Attend NARAL Bro-Choice bar event for a quick pick-me-up

bro-choice men for choice

It is already well established that “bro-choice” men have a vested interest in keeping abortion legal, as put so well by Ben Sherman at Burnt Orange Report last year when writing in fear of Texas’ sweeping pro-life legislation (which did pass, surely crimping Ben’s sleazy sex life):Sarah Silverman men pro-choice for easy women

Can you think of anything that kills the vibe faster than a woman fearing a back-alley abortion? Making abortion essentially inaccessible in Texas  will add an anxiety to sex that will drastically undercut its joys.

And don’t be surprised if casual sex outside of relationships becomes far more difficult to come by.

It’s clear: if the  Legislature basically takes away a Texas woman’s right to choose, having sex becomes… riskier for us men, who may well end up fathers well before we intend.

But aside from politicians, abortion-supporting men tend to lurk in the shadows, because isn’t that where liberal feminists told them to go? “My body, my choice,” remember?

This is becoming more problematic as time goes on, as bro-choicer Seth Millstein recently noted in the Huffington Post:

Last summer, when I was covering the protests in Texas surrounding the state’s stringent anti-abortion law, I noticed a significant demographic disparity in the crowds. While the anti-abortion side was more or less evenly split between women and men, the vast majority of pro-choice demonstrators were women.

To be sure, there were some men in the mix – the guy with the “Rick Perry Sucks” shirt stands out in my mind – and there were numerous pro-choice men fighting alongside Wendy Davis in the state legislature. But the overall gender disparity between the demonstrators on the ground was striking.

Could it be that feminist women need men after all? Yes, and not only for their bodies, but also for their money. Touché.

Hence, NARAL’s growing spate of “Men for Choice” fundraising events across the country, with ticket prices as high as $2,500.

NARAL Men for Choice event easy lay abortion

All of these fundraising events are being held at bars, I note, a nice combination – booze and pro-choice women. As comedian Chris Rock said [warning: vulgar], “I love going to abortion rallies to pick up women, ’cause you know they’re f***ing, so you ain’t gonna find a bunch of virgins at the abortion rally.”

And you know they’re going to let you off the hook if there’s an accident. Forget about condoms even.

What an interesting turn of events – pro-abortion feminists begging men to like them.

Planned Parenthood: Ok to put pro-choice rosaries on ovaries removes offensive “Pastoral Letter to Patients”

Planned Parenthood pastoral letter to patients

Planned Parenthood letter from pro-abortion clergy led to abortion oppositionUPDATE 6/9 12:20p: Planned Parenthood has removed its offensive “Pastoral Letter to Patients.” (Clear your cookies before checking link. Read archived letter here, on page 3.)

Either criticism reached critical mass, or as Alliance Defending Freedom’s Casey Mattox noted at LifeNews.com, Planned Parenthood decided it was a bad idea to concur that religion plays a part in deciding whether to get an abortion:

I write to express my agreement with Planned Parenthood, reflected in the publication of this pastoral letter, that for many women their religious beliefs will be very relevant to their decision about whether to have an abortion.

6/2 3:20p: While abortion proponents have forever belittled opposition to abortion (and contraception) in the name of religion, hypocritical Planned Parenthood has for at least two decades used pro-abortion clergy to promote killing preborn children.

In October 2013, Planned Parenthood Federation of America released a “Pastoral Letter to Patients” that is only now getting media attention, today headlined on Drudge.

PPFA’s inexplicably pro-abortion Clergy Advisory Board is comprised of 12 men and only three women, a lopsided 4:1 gender ratio that would draw ire if a board of pro-life pastors. But I’ve already noted Planned Parenthood is hypocritical.

The letter states, in part:

The decision to have an abortion is personal. Though your reasons may be complicated and private, you’re not alone. As religious leaders from a number of religious traditions, we’re here to support you in your decision.

Many people wrongly assume that all religious leaders disapprove of abortion. The truth is that abortion is not even mentioned in the Scriptures—Jewish or Christian—and there are clergy and people of faith from all denominations who support women making this complex decision. The beliefs of each person are deserving of respect, and each person deserves care and compassion, [sic] No one should be allowed to force their faith teachings on anyone else.

We believe this decision is yours, made with your doctor and anyone else you choose to bring into the conversation, such as a spouse, partner, parent, or clergy person.

Our religious traditions have somewhat different opinions about abortion, but we share some basic understandings:

  • No one knows the circumstances of your life as well as you know them; no one knows what’s in your heart better than you. Allow yourself to be at peace with your decision.
  • God loves you and is with you no matter what you decide. You can find strength, understanding, and comfort in that love.

There are so many things theologically wrong with this letter, it would require a book to thoroughly rebut. But I’ll give a brief overview.

There are many sins not mentioned in the Bible. For instance, it never specifically condemns slavery. Like abortion, the Bible has actually been used to condone slavery, since it gives instructions on how to treat slaves (Deuteronomy 15:12-15;  Ephesians 6:9; Colossians 4:1). But the Judeo-Christian community has grown in holiness to know slavery is an evil affront to against a fellow human.

At any rate, the Bible can’t cover every specific sin humans might contrive.

So common sense can certainly be applied here. We know humans are unique in all of God’s creation as being made in His own image (Genesis 1:27), and that He Himself knits us together and watches over our development in that “underground workshop” known as the womb (Psalm 139:14-16). Actually, God knew each of us before He formed us (Jeremiah 1:5), which is quite something.

All that being true, “Thou shalt not murder” undoubtedly applies to preborns, and God found child sacrifice particularly “detestable” (Deuteronomy 12:31; Ezekiel 16:20-21; Leviticus 20:1-5; etc.). In fact, God says in Jeremiah 19:5 the concept of child sacrifice is so far beyond the pale it “never even entered my mind.”

Of course, Jesus was particularly fond of children (Matthew 18:1-6; Matthew 19:13-15).

One of many signs of a false prophet is they “will come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves” (Matthew 7:15), an apt description of “clergy” who promote ripping apart babies limb from limb. The Bible warns teachers will be “judged more strictly” (James 3:1), so Planned Parenthood “clergy” should know leading others astray has personal consequences.

Planned Parenthood knows its biggest hurdle to acceptance of abortion is God. So it is attempting to turn God into an ally, which God will doom.

I patiently await the day, even as my heart breaks for those Planned Parenthood’s ravenous wolves are leading down a deadly path.

Meanwhile, I take comfort in many scriptures. One of my favorites is, “The Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.” ~ Psalm 37:13

Pro-life vid of day: Life without limbs not so limited

cris-nephewby Kelli

35-year-old farmer Chris Koch from Alberta, Canada, was born without limbs. But that hasn’t stopped him from achieving tremendous things. An excerpt from the Calgary Herald:

Being born without limbs, Koch has accomplished more than most able-bodied folks do in a lifetime.

Growing up, he learned to golf, ski, snowboard and play the piano, along with putting in countless hours as a volunteer, efforts that in 1990 won him Alberta Junior Citizen of the Year as well as the Sidney Junior Award from the War Amputations of Canada. As an adult, he received a degree in psychology and history, continued his volunteer work with such charities as War Amps Canada and has travelled far and wide. One of those trips was a three-month solo journey through Europe where he navigated the historic sites on his skateboard.

Maternity fashion line pulls “offensive” tee shirt from stores

Maternity tee shirtby Carder

On the one hand (aside from being horribly overpriced), the shirt’s message carries a two-pronged offense: It suggests that pregnancy weight is the result of being fat — not pregnant — and that pregnancy is a shameful condition after which women must erase every trace of evidence that their bodies gave birth.

On the flip side, for the expectant moms enjoying their pregnancies and the changes it brings forth, the shirt could be a lighthearted way to celebrate their evolving bodies.

Stanek Sunday Word: “They arrogantly use nonsense to appeal to sexual freedom”

Faye Wattleton Sexual Freedom Reproductive Freedom 2 peter 2:18-19

They arrogantly use nonsense to seduce people by appealing to their sexual desires, especially to sexual freedom. They seduce people who have just escaped from those who live in error. They promise these people freedom, but they themselves are slaves to corruption. A person is a slave to whatever he gives in to.

~ II Peter 2:18-19, God’s Word translation

So in reverting back to our old server this morning, the work I did for today was lost (and some of your comments perhaps?), and now I’m not going to be able to recreate that work until this afternoon.

So that’s what’s up, and thanks in advance for your patience. Check back later!

Stanek weekend vids: Filmmaker chronicles teens’ lives

by Hans Johnson

Dutch filmmaker Franz Hofmeester chronicled his children’s lives from newborn to teenager:

Putting the film together has taken discipline – my alarm is always set for Saturday morning. Sometimes the children wouldn’t want to be filmed, and then I’d try to stimulate them. Each week it gave me the opportunity to talk to my kids, to get to know their likes and dislikes. I’d say: “Tell me what you did last week, what you did at school. Tell me about the nicest thing that happened, or the saddest thing.”

The first time-lapse video was a viral hit when it showed daughter Lotte to age 12. It now goes to age 14.

The other is of son Vince to the age of 11.
