Pro-life vid of the day: Sid Dinsdale wobbly on pro-life stance

by LauraLoo

At RedState.com, Erick Erickson wrote regarding the wobbliness of Sid Dinsdale who is running for U.S. Senate, with respect to abortion and his lukewarm pro-life stance. Talking out of both sides of his mouth, Sid declares:

I would never compromise on abortion and to insinuate otherwise, is nonsense….

I’m Pro-Life and I’m not embarrassed about that. I’m proud of that but I see a time in our country where you have to set aside something like that and try to work on the things you can get done.

Hmm. “Never compromise on abortion” or “set aside something like that.” Which is it, Sid?

Actress Megan Fox working through first trimester of pregnancy

Megan-Fox_by Carder

[It’s] an action movie and requires a lot of running and jumping and stunts…. Anyone that’s been pregnant knows your first trimester can be pretty rough and you’re nauseous all day long….

The producers would come see me in the morning in the makeup trailer and I would be clinging to a box of saltines. We kept pickles in the refrigerator for me and I was just constantly on the verge of vomiting.

AZ Sheriff’s Office: Planned Parenthood didn’t report rape by serial sex offender

kost3n-3-webFrom modvive.com, May 2:

An 18-year old Arizona high school student has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting at least 10 and as many as 18 high schools girls….

Making this case even more disturbing is the allegation that a counselor at Planned Parenthood Arizona may have assisted accused serial rapist, Tyler Kost [pictured right], in covering up the actions of a sexual predator over the course of several years.

One reported case has a 15-year-old girl claiming to have been raped and impregnated by Kost, after attending a homecoming dance….

According to a detectives report, after the assault the girl alongside her mother went for care at the facility.

“The counselor intentionally miscoded the assault as a consensual encounter. The counselor told them that they did not want the hassle of having to report the assault to law enforcement as they were a mandatory reporter,” the sheriff’s office statement says.

Planned Parenthood responded to the allegations with the following statement:

“While we provide confidential care to all of our patients, we have strict policies in place that require all staff to report any illegal activity they learn about, including sexual assault. All patients are asked at least two separate times whether they consented to sexual activity; if a patient says she was sexually assaulted or displays signs of assault, our staff is required to report it immediately to law enforcement officials. We have zero tolerance for staff failing to meet our standards and policies.”…

Two of the rape victims were so severely traumatized that they felt compelled to leave the state, the sheriff said. One of the two victims even required hospitalization after she attempted to take her own life.

In 2009, a Live Action sting caught employees at three separate Planned Parenthood Arizona facilities showing a willingness to cover up underage rape. At that time PPAZ said it was “conducting an internal review.” It obviously cleared itself.

Planned Parenthood Arizona also sued the state (case pending) so as to continue giving the abortion drug RU-486 against FDA guidelines. CEO Bryan Howard said they had to do this to make ends meet.

Coincidentally, the Sex Ed Committee at Tempe Union High School District, which is in the same vicinity as the high school where the serial rapist attended, is to vote tomorrow night on whether to use Planned Parenthood’s sex ed program, which has been a hot topic in the community for months. The timing is not good.

This is a test of Planned Parenthood Arizona’s new roving iPad business model, since it has had to stop abortions at so many of its 13 clinics. Abortions are now only committed at four mills.

The organization is still doing well financially. Although revenue was down $3 million from the year before, Planned Parenthood Arizona still made $8.7 mil in in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2012, according to its 990. Howard’s salary totalled $202,845.

  • At Real Choice, Christina Dunigan tells us why we need to counter the pro-choice lie claiming Kermit Gosnell was an “outlier” in the abortion industry:

We cannot let the abortion-rights movement weasel away from the fact that although the National Abortion Federation did reject Gosnell’s membership application, that didn’t stop one of their member clinics from hiring him to work part-time at their facility. A woman who believed NAF’s promises of safety would make an appointment at this reputable clinic, which would collect her fee and then turn her over to Gosnell’s care. Her abortion would be started at the NAF clinic, after which the woman would be given an appointment to have her abortion completed at Gosnell’s own facility, where she would be drugged within inches of her life by people who didn’t even finish high school, then left to moan and writhe on a blood-stained recliner amid the cat feces. This relationship can’t be described as “outlier.” It was “employee.”

  • At Secular Pro-Life, Chris Rostenberg says something is seriously unhealthy about Planned Parenthood’s “Happy, Healthy, and Hot” brochure, which gives some very wrong advice to people who are HIV positive, along with other advice that just seems odd:

… [T]he giant of the abortion advocacy world proclaims: “You have the right to decide if, when, and how to disclose your HIV status… You know best if and when it is safe to disclose your [HIV] status…
It is not always possible to talk about to your partner(s) or to practice safer sex…”

There is no if, and there is no question of when. The only appropriate time to disclose one’s HIV status is before having sex with your partner. That is the “right way.” An organization that really cared about sexual health would not need me to explain this.

I’m hardly the first to write about this problem with Happy, Healthy, and Hot. It got a fair amount of coverage when the brochure first came to light in 2010. But if you read the whole thing, it turns out that there’s enough baffling propaganda for several articles.

  • Pro-Life Action League discusses the summary of abortionist Mandy Gittler’s deposition given regarding the death of Tonya Reaves at a Chicago Planned Parenthood:

Reading the deposition, it’s clear that Gittler drastically downplayed Reaves’ dire condition when communicating with doctors at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where Reaves was transferred at 4:30 p.m. after she continued to experience what a nurse called “heavy bleeding” — despite her repeatedly evasive answers as to whether she agreed that the bleeding was, in fact, “heavy.” As a result, ER personnel had no reason to believe that Reaves was in imminent danger of death. At 11:20 that night, Reaves was dead….

Imprecision, evasiveness, failing to accept responsibility — they’re all there in Planned Parenthood’s two-paragraph statement issued in the wake of Tonya Reaves’ death. And it’s a microcosm of abortionist Mandy Gittler’s 165-page deposition.

  • At Priests for Life, Kevin Burke shares the sad story of heavyweight boxer Floyd Mayweather (pictured right), who ended a relationship with his fianceé, Shantel Christine Jackson, after he discovered she had aborted his twin babies. Burke remarks, “How horribly ironic that one of the greatest professional boxers in the world is powerless after Roe v Wade to defend the life of his unborn children.”
  • ProLifeBlogs links to FRC’s post regarding the racist statements uttered by L.A. Clipper’s owner Donald Sterling:

Until this unseemly incident, the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) planned to award Sterling with the “Lifetime Achievement Award.” This is an interesting situation for two reasons; according to a recent Time Magazine interview with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (who used to work for Sterling) this rant was actually nothing new for him, and if Sterling has indeed had a history of vocalizing his racism, then why would the NAACP award this man with a “Lifetime Achievement Award?” Is it really possible that no one else on the award committee knew of his history of distasteful rhetoric?

And yet, this same NAACP sued (and won against) The Radiance Foundation’s Ryan Bomberger, who is biracial, for “parod[ying] the NAACP acronym by saying [it] should stand for the National Association for the Abortion of Colored People” due to its strong stance in favor of abortion and Planned Parenthood.

Pro-life vid of day: Former Obama admin czar stumbles on abortion Q

by Hans Johnson

Well-known politicos seem to be as slippery as ever when asked a direct abortion-related question. Cass Sunstein, former regulatory czar and friend of pro-infanticide Princeton professor Peter Singer was asked if a fetus should have the same rights as a horse. Unable to defend the indefensible, he does the typical tap dance about not inflicting intentional pain and respecting others’ views.

One has to wonder how much he respects the push for pain-capable abortion restriction legislation.

Abortion biz CEO: Hard to find good help in Texas

I can’t find anyone to deliver water or resurface the parking lot, because they’re against abortion. I can’t get someone to fix a leak in the roof.

~ Amy Hagstrom Miller (pictured right), CEO of abortion facility Whole Woman’s Health in Texas, lamenting the widespread closing of abortion clinics in the state, where the public is largely “vehemently opposed to abortion and unwilling to aid it in any way,” as quoted by National Journal, May 5

NARAL lied: No “deceptive” pregnancy center ads pulled by Google

NARAL - Thank You Google On April 28 NARAL made a media splash by claiming it had gotten Google to remove a large number of ”deceptive ads from anti-choice crisis pregnancy centers.”

And those “deceptions,” if true, were major whoppers.

From the Washington Post:

According to an analysis by NARAL, 79 percent of the crisis pregnancy centers that advertised on Google indicated that they provided medical services such as abortions, when, in fact, they are focused on counseling services and on providing information about alternatives to abortion….

Google said in a statement that it had applied its ad policy standards in this case and followed normal company procedures.

That’s a lot of pregnancy care centers supposedly posing as abortion clinics. The sheer magnitude should have raised a red flag with any objective journalist who bore in mind s/he had been fed those statistics by the opposition. I am aware of NO pcc that would do such a thing.

NARAL claimed:

We discovered that if you Googled “abortion clinic,” ads funded by anti-choice crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) appeared 79 percent of the time. CPCs don’t provide or refer for abortion care, and they shouldn’t trick women into thinking that they do.

NARAL further claimed:

[M]ore than two-thirds of the ads we identified have been removed or taken down. The ads in question violate several of the company’s advertising practices by misrepresenting the services the centers provide….

Pro-lifers were immediately alarmed by NARAL’s witch hunt and Google’s apparent capitulation.

But now that the dust has settled, it is clear NARAL fabricated this storyline.

All major national pregnancy care center organizations have confirmed to myself or fellow pro-life journalists that not one of their prc ads has been pulled from Google. These groups cover the gamut and include CareNet, CompassCare, Heartbeat International, Heroic Media, National Institute of Family and Life Advocates, Online for Life, and Vitae Foundation.

NARAL cited an ad by pregnanthelp.com as an example of the “deception”:

2014-05-05_1334

PregnantHelp.com is a CareNet affiliate. Today, Melinda Gipson, CareNet’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications, responded via email:

What NARAL objected to was the fact that this ad appeared when someone searched, “Abortion clinic Naperville, IL.” Yet the center never bought the search term “abortion clinic.” Instead, it is more likely that Google’s AdWords’ real-time bidding engine saw the word “abortion” and “Naperville” in its queue, weighed this against the text in the ad and the price the center was bidding for exposure, then deemed the ad appropriate.

If anything, Google was itself probably responsible for the juxtaposition of this search string and the Naperville ad, and the fact that the ad was not in fact removed, nor was Naperville identified of a violation, shows that Google agrees.

So it may be Google itself that is responsible for the ad words glitch, which would explain its ambiguous response to queries on this matter.

Gipson explained more about how Google places ads in a follow-up email, which I found quite helpful. Gipson is a Google ad word expert, having had 20 years of experience in online media and marketing before joining CareNet.

Indeed, when I googled “abortion clinic Naperville il” today, PregnantHelp.com’s ad appeared first, with another pro-life organization (freeabortionhelp.com) third:

google

When I googled “abortion clinic,” a pro-life ad came up second. For “abortion clinics,” two pro-life ads were among those listed on the right side.

SearchEngineLand.com concurred with my findings:

Do Google’s actions mark a policy change on abortion related advertising? Is this an indication the company is taking a political stance on the issue? Are all ads from pregnancy centers banned on Google? Did NARAL tread new ground in “lobbying” Google to remove ads it found misleading?

The answer to all of these questions is, No….

A clinic that does not offer abortion services can still buy and advertise on “crisis pregnancy center” and “abortion clinic” related keywords. The advertisers can promote the abortion alternative services, adoption or pre-natal care they offer, for example.

Bottom line, NARAL fabricated the Google storyline, and the mainstream media willingly or ignorantly fell for it.

NARAL got what it wanted in the short term – free media to tarnish the brand of pregnancy care centers, plus an accomplishment to show its donors other than its president, Ilyse Hogue, going on The Daily Show to discuss penis pumps.

But NARAL also revealed the desperation of an industry that is bleeding its only source of income, abortion, to the pro-life movement, and the industry obviously and rightfully deems pregnancy care centers to be major culprits.

But NARAL better be careful what it wishes for. A Google search today of “crisis pregnancy center” turned up an ad for none other than Planned Parenthood…

2014-05-05_1829

And as Tom Glessner of NIFLA pointed out at NationalRightToLifeNews.org:

Interestingly, if you do a search of “Abortion alternatives, city, state,” who do you think shows up in the paid advertising? Go ahead try it! The top three listing will most likely be abortion providers. Talk about deceptive and misleading advertising! Let’s tell Google about that!

Indeed. Perhaps MSM will be interested in doing a follow-up corrective story exposing the real deceivers – not.
