Atheist predicts demise of atheists due to their population decline

Steve Jones atheist We atheists sometimes congratulate ourselves that the incidence of religious belief is going down.

But religious people have more children. Where are people having the most children? It’s in the tropics and in Africa. It’s clearly the case that the future will involve an increase in religious populations and a decrease in scepticism. We may not need more scientists but more theologists.

~ Steve Jones, pictured right, professor of genetics at University College London, speaking at the Hay Literary Festival on the population decline of “religiously sceptical” countries in combination with a population rise in  European countries combined with rapid population growth in Christian countries, The Independent, May 26

Interesting side note from article:

However [Jones] did admit that the he’d be “pushed” to argue with the statement that the “New Testament was one of the greatest political documents ever written.” He added, “Out entire society is based on tenets of the New Testament.”

  • At Priests for Life, Fr. Frank Pavone calls for civil disobedience in response to the recently passed New Hampshire “bubble zone” law that bans pro-lifers from coming within 25 feet of an abortion facility:

This is an unjust law, not only from the perspective of free speech, the regulation of which must be content-neutral in order to be Constitutional, but also from a perspective that is antecedent to the Constitution…. This law attempts to stop those who are trying to save human lives, and therefore violates natural justice.

Because of its injustice, and because of the teaching of the Church that calls for conscientious objection to such laws, this law has no claim on conscience and should be directly disobeyed and violated.

  • The Passionate Pro-Lifer says Oprah Winfrey has joined the list of billionaire philanthropists who are contributing to population control and family planning efforts worldwide through the Global Health Initiative (or “Obamacare on steroids”):

Why Oprah Winfrey wants to stand shoulder to shoulder with people who… “support GHI projects, fund China’s brutal population control, but also engages in forced sterilization, coercion, bribery, and eugenics throughout the developing world” is a question she should be encouraged to answer.

  • At National Review, Michael J. New points out that Guttmacher’s latest numbers show a reduction in teen pregnancy rates. But predictably, they credit this reduction to increases in contraceptive use with no mention of the decrease in teen sexual activity rates. Among the factors that have likely contributed to the teen pregnancy decline are an increase in abstinence and an increase in the enactment of parental involvement laws.
  • ProLife360.com has a thought provoking post entitled, “10 Ways the Pill Kills Marriages”, which states that “divorce rates skyrocketed over 300% within three decades of the Pill being introduced”.
  • CEC for Life discusses the lies being told about pro-lifers by Alabama abortionists who hope to convince a judge that the real reason their clinics can’t seem to stay open isn’t because of unethical practices – it’s because of those “pesky (pro-life) protestors.”
  • ProWomanProLife wonders why Quebec just legalized euthanasia, linking to an article by Margaret Sommerville, in which she states:

I predict history will see each society’s decision about euthanasia as its turning-point values decision of the 21st century.

PWPL responds, “[I]s not legalizing killing of elderly and infirm on their choice a logical outcome of a society that has had legalized killing of babies for decades?”

  • Real Choice says there is no comparison – pregnancy resource centers are much safer for women than abortion clinics:

No woman has ended up with a hysterectomy or a colostomy because she visited a CPC. No woman has ended up with her life in a tailspin because she visited a CPC. No woman has ended up in her grave because she trusted a CPC. Many have been helped, a few have been irritated. And that’s it.

  • Secular Pro-Life and The Vine both discuss the new People of Choice website, which draws attention to the vulgarity found in the pro-choice movement. Warning: not suitable for children.

Pro-life vid of day: Mom rocks baby; “real miracle” occurs

wollmanby Kelli

From KELOLAND.com comes the story of Renner Wollman, who is considered by his parents and doctors to be a living, breathing miracle.

Renner was not expected to survive. In fact, doctors expected that he would be stillborn. Instead, Renner defied the odds and took a breath when he was born. Fighting for his life, things began to turn around for him when his mom, Karen, asked if she could sit and rock him. She says, “We don’t know, the doctors don’t know. They said he’s not a medical miracle, he’s a real miracle, and they don’t know why.” More from KELOLAND.com:

“He did not cry when he was born, but he took one breath. All I remember is Brian [Renner’s father] crying and screaming, ‘Thank you. Thank you.’ We were just so happy we were going to meet him alive,” Karen said.

But keeping Renner alive was a struggle for his doctors.

“Within the first day, they sat us down and said, ‘He’s in kidney failure. If we can’t get his kidneys to work within the next 12 hours, he’s going to die,'”…

The Wollmans were told to prepare for their son’s death and the medical team asked for their last wishes.

“Because I wanted something–if he wasn’t going to survive, something that I had done with him; and even though I did not get to hold him very often that meant the world to me,” Karen said.

Karen asked the hospital if she could bring her rocking chair up to Renner’s room and rock him.

“And I think I held him that day for about four hours. And little by little, from that moment on, he started getting better,” Karen said.

Willful blindness to link between Detroit’s abortion/preemie crises

Abortion rate Detroit related to preemie rate - premature birth and abortion Live birth less than 37 weeks Detroit - abortion preemie rate related It is one of those obvious connections I cannot comprehend the world not seeing. Actually, liberals, media, and feminists are covering it up, which is why the rest of the world can’t see it. They’re not being told. At least 59 127 studies to date confirm that forcibly opening a woman’s cervix to commiit an induced abortion can lead to an incompetent cervix for subsequent births. Even without studies to back that fact up, it’s just common sense. Other known medical conditions than can lead to premature births and may be related to abortion include ”uterine adhesions, infection, mental stress, increased maternal age, and substance abuse,” quoting LifeIssues.net. Preemie births have skyrocketed since the legalization of abortion in the U.S. in 1973. According to the American Association of Pro-Life Gynecologists and Obstetricians:

Premature birth (birth before 37 weeks) has increased 27% since 1981. In 2007 the premature… rate in America was 12.6% of all live births (and over 17% of all African-American births).

With all that in mind, read this maddening, heartbreaking June 10 Bloomberg article:

While infant mortality fell for decades across the U.S., progress bypassed Detroit, which in 2012 saw a greater proportion of babies die before their first birthdays than any American city, a rate higher than in China, Mexico and Thailand. Pregnancy-related deaths helped put Michigan’s maternal mortality rate in the bottom fifth among states. One in three pregnancies in the city is terminated.

Women are integral to the city’s recovery. While officials have drawn up plans to eliminate blight, curb crime and attract jobs, businesses and residents, they’re also struggling to save mothers and babies. The abortion patients awaiting ultrasounds at the Scotsdale Women’s Center and the premature infants hooked to heart monitors at Hutzel Women’s Hospital must be cared for before the bankrupt city can heal itself….

That last underlined sentence is insane and barbaric, lumping together the murder of babies with the critical care of babies as the foundational means to “heal” Detroit?

A campaign called Make Your Date begun last month is the latest attempt to prevent premature births, the leading cause of infant deaths, with hormone therapy and counseling….

Detroit’s crisis is a foot on the neck of women and children. Mothers’ obesity, diabetes, poverty-related stress and poor nutrition can harm infants even before they are born.

No mention of abortion, the elephant in the room.

Abortion kills future Black siblings

While the raw number of births declined with the population, children have grown more likely to be raised in female-headed households, in high-poverty neighborhoods and to rely on public assistance… Blacks composed 84 percent of residents in 2010, according to the census. Black babies in neighborhoods with the lowest poverty level are more likely to die than white infants in neighborhoods with the highest poverty, according to a state report last year. In 2010, non-whites made up 21% of MI’s population but 43% of infant deaths. “Reducing these disparities requires an explicit focus on the role of race,” the report said.

Abortion related to black premature birthsOne obvious answer would be to encourage self-respect and abstinence among Detroit’s black youth. This would go a long way toward solving Detroit’s abortion crisis, premature birth crisis, and poverty crisis.

Abortion surge

The end of many Detroit pregnancies is intentional.

In 2012, Detroit women had 5,693 abortions out of 18,249 pregnancies, according to state statistics. The rate rose to 37.9 per 1,000 women that year, up from 27.5 in 2001….

Abortion patients from Detroit said in interviews last week that they were unable to afford birth control.

“I can make ends meet, but have no room to save,” said Cook, who was 12 weeks and four days pregnant.

Her father and two friends helped pay the $275 she owed for the procedure at the Scotsdale Women’s Center on the northwest side, she said, and her sister drove her there.

It’s utter fallacy to claim a woman cannot afford birth control. There’s government funding for free contraception through various means.

Whatever, the 60-year push to have wanton sex, using contraception to prevent pregnancy, has proven to be an utter failure.

Many women don’t learn about family planning, or are encouraged by peers or relatives to have babies when young or unmarried, said Danita Jackson, a social worker at Cody High School. She recalled a tearful talk with a 15-yr-old who bore a second child 10 months after her first.

That’s just nuts Promoting self-respect and abstinence should be a no brainer. But sexual freedom is the Left’s holy grail, and the hoops it will encourage people to jump through rather than teach those virtues are dangerous and deadly.

16 & Pregnant cast member considered abortion

by Carder

mauwi and savonWhile out to lunch with LaDonna, Savon admits that she definitely considered having an abortion — but she didn’t have the money.

Thankfully, Savon has another man in her life already — Mauwi. He’s a college student who also plays basketball, and he seems to get along with Savon very well.

The best part about Mauwi? He knows that Savon is pregnant with another man’s baby, and he doesn’t care. She means enough to him that he can look past her mistake, and is even willing to help her raise the baby once he’s born.

Wow!

Planned Parenthood Indy’s BDSM pusher “no longer employed” – a LIE?

Terminated Planned Parenthood BDSM employeeUPDATE 6/13 7:10a: Planned Parenthood claims it was lying to Live Action on the call. According to USAToday.com:

A Planned Parenthood official acknowledged the staff member who took the call Thursday set up an appointment for the woman posing as the teen, even though she knew it was a Live Action operative.

Planned Parenthood staff went along with the caller’s request to meet with the specific counselor only because the agency would never tell a client about confidential personnel or employee issues, said spokeswoman Tammy Lieber.

“We knew it was a fake,” she said.

UPDATE 6/12 5:20p:  Here’s the audio.

UPDATE 6/12 2:45p: Per Lila Rose on Facebook, Live Action made a follow-up call to the Indianapolis Planned Parenthood today and was told the supposedly ex-staffer was still working there. Stay tuned.

6/12 12:11p: The first casualty of Live Action’s new investigation exposing Planned Parenthood’s proclivity to introduce minors to the dark and dangerous world of BDSM has been seen. According to IndyStar.com last night:

Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky says an undercover video released Wednesday by a pro-life group doesn’t reflect the agency’s training or standards and that the employee advising the fake client no longer works at the Indianapolis Midtown center….

Planned Parenthood spokeswoman Tammy Lieber… would not reveal whether the employee was fired or left voluntarily, or when that occurred, due to privacy policies.

But according to Live Action’s Lila Rose in an email this morning, the employee seen on video giving explicit BDSM advice to someone she thought was a 15-yr-old was employed at Planned Parenthood’s Midtown location as recently as June 9, two days before Live Action’s video release. “We made an appointment with her just this Monday for today [Thursday],” wrote Rose.

In a statement, PPIK CEO Betty Cockrum tried to confuse the issue by stating, “We are here to ensure that persons of all ages may ask us anything….” iniplannedparenthood-bettycockrum

But Live Action’s investigator never even asked about BDSM. The counselor took it upon herself to introduce the topic, going on to describe hitting, domination, leather, whips, handcuffs, and anal sex as well as recommend a violent, sexually graphic book, porn, and sex toys. If that weren’t inappropriate enough, the counselor spiced up the conversation by adding explicit details of her own BDSM sex life.

Cockrum, pictured right, added Planned Parenthood well-worn excuse, “[T]he heavy editing of this video makes it impossible to know the full exchange that took place….”

But the only reason this video was edited was due to the X-rated content provided by Planned Parenthood employee to a supposed 15-year-old.

Furthermore, an extended cut is available for adults to view, and Live Action will make the entire video available for viewing upon request.

Planned Parenthood’s 50 shades of BDSM

Finally, as Live Action asked in a statement:

They [Planned Parenthood] announce terminating the employee for violating “professional standards” but never specify what those standards are. Meanwhile, their BDSM training video remains online, and they continue to list “resources” that tell kids that torture sex is totally fine. So what exactly did the staffer in our video do to bring the wrath of Planned Parenthood down on her?

Well, Planned Parenthood?

Pro-life vid: PP director on when a human becomes human

Philosophers have pondered the meaning of life for millennia. You would think ascertaining what is (or is not) a life would be easier….

When a Planned Parenthood communications director was asked specifically when a human life is human, she admitted something that might surprise her employers:

Singer: Childbearing should not be an “absolute right”

peter singerby Kelli

[W]e need to consider whether we can talk about trying to reduce population growth and whether that’s compatible with the very reasonable concerns people have about women’s right to control their life decisions and their reproduction….

Turns out that the right to graze as many cows as you like on the common was not an absolute right…. Obviously this is what I think we ought to be saying even about how many children we have….

I hope we don’t get to a point where we do have to override it… but I don’t think we ought to shrink away from considering that as a possibility.

~ Princeton University bioethicist and infanticide proponent Peter Singer (pictured), speaking at last week’s Women Deliver conference, as quoted by IJReview.com, June 9
