  • Wesley J. Smith discusses the latest culture of death idea. We’ve heard of “abortion doulas,” but what about death doulas? These individuals, according to two authors, would become “suicide facilitators” by “fill[ing] a gap between treatment doctors and hospice workers.”

  • ProLife365 has a humorous post on the benefits of having a large family.
  • Saynsumthn’s Blog reports on the pro-abortion Unitarian Church’s Alternative Gift List for 2014. Topping their list: Give to a center for abused children or perhaps donate to Planned Parenthood, the nation largest promoter and provider of abortions. Talk about the ultimate child abuse – death by dismemberment – and the ultimate in compartmentalization.

  • Bound4Life is praying for a pro-life start to 2015, and asks others to do the same as two important cases will come before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals:

Both Arkansas and North Dakota’s State Legislatures have passed laws defining life as when a baby’s heartbeat can be detected. Now the appeals court will consider if the laws, passed by majority vote, are considered constitutional.

  • ProLife NZ laments the story of a woman choosing abortion at 28 weeks gestation when she found out her child had a deformed left hand. She stated her decision to abort rested upon not wanting her child to be discriminated against due to this disability (oh, the irony). The media felt it unfortunate that the deformity was not identified earlier in pregnancy, as if that would have made the abortion more acceptable. (I wonder what would happen if children had the right to terminate less than perfect parents….)

  • At Life Training Institute, The Failed Atheist links to his excellent response to the viral UK video of a pregnant pro-choicer chastising Abort 67 pro-lifers for holding abortion victim images in front of an abortion facility. TFA responds to the woman’s arguments, such as, “It’s wrong to show abortion imagery because we don’t know why they are having an abortion,” “You’re a hypocrite because you’ve had an abortion,” and “Some of the women wanting an abortion may have been abused.”

  • Suzy B agrees with pro-choice forces on a lawsuit against the alleged discrimination against pregnant employees in the workplace:

Both pro-life and pro-choice groups have filed amicus briefs on behalf of Peggy Young. The Women’s Law Project and Legal Momentum argued that the previous ruling in favor of UPS was incorrect on the basis of “misconceiving gender stereotypes in pregnancy discrimination.” Americans United for Life has filed an amicus brief, which the Susan B. Anthony List, among other pro-life groups have signed on to, coming from a different approach, standing up for the unborn and women. The brief argues that in creating the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Congress was trying to “protect women from economic pressure to abort their children because of pregnancy discrimination.”

  • Big Blue Wave discusses a Finnish study on reducing suicide risk following abortion. While most in the pro-choice camp deny there is any link at all to an increased risk of suicide, this study recommends a mental health checkup two to three weeks following an abortion. However, the study also noted that while this intervention may have been beneficial, the rate of reduction was not statistically significant.
