confinement for LIFE would be good. I mean, if it’s proved without a shadow of a doubt that this foul monster molested a little girl, I say lock him up forever. It’s a steeper punishment than many think. It creeps me out that people who sexually abuse kids get off easy a lot of times. Makes me want to keep my kids close, when/if I have them. :(
They get let out for good behavior.
Of course. There are no little girls in prison.
Pedophiliac sex criminals can be given a choice: prison for a limited length of time or permanent exile. The exile would be a little island with no other inhabitants or a village constructed just for them. The purpose would not be punishment or rehabilitation but ONLY to PERMANENTLY SEPARATE THEM from possible victims. The little village would allow them to work, have their own houses, apartments, stores and the semblance of a normal life – but a life completely without children. No children would be anywhere around the area. The perimeters would be heavily guarded. If a child molester attempted to leave, that person would be immediately shot.
And on the island, they would wear name tags shaped like an old fashioned bicycle but with a number, and they would be obligated to take arts and crafts, and if they tried to escape, a huge white balloon would stop them, and..(jump in if you get my reference!)…
Ok, that’s it. ‘Be seeing you!
Seriously, though, this has been going on for centuries. What is the current “feminist” reaction?
“Hey, little girl, sorry that old dude is beating on you. Would you like an abortion? Hope so because that’s all we’re interested in doing for you..”
Laura Loo:
“… what is the desire or motivation for Islamic males to continue this sort of practice instead of choosing a woman of at least 18 years of age?”
I don’t know. Must be something about those 72 virgins in paradise waiting for them or something.
I suspect Pamela Gellar and Robert Spencer (Atlas Shrugs and Jihad Watch dot coms respectively) could teach us a thing or two about nine year old “women”.
I think Pamela is totally correct. Get ’em young before they start to think for themselves.
I just wish someone would tell the martyrs that the ‘virgins’ lovingly who await them consist of goats and haggard crones. Maybe they’d rethink.
I don’t care about avoiding punishment for child molesters. They should be punished, not just separated from society. Solitary confinement for life sounds good.
And the majority of children who were molested don’t grow up to abuse others. That’s a really damaging stereotype.
“Seeing the parallels…these could’ve been my daughters…I had to do something…”
Wow. Someone really needs to tell this guy to mind his own business and stop trying to use his daughters to mud sling. Reality? Care to set him straight?
He’s justified xalisae, he’s talking about something which is actually wrong.
I hate it when comments get deleted and then it looks like I just make random comments to no one lol.

(Denise) My exile idea would mean they could live useful lives but be PERMANENTLY separated from their prey. I’m not interested in avoiding punishment for them but not AS interested in it as I am in ensuring they can’t do it again. The village or island is the perfect way to ensure they don’t repeat the offense.
Molested children don’t inevitably grow up to be molesters but child molesters are very disproportionately apt to have been molested as children. There is a bit of “vampire” in this offense.
Totally agree Jack.
A small, dark cell until the day they die.

(Denise) If they were exiled to an island without minors or kept in a well-guarded village without minors, they would never be able to harm another child as long as they lived.
ninek,
It seems we’re all Villagers now.

Wow. Maybe one of these days, it’ll click for ya.
Here’s a hint: From the perspective of the child who once had their life hanging in the balance, it’s pretty darned wrong.
“Molested children don’t inevitably grow up to be molesters but child molesters are very disproportionately apt to have been molested as children. There is a bit of “vampire” in this offense. ”
Most studies I have seen put the rate of childhood sexual abuse of male sex offenders at 30%, when in the general male population is around 15%. It’s not that disproportionate, though it’s is one correlated factor. It’s apparently the only thing that people like to discuss for “why” people might grow up to be abusers, which I think is not only limiting to understand why abuse occurs but is damaging to non-offending survivors to be treated like, how did you put it? A vampire?

(Denise) I was sexually molested as a child. I have no sexual desires for children and have never been the least bit tempted to do to anyone what was done to me.
The correlation exists. It is not the only factor in the making of a child molester. There could be genetic or bio-chemical factors. It could be that pedophiles had other things go wrong in their childhoods and adolescent years that led them to feel in some sense “stuck” at a particular age. I’m sure there are many factors. Our knowledge of what causes pedophilia is quite imperfect.
Being molested does so much damage to a child’s psyche- It robs a child of their “innocence” – their sense that adults are trust-worthy, that their world is a safe place.
In a sense it “kills” the child. It changes who you once were, how you once felt about yourself. To rob a child of that –
Well..I just think it deserves more than just being locked up, because that means that the molester is being “taken care of” for the rest of their life.
That doesn’t seem fair. Just my opinion.
To be fair, there is a huge difference between a grown man marrying a 16 year old and a 6 year old. While I think teens are far too young to make a lifelong commitment such as marriage, such an arrangement isn’t inherently abusive or disordered. When it involves a prepubescent child it takes on an entirely different meaning. My great-grandmother was 16 when she married my great-grandfather, who was 19 or 20 at the time, and he certainly doesn’t deserved to be lumped in with pedophiles.
If you listen to the whole video, this man states that if the issue of child brides is dealt with, a whole different can of worms will be opened. He says there will be an increase of rape of women and children if child brides are disallowed because all these young men will just have to do something with their sexual frustrations and sexual energies.
He seems to think that it is a women’s job to fix rapists and child molesters.
I think rapists should be allowed to take out their sexual frustrations and sexual energies on other rapists in the prison setting.
Surely we can all agree that top priority must go to protecting children, right?
If so, the child molesters’ island or village that I propose would be the most effective way to do that.
Pretty funny correlation, Hans!!
Yes, the guy who posted that video on YouTube about his concerns with the NHS was clearly a fan of The Prisoner.
Best use of a cheap weather balloon ever!
Praxedes,
It is too much to ask men to stop raping little girls. I mean they HAVE to do this. They HAVE to rape. Can’t stop. Won’t stop. Must be the 6 year olds fault.
Blame the victims and expect them to change the culture without a voice.
Good Lord.
