UK pro-choice Left “can accept no opposing view”

by Kelli

The failure of this very modest amendment says a lot about the state of abortion politics in Britain.

The Left-wing establishment could not let it pass because it cannot tolerate the concept of any limit on access to abortion whatsoever. It proclaims that it wants abortion to be safe, legal and rare. But it regards abortion as a fundamental human right if not a positive assertion of a woman’s freedom to control her own destiny – and any attempt to constrict a human freedom is, obviously, a betrayal of that freedom in principle.

In trumpeting the right of abortion over any wider concerns about, say, its effects upon society, gender relations or (Heaven forbid) the welfare of the unborn child itself, the establishment Left has made its position as plain and bold as possible.

Abortion in all circumstances and for whatever reason is a-okay.

It is often suggested that pro-lifers are religious fanatics who won’t give an inch, while pro-choicers are moderate humanists. The situation is far more contrary than such clichés suggest….

The Left-wing establishment does not approach abortion with the sober minds of liberal pragmatists balancing one set of rights against another, but as fundamentalists who can accept no opposing view. The abortion industry has become their Moloch, and they will give it whatever it demands.

Pro-life blog buzz 2-27-15

pro-lifeby Susie Allen, host of the blog, Pro-Life in TN, and Kelli

  • John Smeaton comments on the defeat of a sex-selection abortion ban in the UK. Opponents of the ban were apparently afraid it might “confer personhood on the foetus.”
  • Saynsumthn’s Blog reports that the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, school board voted to allow Planned Parenthood to have access to their students in 7th and 8th grade. No doubt this will increase Planned Parenthood’s customer base in the future, as these students become sexually active. Interestingly, the school board made their decision in part due to PP’s ability to garner favor with HHS and to obtain grants. Follow the money trail.
  • Secular Pro-Life features another in their series of analyzing abortion facility websites – American Family Planning of Pensacola, owned and operated by Steven Chase Brigham, whose medical license has been revoked in numerous states. SPL says, “AFPP’s website is full of troubling statements. That’s especially true of its section on medical abortion (abortion by pill).”

  • Operation Rescue exposes the fact that a Wichita, Kansas, abortion clinic is employing Dr. Leslie Page, an obstetrician who was disciplined by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts for “professional incompetency”:

It appears that Page is too incompetent to deliver live babies, but it’s apparently fine for her to deliver dead ones through abortions,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “This tragically places women in the risky position of being treated by someone the Board considered too incompetent to practice in a field closely related to abortions. This places women’s lives and health in danger.

  • Dr. Michael New reviews the late Dr. Jack Willke’s book:

Willke and his wife Barbara co-authored over a dozen books on abortion and human sexuality. Their most recent book, Abortion and the Pro-Life Movement, was published last fall. Willke and his wife, who passed away in 2013, spent several years on this book, which provides a detailed history of the pro-life movement in the United States. Documenting this history was an important task. While plenty has been written debating and analyzing the moral and legal foundations of abortion, the history of abortion-related activism has received precious little attention from either journalists or academics.

  • ProLife365 shares the powerful post-abortive testimony of a woman who had multiple abortions to prove “it didn’t hurt” her:

I’ve thoughts about why I kept doing that to myself, getting pregnant and having abortions in an endless cycle. I feel like I did it because I had to prove to myself that I was right. I had to prove to myself that it didn’t hurt, that I could go through it over and over again and it wouldn’t hurt. The more I did it, the less it hurt, physically and emotionally. I deadened myself to pain — to right and wrong. Until finally, with the last one, it didn’t hurt at all….

Pro-life vid of day: Project Truth’s summer roadshow in UK

by Kelli

It’s time to take a look at what our pro-life brothers and sisters were up to across the pond last summer. About this video, SPUC Scotland states:

Project Truth aims to bring the pro-life message to the public, to show the dignity of the unborn child, by looking at the simple facts of their development in the womb.

This roadshow brought together 11 young people from all across the UK, covering 5 cities in 5 days and finishing with a Youth Rally in Glasgow.

HBO’s “Girls” hopes to mainstream abortion

by Carder

Girls HBOWomen’s stories about abortion are slowly, thoughtfully, and carefully coming into the mainstream. And as they do, the word itself – abortion – becomes less stigmatized, more human. This week’s “Girls” was an abrupt and necessary reminder that there is not just one type of abortion experience.

Whether it was too abrupt, casual, or weird is, per every episode of “Girls,” utterly beside the point.

Pro-life vid of the day: Pre-born baby does “inner space walk”

by Hans Johnson

People have known for millennia about that time when a baby reaches the stage of “quickening”.  Eventually he makes his presence known, with moverments ranging from fluttering to swift kicks!

But only with the advent of sonograms in recent decades have we had such a window on this “world within a world” to see just how active we are before birth. Babies begin to yawn, smile and open their eyes weeks before they are born.

In this video we see a “wombnaut” kick off and swing on her umbilical cord.

The “secret shame” of abortion in the church

praying_woman_in_churchby Kelli

Leaders in post-abortion recovery ministry say the church remains reluctant to fully face the impact of abortion within their own congregations.

[Post-abortion counselor Kathy] Rutledge said she once gave her testimony to a group of women at a megachurch in the South and by the end, several women were “practically bawling.” Yet, when Rutledge asked about doing a follow-up, the group’s leader said, “None of my women have had an abortion… and even if they did, they don’t need to be speaking about it.”

Nancy Kruezer, who serves as Chicago Regional Coordinator for Silent No More, said some pastors express fears that if they address abortion, it will “open the floodgates,” and they will be overwhelmed by wounded people. Others object because they say the topic is too political — or that discussing abortion might actually make it more acceptable.

But, Kruezer said these fears are unfounded and that women desperately need to talk about their abortions. As a result of her abortion 22 years ago, Kruezer said she suffered overwhelming fear, anxiety, and nightmares. These problems persisted for about 15 years until Kruezer finally confessed her abortion to her small group….

“Silence is a powerful weapon of the enemy,” Kruezer said. “It’s in silence that the truth remains hidden and that lies flourish… lies that justify the killing of unborn children, lies that say abortion doesn’t hurt people.”

… Our churches need to regularly communicate that they are safe places for women [who are post-abortive]. While we cannot whitewash the sin of abortion, we also can’t ignore those who at one time have had abortions and are suffering. We must let them know that Jesus’ blood covers all sin, including theirs.

Pro-life vid of day: Songwriter pens song for preborn son

by Hans Johnson

Seeing your child’s heartbeat on an ultrasound image is enough to make anyone burst into song. That was right up the alley of singer/songwriter Sam Martin.

According to LifeNews.com, Martin “kept the song secret from his wife, Joy, because he wanted to complete it first; however, one day she walked in on him privately practicing it. He told her, “‘You weren’t supposed to hear that — give me 10 minutes. She left and came back; I played it, and then both of us were just sobbing. Uncontrollably crying.'”

The Martins’ son is due March 19.

That time NARAL held a protest in an empty room

proxy

Apparently NARAL is sponsoring #StopTheBans events across the country today.

In particular, NARAL really doesn’t like the 20-week abortion ban. You know, the one that everyone else does, particularly women.

If indeed a picture tells a thousand words, the one below is classic. It shows NARAL Maryland supporters this morning griping to an empty room….

And here’s a close-up of the some of the #stopthebans advocates who were talking to themselves.

It gets better. These people had to be paid to show up. They’re NARAL employees.
